Chapter 352 Your Image Affects My Mood

'Why the heck is there a gym here?' Scarlett wondered.

Treadmills, stretchers, barbells, dumbbells, grip strengtheners... the whole 2,500-square-foot room was packed with fitness gear, turning it into a full-blown gym.

There were three rooms on the third floor. The biggest one was the gym, next to it was a storage room, and the room at the far end was locked, probably off-limits. Scarlett wanted to stay on the third floor, but that was a no-go.

She rubbed her temples, almost fainting from anger. That jerk did it on purpose! He just did not want her to live peacefully in his house.

Sebastian was sitting by the floor-to-ceiling window in the master bedroom, reading some documents, when he heard a rapid knock on the door. From the sound of it, he knew Scarlett was in a bad mood. "Come in."

Scarlett forcefully turned the doorknob, standing outside with her hand on her suitcase handle, her face flushed and a bit sweaty. Sebastian got it; lugging that suitcase around would make anyone sweat.

"Ms. Taylor, shouldn't you be in your room right now?" Sebastian's voice held a note of feigned surprise as he lounged on the sofa, absentmindedly twirling a gold pen, his gaze holding an inexplicable meaning.

Scarlett had a cold smile on her lips. "Sir, why didn't you tell me the room upstairs is a gym?"

"Did you ask me?" He tossed the question back at her.

"Shouldn't you have warned me in advance?"

Sebastian frowned slightly. "I asked if you wanted to check first, but you refused."

Scarlett was about to explode with anger. "Which room is available?"

Sebastian appeared to be contemplating, taking in the sheer size of the house. Given its expanse, Scarlett should have had an abundance of choices. However, after a moment's pause, he finally responded, "Except for the first and third floors, any other room is available."

So, she could only stay on the second floor.

Scarlett gritted her teeth. "Thanks!"

She dragged her suitcase to the room at the end of the second floor, opened the door, and found it was a study!

Her hand tightened around the suitcase handle with such force that it seemed she might snap it in two.

The room next to the study was definitely not a good option; the study must be frequently used by the host, and they would run into each other often.

She chose the room on the other side of the corridor, opened the door, and was even more surprised.

It was a room that had been prepared in advance, clean, tidy, simple, and spacious, with a wide view, a vanity table for women, and an en-suite bathroom. What surprised her the most was the bouquet of elegant lilies on the bedside table.

'Is it unintentional or premeditated? What is this man up to? I can't figure it out,' she thought.

The next morning, Scarlett woke up early as usual. She changed into black and white workout clothes and started running at seven o'clock.

In the second-floor bedroom with a large balcony, heavy dark blue silk curtains and light white gauze swayed with the morning breeze, allowing sunlight to stream through. Sebastian walked to the window on the soft handmade cashmere carpet, lifted a corner of the curtain with one hand, and saw Scarlett running.

In the morning light, the breeze was warm, and the spring flowers had already bloomed. Scarlett jogged slowly along the clean path, earphones in, back straight, steps light, and her ponytail swinging rhythmically with her movements.

She wasn't like Brooklyn. The Brooklyn in his heart wasn't like this.

After Sebastian changed clothes and went downstairs, Scarlett had just returned from her run. As soon as she entered, she saw Sebastian in the living room. He was wearing a crisp white shirt and black pants, standing there looking as indifferent and aloof as ever.

Scarlett's face was flushed from her workout, her fair skin turning red, making her delicate oval face appear almost cherubic. Beads of sweat glistened on her forehead, catching the light like tiny jewels.

Sebastian frowned. "Ms. Taylor, have you prepared breakfast?"

Oops, she had forgotten about it. Usually in Averlake, when she came back from running, the servants had already set breakfast on the table.

Scarlett wiped the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand, a drop of sweat hanging from the tip of her nose, sparkling like a crystal. "Sorry, I'll take a shower and start preparing right away."

Sebastian's eyes flickered with a moment of hesitation, his heart stirred by the rosy hue of her face, then he looked away.

Scarlett dashed up the stairs, her movements a blur of efficiency. Within ten minutes, she had showered, changed clothes, and was back downstairs.

However, when she reentered the room, Sebastian, reading the newspaper, glanced up, his eyes narrowing slightly as they swept over her outfit. "Ms. Taylor, do you only wear black and white clothes?"

Every time they had met—whether it was their first two encounters, during her workouts, or now—her attire had been monochromatic.

"You don't have the right to interfere with what colors I like to wear, do you?" Scarlett met his gaze without flinching.

"I can't interfere with your preferences, but I hope you pay attention to your personal image. Also, as a doctor, you might know better what kind of attire helps patients relax," Sebastian said.

Scarlett silently cursed in her heart. 'Do you still want breakfast or not?!'

If he wanted breakfast, he should stop talking so much!

To prepare meals that her assistants could eat, Scarlett worked hard to learn cooking, but she wasn't very good at it. Although the food was cooked and barely edible, it didn't look very appealing.

"Sorry, this is the best I can do for now," she said.

The most troublesome part of cooking was chopping vegetables, so she had tied her long hair into a loose bun at the back of her head, wearing an apron around her waist. Her graceful figure, in the lazy morning home attire, exuded a gentle beauty.

It was unfamiliar to Scarlett herself, but Sebastian looked at her a few more times in a complicated mood.
