Chapter 486 Piper Arrested

Word had spread around the factory that Sebastian was offering ten times the usual overtime pay, plus a week of paid vacation once the job was done. The workers were so pumped that they decided they'd work around the clock, skipping meals and sleep if necessary, to get the job done.

On the first day, the workers showed just how much they could accomplish. A task that would normally take two days was finished by 2 AM. The assembly line then moved on to deep processing, doubling the usual speed.

Bianca and Brandon stayed at the factory the entire time, working alongside the employees. They didn't sleep for a full day and night, and by 11 AM the next day, everyone was hitting a wall of exhaustion.

"This isn't sustainable. The workers need to rest for a few hours. Working while exhausted will lower efficiency, and I'm worried someone might get hurt trying to push through just for the money," Bianca said, concerned.

Brandon agreed, especially seeing the dark circles under Bianca's eyes. They hadn't even been on the assembly line, just staying up with the workers, and they were already struggling.

"Bianca, you need to get some sleep. Those dark circles are about to take over your whole face," Brandon said, yawning and tearing up from exhaustion.

"You're one to talk. I'll tell the workers to go home and rest. We'll start again at 8 PM. Everyone needs a few hours of sleep."

"Agreed."

For once, they were on the same page. The workers, though drowsy, quickly agreed and left the factory in an orderly fashion. The bustling factory fell silent.

Bianca, holding her heavy head, yawned. "Brandon, I'm heading home."

Brandon, seeing how out of it she was, stepped in front of her. "You're planning to drive like this? You might not care about your own life, but I'm worried you'll hit someone."

Bianca rolled her eyes. "I'm fine. I'm not as fragile as you think."

"Yeah, right. Driving while tired is dangerous. I'll drive you. Get in."

Bianca frowned. "You haven't slept either. If I'm too tired to drive, so are you." She yawned again.

"Enough. We're both exhausted. I'll drive you. That's final. Don't get the wrong idea, Bianca. I'm just worried about having to handle everything alone if something happens to you."

Bianca, too tired to argue, tossed him the keys. "Fine. If Mr. Hernandez wants to be my chauffeur, who am I to refuse?"

"Give me the address."

"197 Sunflower Lane."

Brandon raised an eyebrow. "You live on Sunflower Lane?"

"What's it to you?"

Brandon smirked and opened the car door.

Bianca, not having Brandon's stamina, fell asleep in the passenger seat. Her head lolled to the side, her face showing the exhaustion of the past day. The usual sharpness and elegance she carried were replaced by a vulnerable softness.

Brandon glanced at her, feeling a strange stir in his chest. She looked worn out, and her figure was not at all the stunning one she usually cut. Yet, the feeling was undeniable.

Brandon forced himself to look away. "Damn it! No way. I can't be falling for her, can I?"

The thought startled him so much that he nearly swerved off the road. He took a deep breath. No, it was impossible. She was never gentle. How could he like her?

Absolutely not.

When they arrived at Bianca's upscale apartment building, Brandon said, "Bianca, we're here."

No response. He called again, "Bianca, we're home. Time to get out."

Bianca mumbled.

She was too exhausted to move. Brandon rubbed his temples. "Bianca, get out."

"I am too tired," she murmured, her voice soft and weak, showing a rare vulnerability.

Brandon was taken aback. Was he hearing things, or did she actually have a gentle side? He tapped her shoulder. "Hey?"

Looking out the windshield, Brandon sighed. "Guess I'm playing the good guy today."

He lifted Bianca out of the car, muttering, "Bianca, you owe me for this."

Though she was nearly 5'7", she was slender and light. Her scent, a subtle, elegant perfume, was nothing like the overpowering fragrances of women in nightclubs. It was almost intoxicating.

Brandon's mind cleared as he carried her, the fatigue fading. Damn, who knew she could be so refreshing?

He laid her on her bed, catching his breath. "Bianca, you better be nice to me after this. Don't forget I saved you today."

Bianca mumbled, "Thanks."

Brandon's eyes widened. "Are you asleep or not?"

She didn't respond.

While she slept soundly, Brandon was left feeling awkward. Her apartment was spacious, over 2,000 square feet, with an open layout and a sleek black-and-white design. It was all very professional and cold.

"Damn, it doesn't even feel like a woman lives here."

He collapsed on the living room sofa, falling asleep instantly.

In the MBK CEO's office, Dario stood there quietly as Sebastian reviewed some documents.

Sebastian flipped through the pages, saying, "Start next month. That's all for now."

"Yes, Mr. Kingsley."

Sebastian signed his name and looked up. "Anything else?"

Dario handed over the documents. "Mr. Kingsley, Ms. Rivera should have been arrested by now. I suggest you turn on the TV."

"Oh?" Sebastian clasped his hands, elbows on the desk, smiling coldly. "Alright."

The TV showed a news report about Piper. A reporter stood outside a hospital, reporting live.

"Aucester Hospital's cardiology chief, Piper, has been arrested for illegal organ trafficking. As the sister of Infinite International Group's chairman, James, it's unclear why she would risk such a crime. Evidence is conclusive…"

Sebastian's eyes glinted with a cold smile. "Good."

Dario added, "Mr. Kingsley, everything is set. Piper will likely spend some time in prison."

"Piper is tough. She needs to learn her lesson. It will give her time to reflect and change."

Dario, uneasy, said, "But Mr. Kingsley, James won't stand by. With his influence in Aucester, he could easily get her out."

Sebastian chuckled, his ringed hand tapping the desk. "Him? I'm counting on it."

"You mean… a trap?"

"James is smart. He won't act recklessly. At least, not against me. I'll go to the hospital myself."

"Yes, Mr. Kingsley."

"Illegal organ trafficking? Oh my God! How could Dr. Rivera do such a thing? I can't believe it!"

"Dr. Rivera always seemed unapproachable. Who knew she was involved in something so horrible? It's terrifying!"

The hospital was abuzz with talk about Piper. Her name was on everyone's lips, dominating every conversation.

Brooklyn sat in her office, pressing her fingers to her forehead. Her computer showed footage of Piper's arrest. Her white coat was disheveled, and her hair was a mess—nothing like the composed Dr. Rivera.

Brooklyn sighed. Sebastian's methods were indeed ruthless.

"Dr. Mitchell?"

Lost in thought, Brooklyn was startled by Arabella's voice.

"What is it?"

"Isn't it great? Piper was always so domineering. Seeing her arrested is so satisfying!"

Arabella's eyes sparkled behind her glasses, her skin glowing with happiness.

"Oh? I think your joy isn't just about justice. From what I hear, Piper had a thing for Dr. Carter, and my little assistant has a crush on him. Is that why you're so happy?"

"Hehe! Dr. Mitchell, you're so smart! But there's another reason I'm happy."

"Oh? What's that?"

"Because of you. I heard Piper used to give you a hard time, and you never fought back. Now someone's standing up for you. Aren't you happy, too?"

Brooklyn laughed. Having someone stand up for her? Yes, she was very happy!

Dear CEO, Please Be Gentle!
