Chapter 193 I Don't Love You
"I don't love you," Sebastian said, his voice dropping. Faced with Megan's love, he could only respond this way. He didn't love Megan, plain and simple.
Megan wiped her tears to see his face clearly. "So, you'd rather choose Brooklyn, who doesn't love you, over me?"
Sebastian raised his hand and slapped her. "How dare you!"
Megan covered her face and smiled bitterly. "Sebastian, we're both pathetic. I can't win your heart, and you can't win hers."
She continued, crying and laughing. "Sebastian, it's been five years. I've given you the best years of my life. Are you really going to treat me like this? If you can be so heartless, I'll get rid of the baby and leave you alone."
Megan got up from the floor and left the study without looking back.
Sebastian rubbed his temples, his head aching, maintaining the same posture even after the study door closed.
If love could truly be earned by being nice, Brooklyn would never stand a chance against Megan.
But he loved Brooklyn, and with that, Megan stood no chance at all.
Sebastian, being a compassionate person, couldn't possibly lack a shred of pity facing Megan.
Megan even dared to bring up what happened five years ago, showing that she had reached her limit.
In the bedroom, Megan carefully wiped away the tears and dirt from her face, picked up her phone, and called her cousin, Mary Turner. "Mary, I've done as you advised. It may not work. If I fail today, Sebastian will definitely kick me out of the Kingsley family forever. I'm scared."
"Don't be. If you follow my instructions, you won't fail. If Sebastian lets you make a fuss, it means he's not heartless. Remind him of the life-saving grace and the child's life, and it will work. Tonight, wait for him to come to you," Mary said.
"Thank you, Mary! I'm glad I told you about what happened five years ago," Megan said.
"But Megan, why did he hide what happened five years ago, even from the family?" Mary asked.
"I'm not sure about that, but he was really badly injured at the time, almost died on the operating table. It was his heart that was injured," Megan answered.
"Alright, forget it. Remember, you can only mention this once. You must continue to be extremely nice to Sebastian, move him, and make him unable to leave you. Once you become the mistress of the Kingsley family, even if you divorce in the future, you are someone, understand?"
At that moment, there was a light knock on the door!
"Mary, he's here! I have to go!" Megan hung up, immediately adjusted her expression to one of sorrow, and slowly opened the door. "Sebastian."
Sebastian said, "You can't mess with the child in the future."
A look of wild joy crossed Megan's face. "Okay, I'll listen to you, Sebastian. This bed is big enough for both of us. Would you like to sleep here? I won't disturb you."
Megan's gaze was infatuated, her plea tender.
Sebastian glanced at the bed. The spot she was sleeping in used to belong to Brooklyn. A few medical books were once placed on the cabinet, but photos of Megan now replaced them. "Okay," he said.
Meanwhile, Brooklyn was struggling with the printer in the study. Damn, how did this thing work?
"Savannah, where's Sebastian?" Brooklyn asked. The file was important; she needed to print it out, but Sebastian was nowhere to be found.
Savannah bit her lip. "Mr. Kingsley just went to the bedroom on the second floor."
Brooklyn looked towards the second-floor bedroom, the USB drive in her hand almost being snapped in half.
Taking a deep breath, she nodded. "Okay."
She had guessed right; Sebastian would also fall for Megan's gentleness.
The next day, Brooklyn saw Sebastian coming down from the second floor in the hallway. He was wearing beige casual trousers with a smoke-gray casual shirt on top, sleeves rolled up at the elbows, exuding a dazzling aura.
She stood downstairs, naturally looking up at him. Sebastian's appearance was like a surging tide, sweeping her soft heart away.
Sebastian had such presence andcharm thatshe couldn't look away.
"Mr. Kingsley, breakfast is ready. Shall we eat now?" Savannah asked.
He caught sight of Brooklyn from the corner of his eye. "Wait for Ms. Turner to come down."
"Yes, Mr. Kingsley," Savannah answered.
Brooklyn picked up her bag to leave. "Savannah, I won't have breakfast at home."
"Today is the weekend. Why are you in such a hurry to leave?" Sebastian asked.
Weekend? She had forgotten!
"Overtime," Brooklyn answered.
"Cancel it. All weekend overtime is canceled from now on," Sebastian demanded.
Brooklyn shifted her steps towards him. "This is my job."
"What's the purpose of your job? Stop using saving lives as an excuse. Isn't work about making money? Marrying into the Kingsley family. I don't need you to earn this little money."
Sebastian was still angry from seeing her with Zach last night!
"Sebastian, you're about to become someone else's husband. Why so aggressive?" Brooklyn said.
He stepped past a large vase, approaching her with big steps and frowning. "I've said it before, the woman on my marriage certificate can only be you."
Brooklyn thought, 'How shameless!'
'He just comes down from Megan and then climbs onto my bed?'
"If it's not for love, this certificate means nothing," Brooklyn said.
"How do you know it's not?" Sebastian asked.
Sebastian thought, 'Is it love? How could Brooklyn not sense it?'
"Megan, how will you handle her? Sebastian, you just had sex with her last night. Are you turning a blind eye today?"
