Chapter 235 Going to Jabari
Brooklyn stepped out of the elevator and into the administration department. On her way to Zach's office, people greeted her warmly. It wasn't just because she was a doctor, but also because she was now Mrs. Kingsley.
Through the window, she saw Zach talking to Enrique from hepatobiliary surgery. Zach looked serious, and the atmosphere was tense.
Brooklyn thought, 'Is he about to lose his temper?'
She thought about leaving to avoid the awkwardness if Zach started reprimanding Enrique in front of her.
Zach noticed Brooklyn and quickly wrapped up his conversation with Enrique.
As Enrique exited the office and saw Brooklyn waiting outside, he immediately bowed his head slightly. "Dr. Mitchell, good to see you!"
Brooklyn felt uncomfortable. Enrique was a senior figure in the department, practically a veteran.
"Hello," she replied.
After Enrique left, Brooklyn walked into Zach's office. "Dr. Carter."
Zach stood up, his earlier seriousness gone. "Want something to drink? Coffee, water, juice?"
Brooklyn handed him the documents. "No juice for me, thanks. Here are the files that need your signature. Please take a look."
Zach picked up the documents. "Sounds like your team is swamped with work lately?"
"Always. Cardiology is crucial in a famous hospital like this. We get patients from all over."
Brooklyn's tone was as precise and polished as a briefing to a superior.
As Zach finished reviewing the documents, he twirled his pen, preparing to sign, but then hesitated. "There's something I'd like to discuss with you."
Brooklyn raised an eyebrow. "With me?"
Zach smiled, signing the documents. "The news isn't official yet, but the hospital is sending a ten-person expert team to Jabari."
"Jabari?"
"Yeah, it's far. The hospital is vying for a university hospital affiliation. Our competitor is Bright Care Hospital here in the city. Both institutions are pretty much on par, and to build a strong reputation, you understand the importance."
"What's your point, Dr. Carter?"
Zach poured her a glass of water. "The plan is to select five doctors from internal medicine and five from surgery."
Brooklyn sensed something but stayed quiet.
Zach continued, "The hospital was counting on you to go to Jabari. But now that your relationship with Sebastian is public, they have to reconsider."
Brooklyn put down the glass. "So, what's the decision?"
"The hospital chose Samantha."
Brooklyn knew Samantha was promoted to professor but wasn't very competent. She came from a wealthy family and had connections.
"Dr. Scott isn't suitable for this," Brooklyn said. "Her skills are okay for assisting, but leading a team might be risky."
Zach agreed. "I can't openly disclose her shortcomings to the dean, but you have a vote in the recommendation. Suggest someone more suitable."
"I'll think about it."
Zach handed her a form. "Here's the recommendation form. You're familiar with the internal medicine doctors. Once you fill it out, give it to me, and I'll pass it on to the director."
"Okay."
The first page of the form outlined the basic details of the recommended candidates. The second page covered the responsibilities and guidelines for the selected individuals. The final section noted the departure date: [the 25th].
