Chapter 376 Keeping Scarlett, There’s More to the Story
Sebastian was terrifying!
Scarlett raised her eyebrows and smiled. "Mr. Kingsley, I refuse your request. I absolutely won't cooperate with you. As for whatever competition or territory, I'm not interested."
She came to Liberty to relax, and after that, she planned to go back and get married. However, Sebastian, this scumbag, actually wanted her to deviate from her path halfway and cooperate with him. What a joke!
Sebastian remained calm and composed, not a hair out of place. He sat steadily in the back seat, his voice tinged with arrogance, "Ms. Taylor, you know very well that I'm not negotiating with you."
Although he didn't like Scarlett, so far, she was the most suitable person to fight alongside him.
He needed her strength.
Scarlett let out a cold laugh, her eyes filled with undisguised disdain and mockery. She really wanted to throw this bastard out and have him crushed into minced meat by the tires! "Mr. Kingsley, you have a fiancée. Even if it's for cooperation, you should find her. What do you want from me? I have a fiancé, and I have to consider my own reputation. Give it up. Even if you threaten me with the lives of my two assistants, I won't compromise."
Sebastian opened his eyes. By this time, the car had already arrived at the villa. The streetlights outside the villa were on.
"Do you want to hear the real reason?" He suddenly changed his tone, his voice becoming somewhat deep, unlike the arrogant tone from before. Now, it even had a hint of melancholy.
Scarlett unbuckled her seatbelt, her delicate eyebrows furrowed, "What story do you want to make up? Go ahead."
The two got out of the car and stood in the courtyard of the villa. The night wind blew through their hair and ruffled the hems of their clothes. Sebastian had one hand in his pocket, his expression distant and unreadable.
"You..." He said one word, paused, and then changed his tone, "You don't like your fiancé, and as for my fiancée, she's just a title that needed to be displayed at a certain time and place."
Scarlett brushed the hair off her face and tucked it behind her ear, her crimson lips curving, "You mean, not only do I have to cooperate with you, but I also have to break off my engagement and be with you? That's hilarious! Sebastian, you have women all around you, but unfortunately, I have no interest in you at all."
Sebastian still wasn't in a hurry. With absolute dominance and arrogance, he met her gaze. His height always allowed him to easily look down on her, "I've investigated your background. The Taylor Group has a history of over seventy years in Averlake and has always had an excellent reputation. But in the later years of your father's management, due to two financial crises, it became financially strained. Although your parents dote on you, they have still led you down the path of maintaining the group through marriage alliances."
Scarlett's eyes widened suddenly, and she gritted her teeth, questioning word by word, "You investigated me?"
Sebastian shrugged, admitting nonchalantly, "Know yourself and your enemy, and you will never be defeated in battle. Also, the King Group is indeed a top-tier conglomerate, capable of providing protection for the Taylor Group. However, Ms. Taylor, being as smart as you are, you should know that I am more suitable to protect the Taylor Group than the King Group."
Sebastian, this bastard! No wonder he had always been so calm, he had already investigated her identity thoroughly!
Scarlett's fingers curled into fists one by one, clenching tightly at her sides, "The Taylor Group is a small company. No need to trouble Mr. Kingsley! The Taylor Group and the King Group are cooperating very well!"
Sebastian's every risky move was forcing her to become his subordinate. He was terrifying!
Sebastian stood under the streetlight, the light dazzling, the rays alluring, but his face was hidden in the shadows. Only his sharp, powerful eyes gleamed inscrutably, plotting something unknown.
His deep voice still lingered around her ears as he slowly pointed out, "In the business world, you're either a friend or an enemy."
Scarlett gritted her teeth, her eyes blazing with anger as she glared at Sebastian's calm expression, wanting to bite him to death!
"Why are you clinging to me? There are plenty of rich girls in Aucester. Why the hell can't you find someone else?" Scarlett was furious.
This was good.
Sebastian calmly continued to explain, "It's simple. I chose you for three reasons. First, you meet my requirements. Second, the Taylor Group has an excellent reputation in Averlake, which can help me enter the Averlake market. Third, you're dissatisfied with your current engagement, and so am I. I help you get out, and you too."
"You're a profiteer! Stop giving me these high-sounding excuses!" Scarlett shouted.
"How you evaluate me doesn't matter, but what I want to do, so far, no one can stop. You have something I can use, and in return, I will give you what you want." he continued.
Scarlett sneered, "I don't want anything!"
"It doesn't mean you're not afraid of losing. Your parents, your fiancé, your assistants, you don't want them anymore?" Sebastian said. "That's enough. No need to spell it out. I'll give you a month to think it over."
"Sebastian, you scumbag!" Scarlett cursed.
Sebastian's eyes narrowed slightly. He slowly raised his large hand and placed it on Scarlett's shoulder, pressing down. He leaned in close to her eyes, his warm breath on her face, "Then, you better pray for a pleasant cooperation with me, a scumbag."
