Chapter 219 Tears Flowing

"Impossible! Brooklyn can't become Mrs. Kingsley! No way!"

Megan grabbed her phone, but Valery called before she could dial. "Megan, what's going on? Your scandal is everywhere! The company's in emergency PR mode, but do you realize Sebastian's their opponent?"

Megan clutched her phone, lips trembling. After a long silence, she steadied herself and said, "Valery, I can't leave the Kingsley family. All my efforts will be wasted! I have to win!"

"I get it. You're the company's star, and they want you to win too. However, things aren't looking good. Public opinion is all for Brooklyn. Even your supporters are disappearing, and their posts are being deleted."

She squinted. 'Sebastian must've stepped in. He loves Brooklyn and won't let anyone insult her. So, I have to endure this. He won't pity me.'

"I know, Valery. We need to go public with something. Listen..."

She gave detailed instructions. "Got it?"

"Got it! You always have a plan. You're a top star, and your fans will back you up. Take care."

Megan hung up, seeing a few unread news notifications.

[A life-and-death confession, every word of love brings tears.]

The headline showed a picture of Sebastian on a rooftop, with a thug holding a knife to his chest. On the other hand, Brooklyn was shouting nearby,

The caption said Brooklyn shouted, "I love you."

'"I love you"? She actually told Sebastian she loved him?! He waited three years for those words. He thought she didn't care about him.

No! I couldn't let things get worse!' Megan thought.

At the hospital, it was almost 3 AM.

The room was quiet, the clock ticking softly. Brooklyn slowly opened her eyes, seeing Sebastian slumped over the bedside. He looked uncomfortable.

She tried to pull her hand away but found it tightly held in his.

Her heart melted as tears streamed down her face, she soaking the pillow.

"Why are you so foolish?"

"Why did you force me to answer then?"

"Didn't you know I was ready to leave?"

She muttered, crying more with each word.

Sebastian stirred. She quickly wiped her tears, pretending to be unconscious.

He woke up. Seeing her still unconscious, he gently wiped her forehead. "What's going on? These doctors are useless."

'Typical of him.'

Sebastian was about to call Zach when Brooklyn opened her eyes. "Sebastian."

"You're awake!"

He dropped his phone, joy spreading across his face. He was so happy!

She closed her eyes briefly. "Yeah, I'm fine now."

"Do you feel uncomfortable? I'll call the doctor."

She shook her head. "No need, I'm a doctor. I'm fine."

Sebastian sat down, his anxious gaze turning to joy. "I'm just glad you're okay. I was really worried."

He wasn't used to saying such things. He felt awkward but tried, wanting his wife to hear sweet words.

She felt conflicted, hesitating. "Do they know about us now?"

He nodded. "Yes, you don't like it?"

"Not really..."

"If not, try to accept it. I know this might impact you, but I hope you won't be scared away."

She hadn't seen the news and didn't know the public opinion. Considering she usually lived a simple life, Sebastian wasn't sure if Brooklyn could handle the media frenzy.

Brooklyn stayed silent.

"Don't worry; I'll keep your life as private as possible. I'll stand with you against all the public opinion. Trust me, okay?"

She felt warm, her nose stinging as tears fell uncontrollably.

'Sebastian, why are you treating me like this? Don't you know it feels like you're stabbing my heart?'

She turned away, letting the tears flow.

Sebastian didn't understand. He turned her face toward him, wanting to wipe her tears. However, she shook her head in refusal.

"Tell me, what happened? Why are you crying?"
