Chapter 481 Meeting the Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law
Emporcia City, Averlake.
The weather was perfect, with a gentle breeze and clear skies.
As they stepped out of the airport, Brooklyn looked up at the endless sky and sighed, "It's been so long since I've been back. This place feels like my second home. I really miss it."
Sebastian wrapped his arm around her waist, and they walked in sync to the car waiting outside the airport. "Since you miss it so much, let's stay a few extra days this time. It'll give us a chance to catch up with your parents."
"And you? With all the work at the company, how do you have time to be here with me?" Brooklyn glanced at his handsome face, a bit worried.
Sebastian seemed unfazed. "I can leave the company matters to Dario and the others. But visiting your parents and spending time with my wife—those are things only I can do."
Brooklyn couldn't help but laugh at his explanation, her laughter spilling from her lips. "Sebastian's right. So, Sebastian, let's head straight to the Taylor Mansion. My parents are already waiting for us."
"Sure."
Even though it was just a simple word, whenever he said it, it felt like it carried countless meanings.
A vehicle was arranged by Sebastian in advance. He had arranged not only the vehicle but also filled the trunk with gifts he had meticulously prepared. Along with the gifts from Kevin, Sebastian was making quite an impression at his first meeting with Brooklyn's parents.
Throughout the drive, Sebastian held Brooklyn's hand, as if afraid she might suddenly fly away. The scenery outside the window sped by, the bustling streets of Emporcia casting fleeting shadows on the car windows.
Brooklyn leaned her head on his shoulder. "Sebastian, are you nervous or excited? You've been holding my hand for a long time now, not wanting to let go?"
Sebastian kissed her hair. "Mrs. Kingsley, the ones who are probably most nervous right now are your parents waiting at home. Why would I be nervous?"
"Oh? You're their son-in-law visiting, why would they be nervous?"
"Well, before I became their son-in-law, I accidentally became the creditor of the Taylor Group. So, technically, today is the first visit of the creditor to the debtor. Which one do you think is more nervous?"
Brooklyn lifted her head from his shoulder, looking at his calm eyes. "When did you finance the Taylor Group? How come I didn't know?"
Sebastian gently placed her head back on his shoulder. "Knowing now is not too late. But I thought, since I'm marrying the daughter of the Taylor family, gifts are a must. Giving them in advance doesn't seem like a bad idea."
Brooklyn's mouth twitched. "How much did you finance the Taylor Group with? You've spent way too much on me."
Sebastian nodded, a playful glint in his eye. "Yeah, it's quite a bit. So, my dear wife, you better stick around for a lifetime, or I'll be at a huge loss."
Brooklyn laughed, feeling a bit exasperated. "You sly businessman!"
Thinking about it, Brooklyn felt a chill. Sebastian had indeed spent a lot of money on her. During the kidnapping, he burned through a billion dollars, and the search for her "body" reportedly cost tens of billions. Their rings were worth several billion, and then there was the financing for the Taylor Group and the Mitchell Group... Oh my!
If they ever broke up and Sebastian demanded repayment, she wouldn't be able to pay it back even if she lived for five hundred years.
With that thought, Brooklyn decided not to provoke him.
The black Mercedes SUV stopped at the Taylor villa. The driver got out to open the door for them. Brooklyn stepped out and looked at the familiar courtyard of the Taylor villa, smiling brightly. "How do you like it? This is where I lived for over two years."
Sebastian nodded. "It's great, like a place that could nurture a high-IQ doctor like Scarlett."
"Sebastian, your sharp tongue knows no bounds."
As the couple whispered to each other, the Taylors were already standing at the steps of the villa, waiting to welcome their guests. Leon was pushing a wheelchair, both of them smiling and waving at Brooklyn and Sebastian from afar.
"Scarlett, my darling daughter, you're finally back."
Diana opened her arms, eager to embrace Brooklyn. Brooklyn quickly walked over and threw herself into Diana's arms, like a child, saying, "Mom, I missed you so much!"
"I missed you, too. Let me take a good look at you. How have you been in Libertya?"
"I've been doing great, Mom. Don't worry."
The mother and daughter caught up warmly, creating a touching atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Leon and Sebastian were still several feet apart. They exchanged smiles before Leon spoke up, "I've heard a lot about the president of MBK. Not only are you a business genius, but you arealso a highly sought-after man. It's great to finally meet you."
Brooklyn was taken aback, looking at Leon. How many times had he practiced that opening line? It didn't sound like his usual style, but today it felt relaxed and natural.
Sebastian, on the other hand, was impeccably dressed, as always. He wore a cream-colored suit with a matching vest and a striped tie, his tall figure exuding a hundred percent charm even without speaking.
He smiled slightly, polite and respectful yet confident. "Dad, you're too kind. Brooklyn often talks about you both, always praising you. I'm sorry it took me so long to visit."
Though he said he was sorry, his demeanor showed no hint of guilt. His courteous words were flawless, leaving no room for insincerity.
Especially, his use of "Dad" instantly closed the distance, making Leon feel like he had gained half a son. He was immediately pleased and satisfied.
"Good! Good! It's not too late. I know you're busy with work. It's great that you came."
The polite exchange continued, and Diana smiled, "You two seem to get along well. Do you want to keep talking outside? Let's go inside."
"Yes, yes, let's go inside."
Leon said as he moved to push Diana's wheelchair, but Sebastian's long arm reached the handle first. "Dad, let me push Mom. You and Brooklyn go ahead."
Such a natural term of endearment was sure to warm Diana's heart.
Brooklyn couldn't help but look back at him, whispering in his ear, "Impressive!"
Sebastian didn't respond, pushing Diana into the villa's hall. Once inside, the four of them sat down, each with a freshly brewed cup of tea in front of them.
As they entered, the driver and servants worked together to bring the gifts from the trunk into the hall. Just by looking at the packaging, it was clear these gifts were valuable.
Leon was stunned by the wall of gifts in the living room. "This... what is all this?"
"A little something for Mom and Dad. Please accept them."
A little something? This... was considered a little something? Sebastian's humility was truly eye-opening for Brooklyn.
Sebastian was polite and gracious. Even while sitting, his demeanor was as elegant as a noble. His words were as refined as those of a king on his throne.
Such a man was truly flawless.
Brooklyn felt a small sense of pride, realizing for the first time how wonderful it was to have a husband who was so generous and dignified in front of her parents.
Leon and Diana exchanged a silent glance, their surprise fleeting, but their joy and satisfaction unmistakable to Brooklyn.
"You're too kind. It's enough that you're here. You didn't have to bring so many gifts. We can't use all these things. You young people should keep them."
Sebastian replied, "These are for Mom and Dad. You've taken such good care of Brooklyn, we should show our gratitude. As for Brooklyn and me, we have our own. Don't worry, Mom and Dad, Brooklyn won't lack anything others have."
Diana was deeply moved, smiling warmly. "I think she not only has everything others have, but also things others don't."
Brooklyn said, "Mom, you're amazing. You guessed it right."
"Seeing you two so in love, your dad and I have nothing to worry about. It's wonderful."
Leon sipped his tea and asked, "I've seen your projects in Emporcia, Sebastian. They're very impressive. Even though it's been a short time, you've already overshadowed several established brands in Averlake. At this rate, you'll occupy half the market within a year."
Sebastian humbly thanked him.
In such a simple, everyday conversation, Sebastian didn't say anything particularly shocking, but his demeanor and upbringing were evident in every luxurious detail.
Brooklyn suddenly remembered something and took out the gifts from the auction, displaying them for Leon.
"Dad, do you like them?"
Leon saw the paintings by his favorite artist, his eyebrows lifting in delight. "These are his collectibles! How did you get them?"
Brooklyn gave all the credit to Sebastian. "Sebastian specifically bought them for you at the auction. I just mentioned you liked this artist, and he remembered."
Such a good impression added many points for Sebastian, making Leon even more satisfied.
"Good! Good! Sebastian, you were very thoughtful! I love these paintings!"
Sebastian didn't explain, simply agreeing, "I'm glad you like them, Dad."
Leon looked at the paintings, clearly pleased. "But, the price of these paintings must be quite high, right?"
Indeed, they weren't cheap.
Sebastian smiled serenely. "Money is easy to come by, but finding something you love is priceless. If you like them, that's the highest value."
"Well said! Sebastian, your values align with mine. We must have a few drinks later!"
Sebastian apologized, "Of course, Dad, I'd be honored to drink with you. But I need to check with Brooklyn first. She's quite strict about this."
"Oh? Is that so? Scarlett, you even control Sebastian's drinking?"
Brooklyn coughed. "Dad, Sebastian had heart surgery, so he shouldn't drink too much. Since you're having such a good time, you can have a few drinks later."
Sebastian respectfully said, "In that case, Dad, you'll have to go easy on me."
"Good! Good!"
Brooklyn was completely won over by Sebastian's actions in meeting her parents. He was so approachable, without any pretense, noble yet accessible.
If love could be upgraded, today, Brooklyn loved him even more.
