Chapter 197 He Found Us Here

'Sebastian found us here? Impressive.'

"Alright, let him come over."

Sebastian got out of the car and walked up the steps. Ahead, there was a rock garden with greenery and a pavilion.

"Brooklyn, you're getting bolder."

"I don't understand what you mean, Sebastian. I'm just out with friends. How did I upset you this time?"

'Brooklyn probably has no clue!'

"I'll tell you in person."

Then, Sebastian hung up the phone, leaving Brooklyn puzzled.

Zach also hung up and sat back on the couch. "Want some fruit? I'll peel an orange for you."

His long, clean fingers peeled the orange, carefully removing the white strings. Leaning over the table, he extended his hand towards her. "Open your mouth and taste this orange."

Brooklyn hesitated. 'He is feeding me? Isn't that a bit too intimate?'

"What's wrong? Worried I poisoned it? Or maybe you think I didn't peel it clean."

"Huh? No."

"If it's neither, then you're just punishing me by making me hold this pose?"

His laugh was so genuine and pure that she felt guilty for overthinking. She steeled herself and opened her mouth. "Thanks."

Sebastian was furious.

"Mr. Carter, you seem to enjoy taking care of my wife."

A deep voice suddenly came from behind, like strong liquor, clearly laced with Sebastian's anger.

Brooklyn leaped up from the couch, an orange slice hanging from her mouth, forgetting to chew. She stared at Sebastian, who stood on the steps in black pants and a white shirt, looking ethereal. "Sebastian, what are you doing here?"

Sebastian calmly walked up the last step, standing tall outside the pavilion, one hand in his pocket, silent.

"You told me to come here, remember?" Sebastian's face remained impassive, but a storm brewed in his eyes.

'When did I say that?' Brooklyn was stunned.

Zach smiled elegantly. "Mr. Kingsley, welcome."

Sebastian glanced at him, walking to the couch where Brooklyn had been sitting. There were only two single chairs in the pavilion.

Zach was about to get another chair, but Sebastian sat down and pulled Brooklyn onto his lap. "Don't just stand there, sit."

'Sit? On the ground? There's no chair!' Brooklyn looked around.

"Sit on my lap, Honey."

Brooklyn's eyes widened. Sebastian wanted her to sit on his lap!

Zach rubbed his forehead in frustration. "I'll get another chair."

"No need, Mr. Carter. It's fine."

Sebastian forced Brooklyn onto his lap, giving her no chance to resist. She was frail that her back pressed against his chest, feeling his heartbeat through the thin fabric. Brooklyn blushed.

Zach took a big gulp of water. Sebastian glanced at the chessboard on the table and casually brushed off the peeled orange to the ground.

"Mr. Carter, why don't we play a game?"

The tension was suffocating for Brooklyn. Sitting on Sebastian's lap, she couldn't move, feeling incredibly awkward.

Zach wiped his hands. "Sure."

Sebastian's lips curved slightly. "Choose your pieces."

Zach chose white.

Sebastian smirked. "White, good choice."

Only Sebastian knew why it was good. Chess was a game of strategy and patience. Brooklyn could tell this wouldn't end well for Zach.

Sure enough, Zach lost.

"Well played, Mr. Carter."

"Mr. Kingsley, you're skilled."

"Another round?"

"Sure."

Zach lost again.

Brooklyn couldn't bear to watch this anymore. Losing three times would be embarrassing.

"Let's stop here. Let's go somewhere else. Watching you play is boring."

Sebastian gently stroked her hair, his deep, seductive voice as charming as ever. "As you wish."

Zach put down the pieces. "What do you want to see? I'll lead the way."

Sebastian stood up, dusting off his clothes. "We're just taking a stroll. No need to lead. Mr. Carter, please tidy up the chess pieces."

Leaving Zach to clean up, Sebastian grabbed Brooklyn's hand, walking down the steps. Once down, he gripped her wrist tightly, his eyes dark with anger. "Brooklyn, you seem to enjoy cheating, don't you?"
