Chapter 222 Clearing Obstacles

In just one day, two different stories blew up in the media!

People were saying a lot of things online.

[Brooklyn and Sebastian have been secretly married for three years, but their busy schedules made them grow apart. Megan took advantage of this and got pregnant with the Kingsley family's child.]

[Megan, despite the rumors, still treats Brooklyn like a sister. She even admitted she loves Sebastian and just wants to keep the baby, asking Brooklyn not to harm the innocent child.]

Megan managed to gain public sympathy.

[Megan might be at fault, but the child is innocent. Brooklyn forcing Megan to have an abortion makes her seem heartless!]

All major forums turned against Brooklyn. Even though she was Mrs. Kingsley, her actions didn't fit the role.

Of course, this news was quickly scrubbed from the internet.

But the more it was deleted, the angrier and more suspicious people got. The slander against Brooklyn grew, and public opinion shifted dramatically. She went from being on a moral high ground to a moral abyss!

In MBK Group's president office, Sebastian slammed the newspaper onto his desk. "This is utter nonsense!"

Dario looked nervously at the furious Sebastian, cautiously asking, "Boss, what should we do now? Public opinion seems to be more sympathetic toward Ms. Turner."

'A bunch of ignorant onlookers! They all deserve to be shot!'

Sebastian furrowed his brows deeply. After a long board meeting, he was already exhausted. Now, Megan dared to make such news; she was testing his limits!

"Contact Megan. I will see her."

Dario's legs trembled with fear. "Boss, it's a critical time right now. If you go to see Ms. Turner and the reporters find out, they'll write even more nonsense. The mainstream media and many small magazines are all waiting to see how things develop to gain traffic. We can't shut them all down."

Sebastian picked up his phone and dialed Megan's number. To his surprise, Jennifer answered.

Jennifer had gone from the Kingsley family to Bayside Villas, now sitting face-to-face with Megan in the living room.

"Sebastian."

Her calm tone made Sebastian frown deeply.

"Jennifer? Why are you answering?"

"If it weren't me, you'd be losing your temper at Megan, wouldn't you? Let me make it clear: I won't tolerate anyone harming my grandson."

He clenched his fist against the table. "Jennifer, this isn't your business. Give the phone to Megan. I need to ask her something."

"Wouldn't it be easier to ask me directly? Go ahead." Jennifer gave Megan a reassuring look, signaling her not to panic.

Actually, Megan wasn't panicking. With Jennifer by her side, she felt invincible.

Sebastian closed his eyes in anger, his breathing heavy.

"Fine! Answer me, did you make up the story about the child?"

Sebastian, not caring that Jennifer was present, directly questioned Megan.

"I didn't, Sebastian. I'm very worried about the baby. I'm a mother; is it wrong for me to worry about my child? I can give up everything, but I must ensure the baby's safety. Is that wrong?"

'Damn it! It was Megan,' Sebastian fumed.

"Sebastian, do you think Brooklyn can stay in the Kingsley family after her identity is exposed? She doesn't truly love you."

He didn't listen to another word and hung up, ordering Dario, "Delete all the negative news. I won't let her be hurt by public opinion."

'Negative public opinion would harm Brooklyn, but with her personality, she wouldn't clarify or defend herself, and she would suffer for it.'

"Yes! I'll selectively release some news about you and Ms. Mitchell, hoping this will make the current news gradually disappear."

"Go ahead. Have Owen prepare the car; I'm going to the hospital."

After a day's rest, Brooklyn had almost fully recovered by evening. Her neck wound wasn't deep, but she had lost a lot of blood. After some adjustment, she was fine.

"Are you saying there's a chance my neck wound will leave a scar?"

She touched the bandage on her neck. 'Would I have to live with an ugly scar on my neck?' She was a bit concerned.

The doctor changing her dressing carefully hedged, "I'm just saying it's a chance... Don't worry, it might not happen."

"No maybe about it. She can't have any scars on her body."

Sebastian opened the VIP ward door, striding to the window. He looked at the doctor with misty eyes, almost making the doctor kneel.

"Mr. Kingsley."

He said coldly, "I said, there must be no scars on her neck. In two days, minimally invasive experts from Hanland will arrive in Aucester. They will handle it."

The doctor's forehead was drenched in sweat, his back soaked despite the comfortable room temperature. "Yes."

"Get out."

'Daring to say such things in front of Brooklyn was asking for trouble!' Sebastian thought.
