Chapter 365 Meeting You Is My Biggest Trouble

James stormed off, leaving Ashley standing there, a spectacle for everyone to see.

So, who was James, anyway?

James was the newly appointed chairman of the big-shot company, Infinite International Group, over in Aucester. After his dad passed away, he was the only one who could inherit the family estate, being the eldest son of the Rivera family.

James was also known for being quite the playboy, so dumping a woman was just another Tuesday for him.

An hour later, at a fancy café in the mall.

Kelly raised her coffee cup with both hands, "Scarlett! Cheers to you! You were so badass earlier!"

Scarlett, sitting across from her, frowned. "The goddess you're talking about? Who is she?"

Kelly put down her coffee cup and scratched her head, "She was my best friend, Brooklyn Mitchell, but she passed away two years ago in an accident."

"I'm sorry to bring up something that makes you sad."

Kelly waved her hand, "It's okay. You actually remind me of her in some ways, but you're more assertive. Well, she was assertive at first too, but she changed because of someone. Anyway, let's not dwell on it. Let's enjoy our coffee!"

Brooklyn?

'I think I've heard that name from Sebastian before,' Scarlett thought.

Given Kelly's status, she and Sebastian were worlds apart. It's impossible for them to know the same people, let alone be so closely connected.

Scarlett took a sip of her Blue Mountain coffee, and Kelly looked at her like she'd seen a ghost, "You can actually drink this kind of coffee? You're amazing."

Scarlett shrugged, "Really? I don't think so."

Well, goddesses were usually in a different league from ordinary people.

Kelly proudly pushed two desserts forward, "Here are chocolate cake and espresso cake, super delicious. You'll love them!"

Scarlett recoiled at the sight of the sweet cakes, "You actually eat such sweet things?"

"They're really good! Plus, eating sweets makes me happy. Whenever I'm down, I eat desserts and instantly feel better! You should try some!" Kelly scooped a spoonful and offered it to her. Scarlett dodged like it was the plague, "No thanks."

Alright, Scarlett was different from Brooklyn. Kelly had to ignore Scarlett's voice.

"Oh, by the way, do you know who that guy was today? You didn't seem to recognize him." Kelly finally remembered.

Scarlett held her coffee cup to her lips, "Why waste time and energy on someone irrelevant? Better to handle your own affairs."

Kelly scratched her head, "Scarlett, can you be a bit more approachable?"

Scarlett shook her head.

Kelly slapped the table, "The guy you just turned down is James Rivera, the current chairman of Infinite International Group, one of the richest dudes in Aucester! Let me give you the lowdown: Aucester has four major families, and the most powerful one is the Kingsley family, MBK International Building..."

Oh? Infinite International Group? James? So, the party Scarlett's about to attend is to celebrate James's promotion?

Scarlett crossed her arms to stop Kelly, who was lost in her daydreams, "Kelly, I gotta go. I have something to do."

"What? Goddess, you're not just aloof, you're brutally direct when you turn people down!" Kelly said.

"Sorry, I'm really in a hurry. Also, I'm not interested in the four major families you mentioned." Scarlett apologized.

Kelly was upset, clenching her small fists, "If you're not interested in the four major families, what are you interested in? Fine! Just be cautious of James, he's a notorious playboy."

"OK."

Kelly reluctantly asked, "Can I invite you out for coffee? Or to see a movie? There's a really good comedy out now!"

Scarlett remained silent.

"If you don't say anything, I'll take it as a yes! How about this weekend? Or tomorrow?" Kelly continued.

Scarlett remained silent.

Why was Kelly so enthusiastic? Why so much for a stranger?

"See you then!" Kelly added.

Watching Scarlett's graceful figure walk away, Kelly was worried. Do goddesses all have such low emotional intelligence?

Scarlett was so hard to get along with! It looked like Scarlett's life needs her to save it!

'Go, Kelly! You're the warrior tasked with breaking down the goddess's communication barriers!' Kelly thought.

Scarlett returned to the villa and let out a long sigh of relief. Luckily, Sebastian wasn't there.

But who knew, as soon as she stepped into the living room, a voice floated out from the side room. "Ms. Taylor."

Why did he always appear like a demon out of nowhere!

Scarlett tied up her hair and responded coldly, "The party starts tomorrow. I hope you're ready."

"Don't worry," Scarlett replied.

He wasn't really reassured. "I need to remind you that attending this party with me might bring you troubles you've never encountered before."

Sebastian wasn't keen on chatting with her, but the matter was serious enough to warrant a warning.

Scarlett tied her apron and held a carrot in her hand, "Sir, meeting you has been the biggest trouble of my life. I don't think anything can top that, so it's unnecessary to worry about that."

Sebastian was silent.

Scarlett glanced at the clock and nodded her chin, "Also, I'm about to start preparing dinner. If you want to eat on time, please keep a forty-foot distance from the kitchen starting now. Thank you for your cooperation."
