Chapter 133 Megan Barged In
"Mr. Carter, you're very busy with work, so you don't need to worry about these small matters. I'll be able to return to the hospital in a few days. Fortunately, it's my left hand that's injured, and I don't need surgery, so it won't affect my work."
Brooklyn was about to hang up and focus on her thesis when Zach suddenly asked, "What kind of plants do you like? Do you like orchids? I think a cast-iron plant would suit you."
'Isn't that a random topic?' Brooklyn couldn't help thinking.
"Me? Anything is fine. I don't really know much about plants or have any specific preferences."
Brooklyn quickly flipped through a book, looking for a case study to reference.
"Alright, I got it. Take care and rest well. See you when you come back to work," Zach said, then hung up.
Brooklyn felt a bit puzzled but hung up and continued typing, not thinking much of it.
Zach put down his phone just as Victoria Walker, the deputy director of the respiratory department, walked in. "Mr. Carter, here are the documents you requested."
"Just leave them there. I'll look at them in a bit."
"Okay."
After finishing her report and preparing to leave, Zach looked up and asked, "Is there a place nearby that sells plants?"
"Yes, it's about a ten-minute walk. Just turn right after you exit the main gate. Do you need something?" Victoria asked.
Zach smiled gracefully. "Yes, I have something to do. You can go back to your work."
Bayside Villas.
"Mrs. Kingsley, Ms. Turner is here. Ms. Turner, and Mrs. Kingsley is in the study on the second floor. You..."
"I know the way!"
Brooklyn had just heard the conversation when Megan, who stood at the doorway with a wild, arrogant smile, abruptly pushed the study door open.
"Brooklyn, you really have some nerve to come back here," Megan sneered.
Megan leaned against the doorframe like she owned the place as if Brooklyn were the one who should be questioned as the mistress.
Brooklyn continued typing while saying, "Megan, Sebastian isn't home. If you're looking for him, now's not a good time."
She was feeling dizzy from working on her thesis and didn't want to argue with Megan.
Megan walked over to her. "Brooklyn, is your arm useless now? You're a doctor. If you lose an arm, you'll be useless, too. Are you back at the Kingsley family to have Sebastian take care of you?"
"I don't have time for your nonsense. Get out." Brooklyn struggled to type with one hand, making slow progress and only managing to write a thousand words after a long time.
"Who are you to act all proper? Brooklyn, you're just a bitch!"
Megan quickly grabbed the keyboard and held down the delete key, erasing all the words on the screen in no time!
Brooklyn was furious. All her hard work on the thesis was gone!
"Megan, who do you think you are, acting crazy here? Sebastian and I are still married. This is our home, not a place for you to act out. Get out!" Brooklyn yelled.
Megan crossed her arms. "Get out? Just wait and see who really needs to leave."
At this moment, Isabella walked over and whispered, "Mrs. Kingsley, where should I put Ms. Turner's things?"
Brooklyn stepped out and saw a dozen boxes in the living room. "What's all this?"
Megan descended the stairs with a smug look. "These are my things. I'll be coming here often from now on. After all, the baby's prenatal education can't be without his father. Don't look at me like that. Auntie Jennifer personally agreed to this. After all, I'm the one carrying Sebastian's child, not you."
This pregnancy was really working in her favor.
If she weren't pregnant, Megan might never have been able to win over Jennifer, let alone have the chance to visit Sebastian's room.
But things would be different from now on. Megan would slowly replace Brooklyn and become Sebastian's wife!
Brooklyn's fingers pressed against the handrail. "Do whatever you please."
'Jennifer really wants me out of the Kingsley family as soon as possible; otherwise, she wouldn't have agreed to such a ridiculous thing.' Brooklyn felt a chill in her heart and smiled bitterly.
Using offspring to gain favor—how disgusting.
They were so addicted to this game.
How laughable.
Megan demanded to stay in the main bedroom on the second floor. Isabella stepped forward to stop her. "Ms. Turner, the master bedroom is Mr. Kingsley and Mrs. Kingsley's room. You should stay in the guest room."
"It's not your place to speak! The guest room? Do you want the future eldest grandson of the Kingsley family to stay in the guest room? Are you tired of living? Get out!"
Isabella was scolded away by Megan, and Savannah and Madison didn't dare to say a word.
Brooklyn watched the farce unfold. "Isabella, let her move in. You all can go back to your work."
She wearily returned to the study, trying to recover her deleted thesis, only to find that Megan had not only deleted the text but also the entire document. Megan had gone too far!
Brooklyn's belongings were all stuffed into a cardboard box by the servants. Her skincare products, jewelry, and a few pieces of clothing from her wardrobe were all crumpled inside as if she would be kicked out at any moment.
"Brooklyn, you only have these cheap things, and you still let them occupy the bedroom. I'm embarrassed for you. But it doesn't matter; these shabby things will never appear here again! And you, too, will have to get out of here!"
"Mr. Kingsley, you're back. Ms. Turner is..."
Sebastian was back?
Both Brooklyn and Megan's expressions changed.
Megan's slender fingers poked Brooklyn's forehead, her crystal-embedded nails digging in sharply.
"Brooklyn, the father of my child, is back. You'll never set foot in here again."
Sebastian looked up and saw a pile of things at the end of the spiral staircase. He frowned slightly, lifted his foot, and slowly ascended the steps.
