Chapter 122 Who Hurt You
Caught between them, Brooklyn felt as if she were standing at the edge of a cliff. One step forward would bring her to Sebastian, who looked terrifying. One step back, and Zach might be killed by Sebastian.
After three seconds of internal struggle, Brooklyn decided to choose Sebastian. Zach was a gentle and refined doctor who only wielded a knife for surgery, but Sebastian was the one who wielded a dagger. No, he was the one who wielded a machine gun. Provoking him would lead to a miserable end.
Sebastian glanced at the coat on her that belonged to another man, casting a look of disdain. Brooklyn understood and began to take off the coat to hand it to Zach. Before he could take it, Sebastian grabbed her wrist, causing the coat to fall to the ground.
Brooklyn glared at Sebastian and whispered in his ear, "What are you doing?"
Sebastian leaned down, asking, "What do you think?"
As he moved closer, the crisp scent of tequila enveloped her. Brooklyn looked at him, feeling the beautiful scenery behind him was different.
Zach ignored the fallen coat and stepped forward, saying, "Sebastian, Dr. Mitchell's hand was cut by a knife. She needs rest more than anything right now. What are you doing?"
Sebastian and Zach locked eyes, their gazes clashing in the air. Sebastian snorted and said coldly, "Rest? Here? I don't see how that's possible."
Zach maintained his professional demeanor as a doctor, not compromising on his patient's care. "Dr. Mitchell's artery was injured. She can't handle any more stress. She should lie down and rest until the wound heals before moving. You're worried about her, and as a doctor, so am I."
Sebastian had already caught the underlying meaning in his words. "You're Zach? There are plenty of patients for you to worry about. I'll take care of her."
Zach still wasn't reassured and said to Brooklyn softly, "Take care of yourself. Pay attention to daily matters these days."
"Zach," Sebastian called his name with obvious displeasure, a clear warning, "She's a doctor. She doesn't need your concern."
Brooklyn nodded at Zach, signaling him not to argue with Sebastian, as it would be pointless.
But her kind glance towards Zach lightly pricked his pride as a man.
It wasn't that he lacked the ability to protect her or the right to stand on equal footing with Sebastian to fight for her.
These were things she didn't know.
However, compared to these, the unspoken admiration in Brooklyn's eyes when she looked at Sebastian was the most fatal blow.
The other doctors were all shocked!
The villagers didn't recognize Sebastian and mistook him for a member of a hospital or government rescue team. But the doctors knew better!
The man before them was the master of the Kingsley family, Sebastian of MBK Group, who had an improper relationship with Megan, the most popular star in the film industry!
Why was Sebastian here? And what was the situation with Zach clearly competing with him for Brooklyn?
The young doctors exchanged confused, astonished, and dumbfounded looks.
They didn't even dare to gossip, each holding their medical instruments and pretending nothing had happened.
Sebastian didn't rush to take Brooklyn away but instead looked at her coldly, like a judge, and asked, "Who hurt you?"
Having heard Zach mention that she was cut by a knife, he needed to get to the bottom of this.
Brooklyn felt uneasy at his question. Based on Sebastian's temper, Tyler from earlier was likely doomed.
The doctors and patients watching the scene all turned their attention to Sebastian, their nerves taut. They could see the murderous intent in his eyes.
Brooklyn raised her face and forced a nonchalant smile. "Everyone can be careless and accidentally cut themselves. I did this to myself."
Sebastian sneered contemptuously and then looked at Zach. Although he didn't want to acknowledge Zach, he needed to get to the bottom of this.
Sebastian could torment others, but he couldn't tolerate anyone making him unhappy. "What really happened?"
Zach knew Brooklyn was protecting the man from earlier, so he echoed, "Dr. Mitchell accidentally..."
"Very well, you're both lying. In that case, I'll kill everyone in this village until the culprit steps forward."
As he spoke, Sebastian lazily gestured towards the helicopter, his demeanor so indifferent as if killing people was effortless for him. He didn't even consider the consequences of such an act.
He didn't need to consider the consequences.
Nathan, seeing this, panicked and ran over, trembling and prostrating before Sebastian. He realized that Sebastian wouldn't let this go easily.
"Sir, Dr. Mitchell's injury was my fault. If you need to vent your anger, take it out on me. Let them go."
Brooklyn tried to get up in agitation, but her wound started bleeding again.
Zach hurried to stop the bleeding, but Brooklyn waved him off. "No need.
"Sebastian, the person who hurt me wasn't him. This is my issue, and I choose not to hold anyone responsible. So you have no right to interfere."
Sebastian's cold gaze fixed on her. "I have no right? Do you need me to show you?"
Sebastian signaled to the man holding a gun behind him. Then, the man pulled the trigger.
