Chapter 180 One Blanket, Two People

Sebastian glanced at Brooklyn before responding, hoping to see a hint of emotion on her face. However, Brooklyn remained motionless, expressionless, and lazily leaning against the head of the bed, seemingly intending to rest with her eyes closed.

Sebastian held his phone with a long finger. "We'll talk about this later."

He was a bit tired of dealing with family matters, especially those involving Megan and Brooklyn.

Megan, easily satisfied with a few perks like the latest handbags and a little tenderness, could serve as the Kingsley family's figurehead for decades.

As for Brooklyn, she was independent enough not to care about his concerns.

Once he started worrying, he had to offer his whole heart. No, even that wasn't enough.

"What do you mean 'later'? You're going back to Kingsley Villa tonight! Megan is pregnant, and any emotional turmoil will affect the baby's development. You're the child's father; you have to take responsibility!" Jennifer insisted.

It was always about the child.

Brooklyn couldn't understand. If Megan wasn't pregnant, would she have no value in Jennifer's eyes?

"I am occupied. I can't go back tonight." Sebastian wearily responded.

"I don't care. You're going back to Kingsley Villa right away, Sebastian. Megan is the one I've chosen as your wife. You've been together for years, and just because of Brooklyn, Megan has been wronged. Now that she's pregnant, do you want to mistreat her? You can do it, but I can't! If you don't divorce soon, I'll announce Megan as Mrs. Kingsley!"

Brooklyn listened carefully to every word, and Jennifer meant business.

Jennifer was such a formidable character. Over twenty years ago, she was already well-known. She swiftly handled the scandal that had rocked the Kingsley family then.

Sebastian frowned deeply. "I'm out of town and can't go back. That's it."

With that, Sebastian hung up the phone.

Brooklyn opened her eyes and saw his discomfort and displeasure. "You should go back. Jennifer seems really angry."

"Jennifer is my mother, and you are my wife. That's an unchangeable fact." He declared her identity dominantly, giving her no chance to continue avoiding the situation.

Brooklyn felt like laughing. "I heard your conversation on the phone just now. She has decided that Megan is your wife. So, Sebastian, we..."

'Should get a divorce.' She tried to finish the line, but Sebastian wouldn't give her the chance to say those words. "I told them we're not in Aucester right now, so I can't go back to Kingsley Villa tonight. I can't go back to the mansion either, not only tonight but also the next few days."

Brooklyn tightened her grip on the blanket. "So what?"

"Although this hospital room is simple, the bed is big enough. I'll stay here tonight." Sebastian replied.

"You're staying at the hospital?" Brooklyn was stunned.

"What? Does Mrs. Kingsley not want her husband's company? Or are you waiting for Dr. Carter to come over?" Sebastian's words cut off Brooklyn's response.

She didn't mean that. Brooklyn wanted to tell him that the hospital environment wasn't suitable for someone used to luxurious villas.

"There are no toiletries here." She finally said something sounded familiar.

"It doesn't matter," Sebastian replied casually.

Since he wasn't bothered, Brooklyn decided not to be overly dramatic.

Claiming not to care, he had Dario deliver a set of personal toiletries.

Brooklyn watched as Sebastian entered the VIP room's bathroom to freshen up. She found it both infuriating and amusing. Just moments ago, they were arguing fiercely, and now they were coexisting in the same room as if nothing had happened.

Feeling exhausted, Brooklyn curled up in the bed, her eyelids heavy.

After finishing his grooming and changing into pajamas, Sebastian lifted the blanket, which smelled of disinfectant, and slipped into bed.

A rush of heat enveloped Brooklyn as Sebastian's scorching breath surrounded her, tenseing her back. Sebastian's intense heat seemed to suffocate her, his presence consuming her every breath.

Sebastian's strong arm wrapped around her shoulders from behind, startling Brooklyn to the point where she almost jumped up. But he seemed to anticipate it and held her down.

"What are you doing?" Brooklyn's voice trembled.

He had done this many times before, and she had developed a phobia.

From a sleepless night to risking his life to save someone to dealing with the Lawson Group's affairs, Sebastian had gone 24 hours without rest. His constant vigilance and physical exertion, combined with little food, had worn him out.

So, Sebastian was tired out.

"Don't worry. I'm not interested in a sick woman." His words were merciless, but his hands were terrifyingly gentle.

Sebastian was too gentle, his tenderness both unfamiliar and bone-chilling.

Brooklyn's once strong resolve melted away in the face of his gentleness, and her voice softened, "The hospital's disinfectant smell may be strong, but you'll get used to it."

He grunted in acknowledgment, holding her tightly against his back like a child seeking comfort, his chin resting on her neck. There was no scent of disinfectant between their breaths, only a faint fragrance from her hair after the bath.

Brooklyn's breathing quickened, and she bit her lip nervously. "Are you feeling cold?"

With Sebastian's long arm wrapped around her waist and the warmth radiating from him, she wondered if he had a fever.

It wasn't a fever; it was desire!

Sebastian's arm reached through her waist and the bedding, pulling her closer and turning her. Sebastian didn't like her back facing him.

As she was forced to face Sebastian, Brooklyn's heart raced faster. She stared at Sebastian, who shared the same pillow with her, biting her lip and unable to speak.
Dear CEO, Please Be Gentle!
