Chapter 273 Come to My Office Immediately

Dario silently observed Sebastian's reaction.

'Mr. Kingsley can remain silent because he isn't ready to handle the issue yet. But the change in his expression already shows he is angry.' Dario thought.

Nearly an hour later, the noise in the restless office gradually subsided. Seeing that Sebastian hadn't spoken, the others also gradually fell silent.

When the noise completely stopped, Sebastian lazily straightened up. He casually glanced around at those present and pretended to be unsure of how to handle the situation, asking, "Since everyone has so many opinions on this matter, why don't you tell me how it should be handled?"

Behind the seemingly humble and respectful demeanor was Sebastian's unfathomable cunning.

Thus, Sebastian's attitude left everyone speechless.

Larry Campbell, sitting in the front right, said worriedly, "Mr. Kingsley, for the sake of the group's image, you should pay attention to your private life. The less contact with the Mitchell Group, the better."

'After talking for so long, this is the answer they come up with?' Sebastian thought, dissatisfied.

So he said, "Mr. Campbell, if I remember correctly, you were also an senior employee of the Mitchell Group. You only joined MBK Group after Mr. Mitchell passed away. Now that Mr. Mitchell is gone, you speak of your former boss this way. Should I consider this more, or am I already overthinking it?"

Sebastian's words made Larry's face turn pale!

Brian, sitting in his chair, saw Sebastian directly hitting the board members' vulnerabilities, and his eyes narrowed.

'Sebastian is getting stronger and stronger. Who knows? Maybe, one day I will not be able to control him.' Thinking of this, Brian tapped the table, a hint of ruthlessness flashing in his eyes.

The board members closed their mouths. Clearly, they were no match for Sebastian and didn't dare to challenge his authority alone.

Sebastian suddenly sneered, his young and handsome face exuding a maturity and steadiness far beyond his actual age. "Stock prices rise and fall. The business world is never unchanged. If you don't dare to take risks, you can leave now. If you want to get rich with MBK Group, keep your eyes wide open and see the current economic situation clearly. Instead of focusing on my private life, you might as well take a good look at the big data. It seems the next real estate crisis is brewing."

They had no idea!

Brian squinted his eyes hard, his hoarse voice like a viper's, "Yancy, how credible is Sebastian's talk of a real estate crisis?"

Yancy Morris leaned forward and said, "Mr. Brian Kingsley, although I'm not sure about future trends of the real estate market, Mr. Kingsley has always been very accurate in his assessments. If he says there's a problem, then there's a problem."

Brian muttered an indistinct sound, his eyes drawn to a photo and the text in the newspaper. "Is her condition that grave?"

He thought, 'Such crisis management tactics were just a stalling measure; after the media frenzy dies down, who will bother to dig deeper? Who will dare to investigate?'

For the first time, Brian regarded Brooklyn with a flicker of new respect. At least her courage revealed she was no useless woman.

The board meeting ended amidst a whirlwind of anxiety. Ignoring the astonished stares of everyone in the room, Sebastian rose and strode purposefully toward the door.

Dario quickly caught up with him, speaking in a low voice, "Mr. Kingsley, I've confirmed that Aucester Hospital does indeed have a Jabari aid program. However, there's something else."

The confirmation eased some of the tension in Sebastian's brow—Brooklyn hadn't lied to him.

"What else?"

Dario handed over Brooklyn's resignation letter, as delivered to George, without a word. "Mrs. Kingsley has resigned from the hospital, so even though there's a Jabari medical aid program, Mrs. Kingsley can no longer participate as a representative of the doctors."

Sebastian's brow furrowed again as he scanned the resignation letter. It was handwritten, sincere, and unexpectedly resolute.

He thought, 'Why did she resign so suddenly? Was what she told the reporters actually true?'

"Prepare the car. We're going back to Bayside Villas."

Dario hesitated for a moment. "Mr. Kingsley, the situation with the group…"

"We'll deal with it later. For now, back to Bayside Villas."

"Understood!"

Before Sebastian could move, his phone rang. It was Brian.

"Get to my office immediately. I mean it—immediately."

With that, the call ended abruptly.

His voice, tight with irritation, demanded, "Get the car ready."

"Right away!"

At that moment, back at Bayside Villas, Brooklyn's phone had been ringing nonstop since she woke up.

There were calls from the hospital, her classmates, Susie, Kelly, and so on.

She was getting increasingly frustrated by the constant interruptions.

And now, as if to add to her exasperation, her phone rang again.

On the screen, the number she'd expected to call first had finally appeared, but it was late.

"Dr. Carter."

Zach was holding a newspaper, its front page dominated by a photo of Sebastian holding Brooklyn's hand, both of them basking in the spotlight of a high-profile display of affection.

The camellias accentuated the woman's beauty, and even though the newspaper quality was poor, her presence seemed almost to leap off the page.

"You've resigned from the hospital. Since I'm no longer your boss, can we drop the formalities?" He started, but didn't immediately address last night's events.

Brooklyn stared at him, puzzled. "Is there something you need to discuss, or are you here to ask about the Jabari project?"

Her directness left Zach's carefully considered opening line hanging in the air. "So, are you still committed to going?"

Last night had stirred up a massive upheaval…

"I'm still going to Jabari. That won't change because of this," Brooklyn said firmly.

Zach, who should have felt relieved, only found his chest tightening. He tugged at his tie, his elegant fingers restless. "If you'd rather stay, I won't stop you. If you want to spend your remaining time with him, that's your choice."

It was this kind of gentle understanding that had drawn Brooklyn deeper into her situation.

Brooklyn smiled. "I promised I'd go to Jabari with you, and I won't break that promise. You also promised my parents you'd be with me till the end. So, I'll be going with you." That unwavering commitment drifted into Sebastian's ears at the moment he opened the bedroom door. He was stunned to hear his wife's promise to someone else!

Sebastian's fingers tightened around the doorknob, his eyes, cold as ice, burning with anger and sorrow.

"Who were you talking to just now?"

Sebastian's deep, commanding voice shattered the silence of the room, sudden and forceful.

Brooklyn whirled around, her eyes locking onto Sebastian's intense gaze.

It was this kind of gentle understanding that made Brooklyn go deeper and deeper.

Brooklyn smiled, "I promised you I would go to Jabari together and I won't break my word. You also promised my parents that you would accompany me to the end. So, I will go with you."

'So, she will go with him?' Sebastian thought.

The firm promise drifted into his ears just as Sebastian pushed open the bedroom door, hearing Brooklyn making a promise to someone else!

Sebastian's fingers tightened around the doorknob, his icy eyes filled with anger and sorrow!

"Who were you just talking to?" Sebastian's deep, powerful voice suddenly broke the silence in the bedroom, too fast, too sudden.

Brooklyn turned around in panic, her eyes meeting Sebastian's pupils.
