Chapter 192 Does Love Make Sense?

Megan clung to her last shred of hope, waiting for his response.

Sebastian glanced at her, his deep gaze revealing nothing. His emotions were a mystery.

But the coldness in his eyes and his aloof expression were clear as day. "No."

His answer was blunt and unyielding, instantly changing Megan's expression.

Did he really feel nothing for her except for the child?

Tears welled up in Megan's eyes, streaming down her face. Her delicate features flushed with heartache as she bit down hard on her teeth. "So, you're keeping me here just because of the child?"

Megan closed her eyes, tears wetting her face, her beauty marred by smudged eyeliner.

Sebastian didn't flinch, nor did he rush to answer. When Megan opened her eyes again, he asked slowly, "Do you really think I care that much about this child?"

His tone was icy, far from what one would expect for someone talking to the mother of his child.

Megan's back stiffened, her fingers clenching into fists. "Sebastian, what do you mean?"

Sebastian threw the documents in his hand to the ground, making Megan flinch.

"How long have we been together? Do you think I wouldn't know?" His cold, handsome face was a mask of icy elegance and brutality. His deep gaze seemed to pierce through her, seeing right into her soul.

Megan's sobs grew louder, her shoulders shaking violently. "Sebastian, how can you say that? Do you really think this child isn't yours?"

Sebastian's brows furrowed as he watched her cry.

"You know better than I do." His words were cold.

Megan's tears flowed even harder. "Sebastian, how can you suspect me? This child is yours. That night, when you were drunk, you mistook me for Brooklyn and kept calling her name while we were together."

Sebastian's brows furrowed deeply!

"You called her name while you were with me! But this child is indeed yours. That night, you required to have sex with me many times, and then..." Megan added.

Sebastian's fists clenched. "And then?" Veins bulged on the back of his hand.

"After a while, I couldn't take it anymore and passed out. When I woke up, you were still asleep. I left the hotel because of an urgent notice. Don't you remember any of it?" Megan said.

Was he drunk in a hotel? Multiple times in one night?

Why did Sebastian have no memory of it? Sebastian remembered Megan calling him numerous times that night to come and keep her company, but he wasn't drunk. How could he have been in a drunken stupor?

"Sebastian, even without this child, I saved your life five years ago. How can you treat me like this?" Megan asked.

She had the nerve to bring it up, practically begging for trouble!

"Megan! Watch it!" Sebastian's voice dropped to a growl.

She'd hit a nerve, a sore spot no one had dared to touch for five years!

Five years ago, Sebastian had a car accident in Averlake, which was kept a secret even from the Kingsley family.

Megan, back then a nobody, had been on a vacation there and saved him, taking him to the hospital. Sebastian was unconscious for three days, waking up to find her by his bed, tears in her eyes.

"I know what I'm saying. Sebastian, you've been distant with me for years. You've used me to provoke Brooklyn, and I let you because I love you!" Megan said.

Tears smudged her eyeliner, marring her beautiful face. "For five years, I've been there whenever you needed me. When you were angry, happy, wanted me, or didn't, I never complained. So why did you pick someone else in the end?"

Sebastian's brow furrowed deeply.

Megan had done him a favor, and he'd paved her way to stardom in the entertainment industry. But he'd never developed feelings for her.

Since then, their interactions had been strictly business. Megan's gratitude was met with a nod, her invitations ignored.

Would Sebastian fall for her or marry her just because she stayed by his bedside for a few days? Absurd!

But Megan seemed fixated on this, trying to manipulate him and make him feel guilty.

"Do you think because you saved me, I should marry you and make you the lady of the Kingsley family?" Sebasian's tone was indifferent, but Megan's kindness over the years wouldn't just disappear.

Tears streamed down Megan's face as she moved closer, crouching at his feet to gently embrace his legs. "Isn't that enough? I saved you, stayed with you for three days and nights, and loved you for five years. What has Brooklyn given you?"

What had Brooklyn given him?

From the moment he first saw Brooklyn, he knew he had fallen.

Was love anything rational after all?
