Chapter 346 A Total Jerk, Case Closed
'What a blunt and heartless thing to say! Are all rich young guys like this? Fancy, loaded, arrogant, and cold-hearted. Business marriages can happen without love, just tying two people together with money, especially when the guy's got the upper hand, with a wife at home and a side chick on the outside. Seriously, this guy's no good!
Thinking about it, Kevin's actually pretty decent, even though technically, our families are in a business marriage too. I wear the diamond ring he gave me, it's super shiny and expensive, like it's locking my finger, and he's trying to win my heart too.' Scarlett thought to herself, realizing this guy was definitely a jerk!
Megan whispered something at the next table, Sebastian responded in kind, and she left with her head down.
'This woman is really attractive, with a great figure. And this jerk still isn't satisfied? There must be something wrong with his brain. Guys who hurt women are the worst,' Scarlett thought, holding her fork and frowning. She decided to stay out of it. After all, she was heading back to Averlake in a few days to marry Kevin.
She took another bite of the fish. It tasted amazing. Such a fancy restaurant, she should definitely get a membership card.
She enjoyed her meal, then locked eyes with Sebastian at the adjacent table. Their gazes held: one mocking and disdainful, the other deep and unreadable.
Scarlett chewed her fish, her lips curling into a mocking smile, cursing inwardly, "Jerk!"
Sebastian's eyes darkened as he thought, 'She's the second person to dare look at me like that!'
After finishing her meal, Scarlett glanced up to find Sebastian still seated, the untouched table cluttered with dishes.
He sat there, straight and expressionless, exuding an air of nobility. If she didn't know his true nature, Scarlett might have been deeply attracted by his looks.
'I used to think Kevin was very handsome, and he's tall and strong too, but this guy seems more impressive. Why compare them? There's no comparison between him and Kevin.' Snapping out of it, Scarlett walked out of the restaurant.
Sebastian remained seated, his thoughts unclear, perhaps lost in a daze, not actively thinking. An indescribable emotion tugged at him, making him involuntarily recall the arrogant stranger.
"Mr. Kingsley, the food has gone cold. Would you like it reheated?" The waiter noticed Sebastian hadn't touched his meal and the heat had dissipated, so he came over to ask.
Sebastian casually remarked, "Nah, just get me the same dishes she's having at that table."
Earlier, he had seen Scarlett eating with such enjoyment that he hadn't noticed he was entranced by watching her eat.
"Alright, please wait a moment."
The next day, in the presidential suite of the Nightfall Hotel.
Lisa looked out the window at the sunny weather and sighed, "Ms. Taylor, maybe Libertya isn't as bad as you thought? My trip was pretty smooth after landing. Could it have been your mood messing with your judgment yesterday?"
Scarlett lazily sat on the sofa, her hair casually tied up, revealing a smooth, fair forehead. She was flipping through documents to prepare for tomorrow's conference. She sipped her coffee, frowned, and asked, "You like this place?"
Lisa smiled and shrugged. "I don't know, but Libertya has a long and intriguing history. If you dig a little deeper, you might uncover some fascinating stuff."
Scarlett was indifferent. "I'm not really in the mood to explore. Once the conference wraps up, we can start getting ready to head back."
"What? So soon? Weren't you planning to travel around here? They say there are some stunning and enigmatic cities around. Don't you want to take a look?" Lisa inquired.
Honestly, Scarlett didn't want to go anywhere now. She felt it would be better to return to Emporcia and stay with her parents. "Modify the places I marked in the documents electronically and print them out for me again."
"Alright."
Scarlett picked up her coffee and walked to the tall floor-to-ceiling window, holding her elbow with her other hand, looking out at the distant scenery. The MBK Group logo outside the white building was even more prominent.
She recalled that Aucester Hospital was affiliated with MBK International, whose CEO was Sebastian Kingsley.
"Ms. Taylor, have you discovered any delicious food in Libertya? People say the food here is really delicious!" Lisa asked.
"Delicious food?" Scarlett thought.
"Lisa, come with me. I'll take you to a place with the best food in Libertya," Scarlett said.
"Really? Wait, I'll call Cory to join us."
Scarlett successfully got a membership card for Appearance Restaurant. Holding the golden card in her hand, she glanced at the spot where the jerk sat last night and furrowed her brows.
After tasting the food in Libertya, Lisa and Cory immediately fell in love with it. Unlike the traditional food in Averlake, the food in Libertya was diverse and delicious, addictive after just one bite.
"Scarlett, you shouldn't go back to Emporcia just yet. Let's stay and try all the food here before we leave, okay?" Lisa said.
"Try all the food?" Scarlett thought.
"This restaurant has hundreds of dishes. It will take a month to try them all. That's too much," Scarlett refused outright.
Cory's blue eyes were reluctant. "Ms. Taylor, why don't we find something to do in Libertya, enjoying the food and the scenery? The food here is just too delicious! I'm falling in love with Libertya too."
'Two people from Averlake fell in love with Libertya, but I, a person from Libertya, didn't. Something is off, right?' Scarlett thought.
