Chapter 576 Aqua Vista City, How Many Secrets Are There
Sebastian landed in Aqua Vista City at 12:30 PM.
The project manager for Aqua Vista City personally drove to the airport to greet him.
The manager, around forty-five years old with a noticeable belly, spotted Sebastian's tall figure from a distance and hurried over with a polite and ingratiating smile. "Mr. Kingsley, hello. I've been eagerly awaiting your arrival."
Despite the manager's enthusiastic greeting, Sebastian remained expressionless.
His deep, inscrutable eyes glanced at the sky above Aqua Vista City before subtly assessing the manager. In a low, powerful voice, he asked, "How's the project going?"
The manager, seeing that Sebastian's first question was about the project, continued to smile. "Mr. Brian Kingsley mentioned you would be taking over the project launch. The local government is pressuring us not to build the skyscraper to the originally planned height. So, we need you to communicate with them."
Sebastian let out a faint, almost imperceptible laugh.
He bent slightly and got into the luxurious car, sitting in the back seat with his legs naturally crossed. "Give me the detailed project documents and a list of all the executives and relevant department heads in Aqua Vista City."
"Of course, we'll get right on it."
Sebastian's cold, sharp gaze flicked over to the manager. "Get right on it? I want it done now."
The manager, intimidated by Sebastian's presence, didn't dare to make any excuses. He quickly agreed, "Yes, yes, I'll do it right away."
He picked up his phone and made a call, giving instructions on the other end. After hanging up, he politely asked, "Mr. Sebastian, would you prefer to stay at a hotel or...?"
Before he could finish, Sebastian cut him off, "Hotel."
"Alright, I'll take you to the hotel immediately."
The headquarters had informed them that Sebastian would be handling business here for a long time, so they had prepared a luxury apartment for him and arranged for someone to manage his daily life.
Hearing that he wanted to stay at a hotel made the manager break out in a cold sweat. Why was there a discrepancy between what Brian said and what Sebastian was doing?
Sebastian returned to the hotel, and the manager promptly delivered the relevant documents.
Sebastian wasted no time, quickly flipping through the files and the list of department heads, then circling a few names with his black pen.
Tapping his long, elegant fingers on the circled names, he said in a cold tone, "Arrange meetings with these people."
The manager hesitated, recognizing the names. These were not people who could be easily summoned.
Seeing the manager's hesitation, Sebastian's voice grew colder, "What are you waiting for? Do you want me to do it personally?"
The manager wiped the sweat from his forehead. "No, no, I didn't mean that. But Mr. Sebastian, these are high-ranking government officials. It's not appropriate to just summon them. They might prefer a personal visit."
Sebastian's eyes narrowed as he studied the manager. "If you find it troublesome, you can leave their positions. There are plenty of people who would love the opportunity."
Feeling the pressure from Sebastian, the manager nodded. "I'll handle it. Mr. Sebastian, you just got off the plane. Please rest here, and I'll contact you once I've arranged the meetings."
Sebastian nodded and waved him off.
Standing by the large floor-to-ceiling window, Sebastian looked down at the city, murmuring to himself, "Aqua Vista City..."
There was a faint chill in the air, suggesting that the city might not be as prosperous and peaceful as it seemed.
Although Aqua Vista City wasn't as vast as Aucester, it was a major commercial hub, home to many wealthy individuals. The Jordan family had a significant influence here.
Even though Marc had fallen, his father still held some power, and the family's century-old foundation remained.
Marc's brother and father had connections in both the underworld and the authorities, making the local officials wary of them.
Without the protection of officials and businessmen, how could the Jordan family have remained unscathed for decades?
To get things done in Aqua Vista City, it seemed necessary to contact the Jordan family.
Feeling a bit tired, Sebastian leaned against the glass and took out his phone, typing a message: [Dear, I've arrived safely in Aqua Vista City. Everything is fine here.]
Brooklyn received Sebastian's message while discussing a lawsuit with Peregrine during lunch.
Seeing his name on the screen, she smiled and replied: [Got it, honey.]
Knowing that Sebastian had a heavy workload in Aqua Vista City, Brooklyn didn't mention the situation on her end, not wanting to worry him. She felt confident she could handle it herself.
Putting down her phone, Brooklyn continued, "Peregrine, these lawyers are the best in Aucester. I believe they can provide you with excellent legal support."
Peregrine looked at the list of lawyers and nodded. "These lawyers are top-notch, usually representing large corporations. I..."
Brooklyn interrupted, "Since Sofia's custody was initially awarded to Dione, reclaiming it might be tricky. But if we can prove that Dione abandoned Sofia and neglected her during her illness, Dione won't have much of a case."
She paused before continuing, "As for Sofia, during her recovery, Dione will likely try to get close to her. You must ensure they don't have direct contact. If Dione takes Sofia, it would be very damaging to her psychologically. Sofia's aversion to Dione suggests their relationship wasn't as good as Dione claims."
Peregrine nodded. "When Sofia first came back to me, she was very weak. Dione isn't capable of much. She did... a lot of unsavory things in Averlake, including working in nightclubs..."
He trailed off, unable to continue.
Brooklyn understood. "We need to act first. Before she files a lawsuit, we should serve her with a legal notice."
Peregrine agreed. "I've looked into Miguel Jordan. He's not easy to deal with. He's ruthless and cunning, with significant influence in Aqua Vista City. Even the local government respects him. This lawsuit won't be easy."
Brooklyn took a deep breath. "The so-called fairness of the law can be quite hurtful. Don't worry too much. Sebastian is in Aqua Vista City on business. If we hit a dead end here, he can help us over there."
Peregrine stood up. "Mrs. Kingsley, I don't know how to thank you. From now on, my life is yours. I'll repay you in any way I can."
"There's no need for that. Managing the company is the best way to repay me. And take good care of your daughter. That's the most important thing."
"Yes, I will!"
At the Mitchell Group, Brandon and Bianca held the acquisition plan for the Turner Group.
They exchanged a smile and stepped into the elevator.
Brandon, feeling triumphant, wrapped his arm around Bianca's waist. "Sweetheart, we need to make sure we come back with a win today!"
Bianca's seductive red lips curved into a smile as she ran her fingers along his chin. "If the Turner Group acquisition goes smoothly, come over to my place for drinks tonight."
Brandon's eyes widened, and he swallowed hard. "Really?"
"Not interested? Fine."
"No, I'm very interested!"
The black Mercedes sped away, kicking up leaves as it went. The sycamore leaves were swept up by the strong wind, scattering everywhere.
Quinn nervously held his phone, unsure how to make the call.
How could he explain things to Sebastian? Could he earn Sebastian's trust? After all, Sebastian had just left, and now he was about to enter Sebastian's office.
With a heavy sigh, Quinn felt useless. Faced with Brian's authority, he had no room to maneuver. If only he were more like Sebastian.
Growing more anxious, Quinn bit the bullet and dialed the number.
Hearing the ringtone, Sebastian glanced at the project plans and reached for his phone. Seeing Quinn's name, he answered, "Quinn, what's up?"
Quinn swallowed hard. "Sebastian, you made it to Aqua Vista City, right? Is everything going smoothly?"
Hearing Quinn's hesitant tone, Sebastian moved his fingers away from the plans. "It's fine. What's going on? Just say it."
Encouraged by Sebastian's directness, Quinn took a deep breath. "Sebastian, while you're away, Dad wants me to temporarily take over your position. But don't worry, Sebastian! I'll only be handling your work temporarily. As soon as you return, I'll give the office back to you. No... I won't even use your office. I really don't intend to take your place, Sebastian, trust me."
Sebastian slipped his hand into his pocket, a faint smile playing on his lips. "I'm not blaming you. Why are you so nervous? If Dad wants you to take over my work, then do it well."
"Sebastian, are you mad? I think Dad's being a bit unfair."
"We're both Dad's sons. Does it matter who's in charge? Why would I be mad? You're taking on my tasks and lightening my load. I appreciate it."
Quinn was puzzled. "Sebastian, if you have any thoughts, just say them. I can't read your mind."
"I have no thoughts. Anything else?"
"Um... Donny came to the company today. Dad put him in charge of the marketing department. Sebastian, is something going on?"
Sebastian's fingers curled one by one until his hand formed a silent fist.
