Chapter 103 What will you do if you really mistook the person?

The director looked troubled, sighed, and glanced at Yvette.

"Yvette, I've always valued you, which is why I'm saying this. I'm not trying to force you to stay; it's just hard to see talent leave. Honestly, compared to a hospital, our facility is pretty relaxed, and the benefits aren't bad either. Especially now that you're getting married and planning to have kids, if you work at a hospital, during your pregnancy and breastfeeding period, it would be easy for someone to replace you. But it's different here; no matter how many kids you have, I guarantee your position will always be here. Please reconsider."

Yvette chuckled softly; she used to think that way.

Being closer to Albert and having an easy job was her initial reason for coming here.

But recently, Yvette realized more about herself. She was a greedy woman. Initially, she just wanted to be closer to him, then she wanted him to be with her, and now she wanted him to fall in love with her.

If this continued, she would gain nothing and become someone even she wouldn't recognize.

If you can't grasp something, you should let it go and find your self-value.

Yvette replied, "This palce is great. I didn't think things through at the beginning. I oversimplified a lot of things. Thank you for taking care of me these past few years, but I've made up my mind. I still want to continue working as a surgeon. I hope you can understand."

Yvette's eyes were firm as she expressed her desire.

The director knew he couldn't persuade her to stay, so he sighed slowly.

"The new doctor needs a handover. Stay for a month to assist with the transition."

"Understood, thank you."

The director looked at Yvette a few more times. "If you want to withdraw your resignation within this month, you're always welcome."

"Thank you."

During his break, Albert covered a shift for Victor.

Getting off the plane, Albert felt a slight itch in his throat. Unsure if it was a cold or a bout of pharyngitis, he planned to go home and rest. But once he got into the car, he found himself driving to the Medical Examination Center.

Albert glanced at the center's entrance. Since he was here, he might as well get a "check-up."

Albert walked into the Medical Examination Center and was about to go further inside when someone called out to him.

"Mr. Valdemar."

Albert turned around and nodded in greeting, "Director."

"Here to pick up Yvette?" the director asked.

Albert felt a bit awkward but maintained his composure. "My throat feels a bit uncomfortable. I came to get some medication."

"Let me take a look."

Albert added, "No need." He looked towards the clinic area. "I'll find the on-duty doctor."

"Yvette isn't on duty right now." The director's face showed concern. "You should talk to her. We can't afford to lose her at the center."

"What do you mean?"

"Why does she have to resign? Being a flight doctor is still being a doctor."

Upon hearing this, Albert furrowed his brows. "She's resigning?"

The director was lost in his own thoughts and didn't hear Albert. "She's highly capable and responsible. The leadership values her. They say I can't retain talent. She submitted her resignation before, which I rejected. I thought she'd reconsidered, but now she's resigning again."

The director continued to ramble, but Albert was no longer listening.

Yvette had already submitted her resignation twice?

Albert was in disbelief, speaking slowly. "She's resigning?"

The director was taken aback by Albert's question. "Why do you look like you didn't know? Isn't she your wife? You didn't know she was resigning?"

Albert didn't know how to respond.

Seeing Albert's complex expression, the director understood instantly.

"You young people are so impulsive. Did you have a fight?" The director shook his head. "Don't let a marital spat affect your work! Yvette is a talent in our center. We were planning to develop her further, but now she's leaving because of a fight. It's too rash."

The director kept mumbling, but Albert had already left, leaving only a hurried silhouette.

"Mr. Valdemar!"

Yvette stood by her office desk, gazing at the lingering glow in the western sky, feeling the warmth of the sunset wrapping her.

Since the director approved her resignation, Yvette had been working while preparing wholeheartedly for interviews, feeling both fulfilled and satisfied.

She stretched and returned to her desk to pack her things. With a noisy household and Kyle being particularly loud, Yvette decided to go to the study room to read.

Just as she finished packing, someone suddenly pushed open the office door.

Albert's chest was heaving, clearly from running.

His sudden appearance startled Yvette.

"What are you doing here again?"

Albert's expression was grim, his lips pressed into a thin line as if he was trying hard to contain himself. "Are you going to say I have no right to be here?"

Yvette frowned. "What's wrong with you?"

Albert laughed self-deprecatingly. "You're resigning and never think to tell me?"

Yvette's body stiffened for a moment but quickly returned to normal.

Resigning wasn't a secret; he would find out eventually.

"Yes, I'm resigning."

Albert questioned, "Why?"

Her expression was indifferent, showing no emotion. "North Airlines is stable but doesn't pay well. I plan to go back to being a surgeon."

Albert's eyes were cold and domineering as he looked at her.

He didn't even know why he was so angry.

"Do you need money that badly?" Albert's voice was icy, his gaze intense. Though his face appeared calm, his heart was pounding. "If you need money, you can ask me. I can give you more than the hospital."

Yvette's lips twitched, her eyes filled with defiance and a cold smile.

Albert was truly adept at insulting her with money.

Yvette's expression quickly turned sour, her eyes showing a stubborn resentment. She said self-mockingly, "Mr. Valdemar, how much do you think I'm worth? Can I get tens of thousands of dollars a month?"

"That's not what I meant." Albert realized he came out wrong.

If Yvette left North Airlines, they wouldn't be in the same company, making it even harder for him to see her.

Albert frowned, his tone harsh. "You're pregnant and still want to work at a hospital. Do you not want this child?"

"I know what I'm doing." Yvette slung her bag over her shoulder and gave Albert a cold look. "Albert, stop doing these pointless things. What does my resignation have to do with you? Where I work has nothing to do with you. Do I need to remind you again? We're in the process of getting a divorce."

With that, Yvette turned to leave the office.

As she placed her hand on the doorknob, Albert's gritted voice came from behind.

"Yvette, you're just trying to avoid me, aren't you?"

Yvette answered, "I have no reason to avoid you."

"That girl from that summer, it was you, wasn't it?"

Albert's voice was low and steady, a statement rather than a question.

Yvette's hand on the doorknob turned white from gripping it too hard. She forced herself to suppress the turmoil in her heart and slowly turned around.

"What difference would it make if I were that girl?" Yvette sneered and questioned, "If you got the wrong person, what then? Are you planning to start chasing after me?"
