Chapter 443 You Are Not Worthy to Be Her Husband

When Yvette walked through the front door with BoBo and CiCi, Albert was lounging on the couch, flipping through the newspaper.

Hearing the commotion, he glanced up and saw Yvette holding BoBo and CiCi's hands. The kids' faces were lit up with innocent smiles, as bright and warm as the spring sunshine. Yvette gently patted their heads, her eyes glowing with motherly love.

The scene seemed to blend with the sunlight streaming in, dazzling and radiant.

Albert put down the newspaper and got up to greet them, but Yvette skillfully avoided him.

Albert didn't mind. He knelt down, picked up BoBo and CiCi, and took them to the bathroom to wash their hands.

It was dinnertime. Yvette was already at the table, helping the kids with their food.

By the time Albert brought the freshly washed kids over, Yvette had just placed their plates in front of them.

Yvette said, "Make sure you eat your dinner nicely today!"

CiCi blinked and asked, "Can we have cake today?"

Before Yvette could respond, BoBo frowned and said, "CiCi, why do you always have to bargain every day?"

CiCi pouted, realizing BoBo was genuinely upset. She mumbled, "Okay, I'll eat properly."

Albert chuckled softly, seeing CiCi so obedient to BoBo.

The dishes Beatrice had prepared were just to the kids' liking, and they finished their meals quickly without needing any reminders.

Yvette was quietly eating her meal when she heard Albert's deep voice.

"I haven't been as busy lately. I'll pick up the kids."

Albert's words were like a stone thrown into a calm lake, causing ripples of surprise.

Yvette looked up sharply, her eyes piercing and her tone sharp with obvious displeasure. "Are you trying to control even the task of picking up the kids?"

Her expression was full of vigilance, strongly resisting his words.

She was like a hedgehog ready for battle, all her quills standing on end. Her tone and attitude became more severe and tense, making the atmosphere in the dining room oppressive.

Albert looked at her steadily. He put down his fork and, without much explanation, said, "You can stay home and read. Didn't you want to go back to being a doctor?"

Yvette was taken aback, momentarily doubting her ears. "What?"

Albert continued, "I'll tell you more once things are settled. For now, you can start preparing, read some books, and get back into practice."

Yvette realized that Albert's offer to pick up the kids wasn't about restricting her but about giving her time to study.

Was he really willing to let her return to being a doctor?

Thinking about the gossip she heard at the office today, Yvette felt a bit confused.

Had she misunderstood him?

Yvette took a deep breath. "I'm sorry. I thought you didn't want me to pick up the kids anymore. I misunderstood."

Albert looked at her silently, gave a slight nod, and said nothing more.

The fragile relationship between them was most threatened by their mutual distrust.

He wanted to take his time to mend it.

The golden rays of the setting sun bathed the entire kindergarten, casting a warm glow over the colorful world.

Clifford stood at the kindergarten gate, his eyes scanning the crowd, searching for that familiar figure.

These past few days, recalling the women's words made Clifford uneasy.

But Anais and Stanley had been less busy lately and had time to pick up the kids themselves.

Finally, when Anais had a meeting in the afternoon and Stanley was supposed to pick up the kids, Clifford volunteered to pick up Niamh.

Clifford claimed he missed Niamh, but he knew he was hoping to see her.

The crowd around him was bustling, parents gathering to wait for their children.

Clifford stood among them, looking around, his eyes sliding over each face. But instead of finding Yvette, he saw that cold man again at the kindergarten.

Albert.

Clifford frowned, checked the time on his phone, and saw it was almost time for Niamh's class to be dismissed.

Since Yvette wasn't coming, he didn't need to look any further and headed straight for the line.

Just then, Albert strode over and blocked Clifford's path.

Albert was tall and broad-shouldered, clearly someone who worked out regularly.

His eyes held a sharp challenge, exuding an air of unshakable confidence.

Albert smirked and said to Clifford, "Thanks for the heads-up."

Clifford had intended to leave, but Albert's provocation irked him. He tightened his lips. "So, because of my reminder, you deliberately stopped her from picking up the kids?"

Albert raised an eyebrow. "Picking up the kids is a father's responsibility. Letting her rest at home is me caring for my wife."

Clifford's eyes grew sharper at this response.

Just because of his reminder, Albert had deprived Yvette of picking up the kids, forcing her to stay home and rest. How was that different from imprisonment?

"You don't deserve to be her husband."

"I don't, but you do?" Albert seemed to find this amusing, showing a contemptuous smile. "Sir, mind your boundaries."

At that moment, their eyes locked in a silent battle of wills. Both were determined, neither willing to back down.

Clifford knew that despite his dissatisfaction, he was just an outsider.

After a moment of silence, he asked, "Does she know?"

At that moment, Albert's phone rang. He glanced at it; it was Yvette.

Albert answered the call with a triumphant smile, saying to Clifford, "Such a trivial matter isn't worth bothering my wife with."

Seeing Clifford's expression change, Albert smirked and turned his attention to the call. "Hello? What's up?"

Yvette's voice reminded him, "CiCi wants that new cake today."

Albert chuckled. "I know. I'll take them to get the cake after picking them up and bring some back for you."

The image of a happy family stung Clifford's eyes.

Under his gaze, Yvette asked, "Who were you talking to just now?"

Albert glanced at Clifford, their eyes meeting once more. He casually replied, "No one, just someone asking for directions."
