Chapter 314 Yvette, Let's Break Up

Yvette felt a weird sensation in her lower abdomen, but she figured it was normal after taking that kind of drug.

Other than that, there were no marks on her body.

She quickly checked the empty trash can by the bed. No condoms, not even tissues. The uncertainty made Yvette anxious. She wasn't in her safe period. If she had slept with Albert, she'd need a morning-after pill.

Just then, she heard a rustling from the bathroom and stiffened as the door opened.

Their eyes met.

Albert's tall figure approached, the morning sunlight highlighting his defined cheekbones.

He was only wearing a towel around his waist, his wet hair dripping water, the droplets tracing the defined lines of his chest muscles and slowly sliding into the towel.

Feeling Albert's casual glance, Yvette instinctively looked away, her breath catching for a few seconds.

Albert walked up to Yvette, leaning down close to her. "What? Are you too embarrassed to look?"

He chuckled. "It's not like you haven't seen it before."

The familiar scent of him invaded Yvette's nostrils. His perfect body was so close, exuding an overwhelming sense of pressure.

She glared at him in anger and embarrassment. "Albert, aren't you going to give me an explanation? Why am I here? What did you do to me?"

Albert raised an eyebrow, looking at her with a meaningful expression, his thin lips pressed tightly, a slight curve at the corners.

The more ambiguous his expression, the more Yvette's cheeks burned.

Albert asked, "Yvette, don't tell me you don't remember anything?"

"What should I remember? What exactly happened last night?"

Albert's eyes narrowed slightly, like an abyssal cliff in the deep sea, with a danger that could pull you in if you weren't careful.

His voice was low and rich, slowly entering her ears. "What do you think happened between us? Or rather, what do you wish had happened between us?"

His deliberate hint made her clench her teeth, her body trembling slightly. "Do you know what you're doing? We are not in a relationship where we can have sex! I am David's wife!"

Hearing this, Albert's eyes suddenly turned cold, his smile disappearing instantly, a thin layer of cold mist enveloping him.

"Are you rejecting me for David?" Albert's voice was cold. "Last night when you admitted you were Yvette, when you admitted you wanted me and loved me, you weren't like this."

Yvette was terrified. Had she admitted she was Yvette? Had she said she loved him?

She stared at Albert, too stunned to argue.

Her memory of last night was a blur—she remembered being drugged, feeling uncomfortable, and encountering Albert, but nothing after that.

"Stop talking nonsense!" Yvette denied it with a strong attitude. "Tell me what happened last night, and don't say anything else."

"You want to know?" Albert looked at Yvette's angry expression, still indifferent. "But I don't want to tell you."

"Albert!"

Albert pressed his lips together. "Unless you divorce David, then I'll tell you."

"You." Yvette's face instantly heated up, and she struggled to suppress the emotions surging inside her. "Shameless."

Yvette pushed Albert away and rushed out of the bedroom without another moment's hesitation.Albert watched Yvette's retreating figure, his face growing darker by the second.

He pulled out his phone and called the driver. "Yvette's coming down. Take her back to the Valdemar Family."

The driver replied, "What about your car, sir?"

"I'll find another way," Albert said curtly. "Just get her back to the Valdemar Family."

"Yes, Mr. Valdemar."

This whole mess left Yvette feeling drained.

How did she end up drugged and with Albert of all people?

The fact that David was behind the drugging made her feel like her world was crumbling.

A tear slipped down Yvette's cheek, cooled by the wind.

She felt a chill in her heart, unsure of where to go next.

David was supposed to be the one she trusted most, yet he had done something so vile.

She couldn't wrap her head around why David would drug her.

He had promised to wait until she figured things out, but instead, he used such a low tactic to hurt her.

She needed to go back to the Valdemar Family and confront David about his true intentions.

At the Valdemar Family mansion, Yvette pushed the door open and stepped inside.

David had his back to her. Hearing the door, he immediately turned around.

Yvette met David's panicked eyes, confirming her suspicions.

She felt a wave of disappointment wash over her.

Yvette looked at him with a blank expression, about to speak, but David beat her to it. "Yvette, let's separate."

Yvette was stunned by his words and just stared at him, speechless.

David's voice was rough, with dark circles under his eyes, bloodshot eyes, and obvious fatigue, as if he hadn't slept all night.

"Now that your memory's back, even if I cling to you, you won't stay with me. It's better if I let go and give you your freedom," he said, sounding sincere and pitiful.

Yvette pressed her lips together. "Don't you have anything to explain to me?"

"There's nothing to explain." David's lips twisted into a bitter smile. "What happened yesterday was my fault. When I go back to Stellaria, I'll restore your identity, and our marriage will be over. You can go after the happiness you want."

"David." Tears welled up in Yvette's eyes. "Why did you do this?"

David lowered his eyes, his eyelashes trembling slightly. After a long pause, he said in a hoarse voice, "I'm sorry, but I can't wait any longer. I promised to wait until you figured things out, but it's been over a decade. You've never loved me, not even a little. When you lost your memory, you resisted me, but seeing Albert a few times brought everything back. There's no point in waiting anymore. No matter how long I wait or how good I am to you, you always run back to him. Despite all the hurt and neglect, you only love him, don't you?"

David's words were like daggers to Yvette's heart. He had completely nailed her complicated feelings for Albert.

She was momentarily speechless.

David looked up, his eyes locked on Yvette, emotions swirling in his gaze, as if he was in pain but not fighting it. "I made a mistake and no longer have the right to protect you. I'll let go, give you back your identity as Yvette, and give you back the title of Albert's wife. But promise me, you must be happy, make my letting go worth it."
