Chapter 284 What's Your Mother's Name?
Albert's breath hitched, eyes glued to the photo, not even daring to blink.
When he finally looked up, his eyes were a bit red. "Find her."
eeing Albert's intense reaction, Victor grew nervous and spoke hastily, "This might not be Yvette. I called her name a bunch of times, and she didn't even flinch. If it is her, she probably doesn't want to be recognized."
Albert didn't care. He'd messed up too many times, so it made sense Yvette wouldn't want to be found by his friends. But he couldn't let any chance slip by.
Albert pulled himself together, his eyes now full of determination. "Check the passenger list from that flight. See if there's any info on Yvette."
"Got it."
Vincent went to make a call, and Albert couldn't focus on work anymore. He shut down his computer, crossed his hands, and tapped his fingers on the back of his hand, over and over.
Vincent came back soon, walked up to Albert, and just shook his head.
Albert felt like his heart was being squeezed, the pain was intense.
There was no "Yvette" on that flight.
Albert stood up without a second thought.
Victor was confused. "Albert, where are you going?"
"To find her." Albert's voice was low and firm. "Maybe she's still at the airport."
Yvette got off the plane, holding Lester and Christina's hands.
David's call came at the perfect time, and she quickly answered, "We landed safely, don't worry."
David's voice was calm, like he had already come to terms with them leaving Las Vegas.
"Okay, you and the kids stay safe. If you don't want to stay at the company hotel, you can stay at my place in Luken. It's all set up for you."
"No need," Yvette said quickly, "The company hotel is more convenient."
David replied, "I've arranged a car for you. The driver is waiting in the airport parking lot."
"A car?" Yvette was a bit flustered. "But I don't have a local driver's license. Can I drive it?"
David paused, then said, "Sorry, I forgot. The driver will stay with you if you need..."
Before he could finish, the airport announcement blared.
"Good afternoon, passengers. There's a patient who has fainted at the service desk. If there are any medical personnel in the airport, please proceed to the service desk for assistance."
Yvette froze, almost instinctively hanging up the phone.
She crouched down and told Lester, "BoBo, someone needs help. Mommy's trained for this, and I have a CPR/AED certificate. Stay here with CiCi."
Lester nodded. "I got it, Mommy. I'll take care of CiCi. You go help."
Yvette patted their heads, left the suitcase and backpack, and rushed to the service desk.
Seeing Yvette leave, Christina looked up at Lester, curious. "Who needs help?"
"I heard the announcement. Someone fainted," Lester explained. "Fainted means they passed out and need help. Got it?"
"Okay." Christina nodded, then asked, "But is Mommy a doctor? Can she help today?"
Lester hesitated. "Maybe Mommy's just going to assist. More people, more help."
They stood there, keeping an eye on Yvette's luggage. When adults tried to chat with them, they stayed quiet.
After a while, Christina pouted. "Why isn't Mommy back yet?"
Lester sighed and hugged her. "Helping someone isn't always quick. Mommy said to wait here, so we can't move around."
"But last time, Mommy said she'd pick us up, and Aunt Candy came instead." Christina's eyes started to water. "Aunt Candy didn't come back to Luken with us. What if no one picks us up?"
Lester held her hand. "We have to watch Mommy's luggage. We have to trust her. Even if she can't come, she'll send someone. She won't leave us."
Christina blinked, feeling a bit better. "Really?"
"Yes!"
Luken's airport was huge, crowded, and chaotic, making it tough to find anyone.
But Albert didn't care. His eyes scanned every corner, searching for Yvette.
Hearing the announcement, Victor frowned. "What's going on? The airport's medical team can't handle it? They're asking passengers for help? Albert, as the heir of the Valdemar Group, shouldn't you do something about this?"
Albert shot him a cold look. "Find her."
Victor immediately shut up.
Vincent suggested, "Mr. Valdemar, it's inefficient for the three of us to search together. We should split up and contact each other if we find anything."
Albert nodded. "Okay."
As they split up to search, Albert noticed a commotion and a growing crowd, despite his usual aversion to such gatherings, he kept glancing back.
In his hesitation, he heard a child crying from the crowd.
Albert didn't want to get involved, but he overheard a nearby conversation.
"These kids have it rough. How could their folks be so careless to ditch them at the airport?"
"Maybe on purpose?"
"No way. These kids are so well taken care of. They probably just got lost."
Albert thought for a moment and decided to check it out.
He needed to take these kids to the lounge and let the staff help find their parents.
But as he walked into the crowd, Albert had never been so grateful for his "meddling."
He looked down and saw the two children he had seen in Las Vegas.
Christina was crying, and Lester looked flustered.
His throat tightened, and he slowly squatted down.
Albert's voice was hoarse. "Do you remember me?"
Christina immediately stopped crying. "Sir?"
Lester was also stunned. "Sir?"
"What are your names?" Albert raised his hand, wanting to touch the kids, but then pulled back. "What's your mom's name?"
