Chapter 96 You Have Amnesia, You've Mistaken the Person

Albert blurted out a name that made Victor freak out instantly.

"YO" stood for "Yvette Orlando"!

Thinking about the tangled mess between the three of them, Victor felt even more stressed.

Victor couldn't hide his panic. His eyes and brows gave him away. He glanced at Albert, took a moment, and then asked, "Yvette was your high school classmate? You knew each other before?"

Albert gave Victor a puzzled look, confused by his weird questions today.

But Victor's question wasn't that odd. It didn't seem like a big deal.

Albert replied indifferently, "We didn't know each other."

"Are you sure?" Victor didn't notice Albert's odd expression and pressed on, "Yvette is pretty good-looking. Didn't you notice her in high school?"

Hearing "pretty good-looking," Albert's brows furrowed slightly. Thinking back, Victor had a crush on Yvette then, his eyes reflected displeasure.

"What are you trying to say?"

Albert's guarded expression and sharp eyes made Victor shrink back instinctively. He hadn't expected Albert to get so angry just from a few questions.

Victor knew that the relationship between Albert and Yvette had been tense recently, and he probably didn't want to talk about her.

"I don't mean anything, just asking." Victor leaned in, "So how did you end up with Violet back then?"

Albert, already impatient, looked even more displeased at Victor's words.

"There's no need to bring up the past."

"I'm just curious. Since I met the two of you, you've been together, but I never knew why you were with her."

As Victor spoke, he carefully observed Albert's expression. But Albert's eyes flashed with emotion before returning to his usual impassive look.

"I had an agreement with her, but I broke it later." Albert pressed his lips together, "Since we met again, I should treat her better to make up for it."

"Agreement?" Victor keenly picked up on the clue, "But didn't you lose your memory? How can you be sure Violet is the one you had an agreement with?"

"Because there's a token."

After speaking, Albert looked at Victor with a cold gaze. His behavior today was already prying into his privacy.

"What is going on with you today?"

Albert's deep voice carried a warning, and Victor knew that if he continued, Albert would likely get angry, so he didn't dare to press further.

He looked at Albert with a complicated expression and sighed lightly.

"Nothing, I'm just curious."

The setting sun was inching down from the edge of the sky, enveloping the entire city in an ambiguous, blood-tinged hue.

Victor intended to drive home but couldn't stop thinking about that necklace.

Whose necklace was it? This question deeply troubled Victor.

What if the person who had an agreement with Albert wasn't Violet, but Yvette?

He didn't dare to think further.

After some thought, Victor finally dialed Violet's number.

Violet's cheerful voice echoed in the car, "Victor, what's up?"

"Violet, are you free today? Can we meet tonight?"

"Meet?" Violet sounded a bit surprised. "I can't, I have something to do later. Do we have to meet to talk?"

Victor pressed his lips together, feeling uneasy. "It's nothing really, just wanted to chat. Are you really busy tonight?"

"Yes, you are my friend, why would I make up an excuse not to see you?" Violet laughed. "Alright, I have another call coming in. If there's nothing urgent, I'll hang up now."

With that, Violet didn't give Victor a chance to respond and hung up the phone.

It was rush hour, and the roads were packed with cars.

Victor was on a main road, stuck in a traffic jam. Looking at the long line of lights ahead, he slowly exhaled.

If this matter isn't resolved, he might have nightmares tonight.

For the first time in his life, Victor hated his own nosiness.

Violet retrieved the necklace from the jewelry store and walked into the elevator to her apartment. She reached for her neck, gently rubbing the pendant, finally feeling a bit of security.

The elevator reached her floor, and Violet carefully tucked the necklace back into her clothes before stepping out.

As she exited, she was startled to see a tall man standing at her door. Focusing her eyes, she realized it was Victor.

"Victor! What are you doing here?!" Violet was surprised; she usually only stayed at this apartment when she had flights, spending most of her time at home.

"I've been feeling a bit down lately and wanted to talk to you to ease my depression," Victor pointed towards her apartment, "Can I come in? You don't have a guy hidden in there, do you?"

Violet laughed and gave Victor a playful glare, "What are you talking about? Do I look like someone who hides guys at home? It's just a bit messy since I haven't been here much lately. If you don't mind, come on in."

Violet opened the door, handed Victor a pair of slippers, and led him inside.

"Sit on the couch for a bit, I'll make you some coffee," Violet said, taking a few steps before pausing and looking back at Victor with a raised eyebrow, "Or do you need alcohol for your depression?"

"No, coffee is fine."

By the time Violet brought the coffee over, it was already completely dark outside.

Victor made some small talk with her, knowing it wasn't appropriate to stay too late at a single woman's home.

"You shouldn't drink alcohol, it's bad for your health." Victor expressed his concern while not forgetting his purpose, "By the way, did you get your necklace fixed?"

When Victor mentioned the necklace, a trace of unease flashed across Violet's face, but she quickly composed herself.

She nodded and smiled, "Sorry for losing control and scaring you all last time. The necklace is fixed now, thanks for recommending the handicraft."

"I was just passing along a friend's recommendation, never been there myself. Glad you liked it. That necklace is really beautiful; it would be a shame if it were broken."

Victor paused, looking seriously into Violet's eyes, "Was that necklace a gift from Albert?"
