Chapter 501 The Swift Group: Original Producer of the Antidote

Yvette's sudden hemorrhaging sent the Hayes family into chaos.

Gabrielle's body trembled as tears began to well up, but Felix's sharp voice cut through her grief. "Can you spare me your tears for once? All you ever do is cry—it's driving me insane! Will your sobbing cure Clifford?" In just these past two weeks, Felix's hair had turned silver, his breathing labored. "Where's the doctor? Are Yvette's test results ready?"

The doctor approached nervously, clutching the lab report before handing it to Felix with obvious reluctance.

"What's the verdict?" Felix demanded.

The doctor hesitated. "I'm afraid the news isn't encouraging."

Felix and Gabrielle studied the report together, their faces etched with mounting dread. Gabrielle's brow furrowed deeply, her lips quivering as she fought to contain her terror. Each abnormal reading on the page painted a grimmer picture of Yvette's deteriorating condition, and Gabrielle's complexion grew ashen while her hands shook uncontrollably as she gripped the document.

Felix felt his heart sink like a stone. The report might as well have been a death sentence, filling them both with crushing despair. They had pinned their hopes on the medication providing gradual improvement, but reality proved far more brutal. While some drugs had accidentally suppressed certain symptoms, they offered no real cure—merely temporary comfort that couldn't halt the relentless progression of the disease.

Felix's fingers traced the cold, clinical numbers with growing helplessness, his eyes reflecting profound anguish. The lab results loomed before them like an insurmountable mountain, leaving them utterly powerless. He had believed that sheer determination could change everything, that somewhere existed a cure for Clifford. Now he understood the bitter truth—some battles simply couldn't be won.

Gabrielle's tears flowed freely as she collapsed against Felix, releasing all her pent-up fear and desperation. The man who had just been berating her moments before finally softened, understanding how deeply she cherished their son and how his suffering tore at her heart.

Felix gently stroked his wife's back, offering what comfort he could. Though his own heart was breaking, he knew they had to find strength—for Clifford's sake, for his very survival.

"Felix, what are we going to do?" Gabrielle's voice cracked with anguish. "The experimental treatment failed—what happens to Clifford now? Please, you have to find another way to save him..."

"He's my son too—do you think I'm not trying everything?" Felix exhaled heavily, looking years older in that moment. "I've already sent people to investigate this heavy metal compound. If it exists, someone must be researching it. There might still be hope."

Before Felix could finish, his assistant burst through the door without ceremony.

"Mr. Felix Hayes, we've found them!"

Felix's eyes blazed with sudden hope. "What did you discover?"

"We've located the original research team that studied this metal compound!" The assistant quickly briefed Felix on their findings. "For Mr. Clifford Hayes's condition, our best bet lies with the team that developed the antidote."

"There's actually a team working on antidotes?" Felix asked, barely containing his excitement.

"Absolutely," the assistant confirmed. "Back then, researchers and factory workers faced occupational exposure to these toxins, so specialized personnel were assigned to develop countermeasures."

Gabrielle rushed to the assistant, her voice trembling with hope. "Have you contacted these researchers? Can you get me their information? I'll beg them personally if I have to!"

The assistant looked uncomfortable. "The original team members are still alive, but all the formulas and research data remain under the control of the lead organization—the Swift Group, which spearheaded the pharmaceutical research back then."

"The Swift Group?" Felix's voice hardened with determination. "Then I'll go to them directly."

When the Hayes family arrived at the Swift residence, the Swifts were already consumed with anxiety over Violet's predicament. Seeing Clifford's parents at their door caught Thaddeus and Elowen off guard—how had they tracked them down? After a moment's hesitation, they reluctantly invited them inside.

The Hayes family's recent connection to the Valdemar Family through Yvette hadn't escaped notice. Anything involving Albert demanded Thaddeus and Elowen's full attention.

Felix and Gabrielle sat rigidly in the Swift family's living room, tension thick in the air. After awkward pleasantries, an uncomfortable silence stretched between the four adults.

Finally, Gabrielle could no longer contain herself. "Mr. and Mrs. Swift, we've come about your previous research into heavy metal antidotes. We're prepared to purchase the formula at any price—name your terms!"

Thaddeus and Elowen exchanged bewildered glances, their faces mirroring identical confusion and shock.

Seeing their evasive hesitation, Felix grew desperate. "Whatever you want in return, we'll provide it—just sell us that formula!"

The Swifts excused themselves to retrieve the supposed formula, retreating to the study where they stared at each other in stunned silence.

"What formula? What heavy metals? What are they talking about?" Elowen whispered.

"I have no idea. Unless..." Thaddeus paused thoughtfully. "Could they mean that heavy metal exposure project my father briefly researched?"

Elowen's eyes widened. "But that project was shut down almost immediately, wasn't it? And Hayden handled all of it—we don't understand any of this."

"Exactly." Thaddeus frowned. "We can't help them."

As Thaddeus moved toward the door to deliver the disappointing news to Felix and Gabrielle, Elowen grabbed his arm.

"Wait! You can't just refuse them! With Violet still in hiding, we need to find a solution!"

"What solution? We're talking about Albert from the Valdemar Group!" Thaddeus's frustration boiled over. "If she was bold enough to create this mess, why didn't she consider the consequences?"

"How can you be so dense?" Elowen hissed under her breath. "Don't you see? After that incident, Albert went crazy searching for Yvette and eventually tracked her to the Hayes family—which means they're harboring her! If we can leverage this formula to pressure the Hayes family, and they can influence the Valdemars, we might be able to save Violet!"

Elowen's voice grew thick with emotion, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I have to save Violet! We'll deceive them for now—claim we have the formula and demand they convince Albert to call off his vendetta against Violet!"
