Chapter 358 Forget Everything, Let's Start Over
Albert's intention to drive people away was obvious, giving Cheryl no respect.
Cheryl looked at Albert with a stern face. "This is my place, are you trying to drive me away?"
"This is the Valdemar Family's place," Albert said indifferently, tugging at the corner of his lips. "I'm just asking you to go home."
Knowing how stubborn Albert could be, Cheryl didn't dare confront him directly. Trembling with anger, she shot Yvette a meaningful look before turning and leaving with her people.
The room fell silent as Albert turned to look at Yvette, who stood dazed, hugging her arms with lifeless eyes. Her recent words echoed in his mind, filling him with guilt.
He had wronged her, aware of her feelings yet repeatedly mistrusting her due to misunderstandings. Not cherishing her was his greatest regret.
So from this moment on, every second, he would hold onto her tightly and never let her suffer again.
With this thought, Albert strode to Yvette, grabbed her slender wrist, and pulled her into his arms. Holding her tightly, he felt both his heartbeat and her slightly rapid breathing, finally grounding himself in reality.
Yvette had really come back to him.
Albert cupped the back of Yvette's neck, wishing he could merge her into his own flesh and blood.
"Everything in the past was my fault." Albert's lips lightly kissed Yvette's earlobe, his voice low and trembling slightly. "Forget everything, let's start over."
Yvette's body stiffened slightly, and after a moment, she raised her hand to hug his firm waist but did not respond to his words.
Violet never thought in her life that she would have the chance to meet Albert alone again.
Four years ago, the Swift Family was nearly bankrupted by the Valdemar Group. Violet, blamed by her parents, was forced to find a way to save them. Despite knowing Albert wouldn't want to help her, she repeatedly sought him out in Yvette's absence, hoping he would assist for the sake of their past.
But Albert was solely focused on searching for Yvette, completely ignoring her.
But today, it was Albert who initiated the meeting.
Violet sat in front of Albert, having specifically worn that set of emerald jewelry before leaving home, but in front of him, she still felt insecure.
Violet slightly raised her head, hiding her nervousness and unease, and asked calmly, "Mr. Valdemar, didn't we already make things clear between us?"
Albert's face was expressionless. "Yes."
Albert's directness made Violet's heart race a little. "Then why did you want to see me today?"
"If you hadn't disturbed Yvette, I wouldn't want to see you either." Albert's eyes darkened, his aura cold. "What did you say to her at the hotel in Skyview City that day?"
When she received Albert's invitation to meet, Violet had considered countless possibilities, naturally guessing that he was looking for her because of Yvette.
But hearing him question her about what happened that day still made Violet feel a bit embarrassed.
She sneered. "Why don't you just ask your wife directly what we talked about? Wouldn't that be more convenient?"
Albert knew she was deliberately changing the subject and didn't want to say more to her. "If you don't tell me, I have other ways to find out the details of your conversation. It's just a matter of time."
The threat in Albert's words made Violet instinctively want to comply, but after realizing it, her emotions surged.
In front of Albert, she was always in a lower position. She clearly had a man with a higher status than Albert now and should have the ability to resist him.
Violet tried hard to control her emotions, her face pale, her fingertips digging into her palms.
She looked at Albert coldly, her words carrying a hint of probing. "I just talked to her about the kidnapping back then, seeing if she still remembers our 'comradeship.' Albert, you haven't won her over yet, have you?"
Albert frowned slightly. "Violet, watch your mouth."
Albert's reaction made Violet curl her lips. It seemed there was still an insurmountable gap between him and Yvette, not the happy couple she imagined.
Not even as good as her and Rodolfo. At least she was genuinely pregnant with Rodolfo's son, the only heir to the Morgan Family.
"Every word I say is being watched now, of course, I'll be careful," Violet said, stroking her swollen belly. "Albert, don't let your issues affect me. It's not my words that affect your relationship; it's her lack of love for you. I have my own feelings and life now and don't want to get involved in your matters..."
Before Violet could finish, Albert interrupted impatiently.
"You approached her and said things that upset her. That doesn't seem like staying uninvolved," Albert said coldly, his eyes warning as he looked at Violet. "I don't want to come to you, but I don't want to hear about you harassing Yvette again."
Violet was stunned, realizing Albert had already uncovered most of the details and was here to warn her. Her excuses seemed laughable to him. She wanted to explain but knew it was futile.
Taking a deep breath, Violet said, "So what if I said something? What can you do to me?"
Albert looked her up and down, knowing she was using the "unborn heir of the Morgan Group" to tell him that her status had risen because of the child, backed by the entire Morgan Group, and he couldn't do anything to her.
Sneering with extreme disdain, Albert deeply hurt Violet. She could handle any criticism, but disdain from the man she had loved for years felt like a sharp ice blade stabbing her heart.
Her already pale face grew even paler. Violet closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, her emotions were hidden.
Albert's voice was cold as he slowly warned Violet, "Don't think that just because you've latched onto Mr. Morgan, I can't do anything to you. If you dare harass Yvette again, I won't show any mercy."
"Do you love Yvette that much now?" She knew she shouldn't ask, but she did anyway, "Then what am I to you?"
Albert looked at her coldly. "A disgusting liar."
