Chapter 331 Maybe She's Already Pregnant

"Yvette," David's voice was shaky. "I'm sorry, the pressure got to me, I lost it, I didn't mean what I said."

Yvette looked confused. "You were clear as day, you blamed me for the accident, you've never accepted any of this!"

"I swear, I didn't mean it," David sounded exhausted. "The thought of being paralyzed for life, the low odds of the surgery working, it's all too much. I'm not the same person I used to be. I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you."

Yvette's eyes welled up with sadness and helplessness. She took a moment before speaking, "Since you're going through with the surgery, just focus on getting ready for it."

Her voice was a bit raspy. After a pause, Yvette licked her dry lips. "The surgery will go fine, stay strong."

"Okay," David's voice finally relaxed a bit. "Once I'm better, I'll come back for you all."

Yvette's throat tightened. "Take care, goodbye."

For the first time, Yvette didn't say okay.

Outside the Valdemar Mansion, Albert stepped out of the car, looking serious, phone in hand.

"What's the situation over there?" Albert asked, his voice low.

Vincent replied, "Several professors and experts are consulting, but the success of the surgery is all up to Mr. David Valdemar's luck."

Albert frowned. "Keep searching, how's the contact with the expert from Veridian?"

Vincent said, "We've found him, but he's really busy..."

"Money's not an issue," Albert said firmly. "Do whatever it takes to get him."

"Understood," Vincent hesitated. "But that expert is pretty blunt. If Mr. David Valdemar finds out you were the one who got him..."

"Let him find out," Albert sneered. "If he knows I found the expert, would he refuse treatment? If he wants to stand up and have a shot at competing with me for Yvette again, he won't mess around with his own health."

"Got it," Vincent replied.

Albert hung up and walked into the Valdemar Mansion, running into Cheryl.

"Grandma," Albert greeted, about to head upstairs.

"Stop," Cheryl said sternly.

Albert turned, a bit surprised.

Cheryl approached, her face angry. "You dare to cause trouble at the hospital. If I hadn't intercepted the elevator footage, do you know what the Valdemar Group would be facing?"

A flicker of surprise crossed Albert's face, realizing someone had sold out his conversation with Yvette in the hospital elevator to Cheryl.

Albert's expression remained calm. "What's wrong with talking to my wife?"

Cheryl was furious, pointing at Albert. "David went to Stellaria for treatment, not to give you a chance to mess around. Albert, don't take advantage of the situation!"

Albert's eyes darkened. "Who's really taking advantage? David used dirty tricks to take Yvette away, he started this."

Cheryl said, "But she's David's wife now!"

"Absolutely not," Albert said coldly. "This is Novaria, there's no Jessica, only my wife, Yvette. I have plenty of ways to prove it."

Cheryl accused, "You couldn't keep her yourself, and now you say David used dirty tricks? If Yvette was happy back then, who would want to leave home and become Jessica?""That's why I want to make things right now, to let her feel the happiness of being Yvette," Albert stood his ground. "No matter what, Yvette is my wife. I don't owe David anything, and you can't guilt-trip me."

Cheryl sighed, "David is about to lose the ability to walk, how can you at this critical moment..."

"And what about me, Grandma?" Albert's face tightened. "Do you want me to lose my life?"

Cheryl tried to reason, "Albert..."

"No more," Albert's lips pressed into a thin line. "After Yvette came back to Novaria, we were together again. She might already be pregnant with my child. Since everything's back to square one, everyone should respect fate."

With that, Albert turned and headed upstairs, not sparing Cheryl another glance.

Cheryl watched his determined back, her body trembling.

The Valdemar Family seemed cursed, why did these things keep happening?

Yvette was so set on being with David, why did she get involved with Albert again?

Unable to bear it any longer, Cheryl walked out.

She had to find Yvette and get some answers!

BoBo and CiCi woke up from their nap, still groggy, but when they saw Yvette, they excitedly jumped out of bed.

"Mommy!" BoBo and CiCi hugged Yvette at the same time. "You're here, Mommy!"

"Did you miss Mommy?" Yvette's eyes were slightly red as she kissed them, feeling guilty. "Sorry, Mommy hasn't had much time to be with you lately."

"It's okay," BoBo hugged Yvette. "The nanny said Daddy is sick, Mommy has to take care of him."

"Mommy, when will Daddy get better?" CiCi asked sadly.

Seeing how much the kids liked David, Yvette felt a pang of helplessness. She had been too weak, which made her so passive.

Yvette said, "Let's pray together, hoping he gets better soon."

"Okay!" BoBo nodded. "The nanny also said Daddy went back to Stellaria first."

CiCi pouted. "Why didn't he take us with him?"

Yvette explained, "He went back for surgery."

BoBo and CiCi looked up at her. "Then when will we go back?"

Yvette hesitated. "Mommy needs to think about it first."

Just then, the phone on the bedside table rang. BoBo quickly handed it to Yvette. "Mommy, the phone is ringing!"

"Thank you, BoBo." Yvette answered, "Hello, who's this?"

"It's Virgil," a low voice came from the other end. "I need to talk to you about you and David. If you want to know, come to the address I sent. I can only wait for half an hour."

Before Yvette could respond, the call ended.

Yvette was stunned. Virgil, David's Virgil.

Wasn't he back in Stellaria?

Virgil's unusual tone made Yvette uneasy.

She quickly got up to change and told the kids, "BoBo, CiCi, Mommy has to go out now. You two stay home and be good."

"Okay," the kids agreed, though they were a bit unhappy.

Yvette hadn't been around much lately, and they were almost used to it.

She changed and left, feeling uneasy the whole way.

Virgil, who should be in Stellaria, suddenly showing up in Luken and wanting to see her...
