Chapter 433 The Storeroom Has Been Emptied
Yvette's surprise lasted less than half a minute before she heard Beatrice's voice behind her.
Beatrice jogged to catch up with Yvette. "Mrs. Valdemar, where are you headed?"
Yvette's expression shifted a little as she tried to mask her panic and unease. "Just taking a walk around the estate."
Beatrice eyed Yvette suspiciously. "Want me to join you?"
"No need." Yvette stared at Beatrice. "Did Albert ask you to follow me?"
Beatrice hesitated. "Not exactly follow, just to make sure you have everything you need."
Yvette's lips curled into a bitter smile.
She had overthought things. Even if Albert were willing to let her leave the room, he certainly wouldn't let her out of his control. The increased number of bodyguards and Beatrice sticking close to her ensured that everything she did was under his watchful eye.
"Fine, you can tag along."
"Mrs. Valdemar, go wherever you want. I'm just here to keep you company, I won't bother you."
Yvette lowered her gaze and didn't respond.
She had been confined to her room for several days. Now that she was out, she might as well take a walk around the estate.
The sky was a clear blue, and the sun was shining brightly, with no sign of the terrible typhoon that had passed a few days ago. Golden sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the forest path. Walking through it felt like stepping into a beautiful painting.
Yvette took a deep breath, savoring the long-missed fresh air.
After walking for a while, Beatrice's face looked a bit uneasy. "Mrs. Valdemar, how long do you plan to stay outside?"
Yvette frowned. "Is he still restricting my time outside?"
"No, no!" Beatrice waved her hands, quickly explaining. "Mr. Valdemar asked me to pack your luggage."
Yvette was taken aback. "Luggage? Are we leaving today?"
Beatrice nodded. "Seems so. Mr. Valdemar mentioned there's a big meeting today. Once the Valdemar Group's executives finalize things, we can head back."
Beatrice spoke with a hint of excitement, not noticing Yvette's expression.
"Got it." Yvette said calmly. "I'll walk a bit more and then head back. It won't affect your packing."
"Alright, alright!"
Just then, Yvette's phone rang. It was Sylvia calling.
Yvette answered. "Sylvia."
"Yvette, how's it going? Have you contacted David? I got the address and password, and I'm heading to the villa now!"
"Sorry." Yvette felt helpless but couldn't speak openly with Beatrice watching. "I can't contact him right now."
"What? Is Albert still not letting you out?"
Yvette thought for a moment and then said to Beatrice, "Beatrice, I'll sit on this bench for a while. Can you get me some water?"
"Sure, sure." Beatrice agreed, but her eyes darted around.
Only when she saw the bodyguards in the distance did she feel reassured and jogged back to the house to get water for Yvette.
Taking advantage of Beatrice's absence, Yvette quickly told Sylvia, "Sylvia, Albert has people watching me. I can't contact David."
"What should we do?"
"Don't worry!" Yvette kept an eye on Beatrice's direction and lowered her voice. "I heard Beatrice say that all the Valdemar Group executives will be at the meeting today. David should be there too."
"That's great!" Sylvia paused, then worriedly asked, "But if you don't contact David, will the housekeeper let me in?"
Yvette bit her lip. "Give it a shot, Sylvia. Tell them you're Jessica's good friend and you're there to pick up something for her. Then call me, and I'll talk to them."
"Won't they report to David?"
"We'll take a chance." Yvette wasn't sure if it would work, but her eyes were determined. "Bet that David is in the meeting and can't take calls."
"But..." Sylvia hesitated. "If we're discovered, won't it alert them?"
"They're already on alert. David must know my intentions from my last visit to the villa." Yvette was anxious. "Once Albert takes me back to Luken today, I'll never have another chance to find evidence in the villa..."
Yvette's voice was filled with despair, and the sound of static accompanied her words into Sylvia's ear.
"Okay, don't worry. I'll try!"
Yvette's voice choked slightly. "Thank you, Sylvia."
Not long after hanging up, Sylvia arrived at her destination.
Tall trees lined both sides of the villa, creating a picturesque scene. Sylvia walked along the path to the villa, feeling a mix of romance and solemnity.
She was nervous, wiping the sweat from her palms on her clothes, and rang the doorbell at the gate.
Soon, a middle-aged local man appeared. "Who is it?"
"Hello!" Sylvia waved at the man with a smile. "I'm Jessica's friend."
The housekeeper was surprised. "Mrs. Valdemar's friend? Are you here to see her? I'm sorry, but she..."
"I'm here to pick up something for her." Sylvia showed the housekeeper a photo of her and Yvette on her phone. "See, this is us together. If you need, I can call her to confirm."
"You're here to pick up something?" The housekeeper thought for a moment. "Oh, I see. Please come in."
The housekeeper's easy acceptance surprised Sylvia.
After following the housekeeper into the house, she noticed that the place was filled with children's items. Toys were drying in the yard, and books and art supplies were scattered in the living room.
Sylvia felt a pang of emotion, finding it hard to believe that Yvette had lived here with David and their two children for so long.
The housekeeper led Sylvia upstairs, explaining as they went. "Mrs. Valdemar's things are all in the master bedroom. I've packed them together, so you can find what you need."
Sylvia asked, "Packed together?"
"Yes, Mr. Valdemar asked me a few days ago to pack Mrs. Valdemar and the children's things into two sets to be sent back to Luken." The housekeeper casually asked, "Is Mr. Valdemar planning to settle in Luken with Mrs. Valdemar and the children?"
The housekeeper's voice carried a hint of sadness. "If so, I'll be the only one left to look after the Eldoria villa."
Entering the master bedroom, Sylvia saw several large boxes on the floor. She checked them and found photo albums and valuable items, but no birth documents for the children.
Sylvia smiled. "I'll check the storage room. You can go about your business."
"The storage room?" The housekeeper was puzzled. "It's been cleared out. There's nothing left in there."
Sylvia was stunned.
