Chapter 464 She Is Pregnant

Upon returning home, Albert stopped by his study to collect some documents for his upcoming meeting.

As he emerged from the study, he noticed two housekeepers preparing to take BoBo and CiCi out. He glanced around but didn't see Yvette anywhere.

"Where's Yvette?" Albert asked.

Beatrice, who was placing the children's thermoses into their backpacks, turned and replied, "She went out."

BoBo looked up at Albert. "If you need Mommy, you can call her."

Albert opened his mouth, about to ask if the children knew where Yvette had gone, but CiCi grew impatient.

"Daddy, you can find Mommy yourself! We're going out to play!" she exclaimed, her little face flushed with excitement.

Seeing CiCi's enthusiasm, Albert smiled gently and patted their heads. "Off you go, then. Be careful."

"We will!"

Watching as the children shouldered their small backpacks and left with the housekeepers, Albert called Yvette.

She answered promptly. "Hello?"

"Where are you?" Albert asked.

"I'm—" Yvette began, but was interrupted by an announcement over a PA system: "Patient C1808, please proceed to Room 18."

Albert's brow furrowed. "You're at the hospital?"

Yvette hesitated before responding weakly, "Yes."

"Are you feeling unwell?" Albert grabbed his coat and documents, heading for the door.

"Just some stomach issues," she said.

Albert strode toward his car. "Why didn't you call our family doctor?"

On such a cold day, he worried whether Yvette had dressed warmly enough for a hospital visit.

"I'm not really comfortable with that," Yvette murmured. "The hospital isn't far, and I needed some fresh air anyway."

"Which hospital?"

"Don't worry about me," Yvette said, apparently sensing his intention to come over. "I'm about to head home."

"Alright."

After hanging up, Yvette stared at her test results. The doubled HCG levels clearly indicated she was pregnant.

Her eyes flickered as she recalled the doctor's question: "Do you plan to keep the baby?"

Yvette had been too shocked to answer. She'd simply grabbed the results, mumbled "I need to think about it," and fled the examination room.

Only she understood how wrong the timing of this pregnancy was. Even if nothing truly happened between Albert and Violet at the hotel, the wounds in her heart remained raw and unhealed.

She'd spent years building walls around her heart, and now, a baby. What would Albert say if he ever learned the truth?

Yvette felt dizzy, her thoughts in complete disarray. Taking a deep breath, she decided to clear her mind and leave.

Meanwhile, Violet entered the obstetrics department, clutching a thick medical file. She had sought out a renowned professor who had helped many women regain their ability to become mothers.

Violet handed over her medical records. "Could you please review these? Is there any hope for me?"

The professor examined the reports carefully. "You had severe hemorrhaging, yet they managed to save your uterus?"

Violet's composed facade cracked slightly. She nodded. "Yes. My parents begged the doctors. Before I lost consciousness, I heard them say they would have to remove it. Somehow, they preserved it."

"Saving your life was remarkable enough, let alone your uterus," the professor said admiringly. "You're quite fortunate."

"Indeed," Violet replied with a bitter smile. "But every hospital I've visited has advised me not to try again. I don't want to give up..."

The professor set down the reports and adjusted his glasses. "I'm afraid my advice is the same. Preserving your life and uterus was your greatest blessing. Your body underwent multiple blood transfusions, and your organs are heavily scarred. Neither your organs nor your body can support another pregnancy."

The same verdict, no matter how many times she heard it, cut deep.

Violet closed her eyes in despair. "What if I rest properly and focus on healing? Wouldn't that help?"

"It's highly unlikely and extremely risky. As a doctor, I urge you to respect both life and science."

The doctor's words left Violet feeling numb. She lowered her eyes, suppressing her grief, thanked the professor in a trembling voice, and left the examination room.

Violet walked unsteadily, her face pale, her eyes reflecting exhaustion and anxiety.

After a few steps, she collided with another woman, nearly losing her balance. Looking up in annoyance, she was startled to see Yvette.

Yvette recognized her too, frowning with evident distaste. Without apologizing, she simply walked around Violet and continued on her way.

Violet watched Yvette's retreating figure, confusion and surprise flickering in her eyes, followed by contemplation.

This was the obstetrics department. Why would Yvette be here?

Unless...

A terrible suspicion formed in Violet's mind, causing her evident distress.

Her chest heaving, she called Zephyr Blackwood, the hospital director. "Hello, this is Violet."

"Mrs. Morgan?" Zephyr seemed unaware of her divorce from Rodolfo, his tone fawning. "How can I help you?"

"I need a small favor. I'm heading to your office now," Violet quickened her pace, deliberately making her tone familiar. "It's been so long since we've seen each other."

"Of course!" Zephyr replied jovially. "Anything I can do for you!"

"A friend of mine, Yvette, just came to your hospital for some tests. The results seem troubling—she looked upset. I asked her about it, but she was too distraught to tell me the truth..." Violet sighed. "You know how kind-hearted girls are, always reluctant to burden their friends with problems. I was hoping you could check her results so I might help her."

"Yvette?" Zephyr's keyboard clicked in the background. Then, puzzled, he asked, "She's married, isn't she? Is she having relationship problems?"

Violet paused. "What do you mean?"

"She's pregnant. Why would she be upset about that?"
