Chapter 434 Dad
The plane broke through the clouds, and the scenery gradually unfolded around them.
The vast sky stretched endlessly, deep and mysterious.
Sunlight streamed through the clouds, casting golden rays that made the clouds look like a giant white canvas dotted with golden spots.
Through the window, the sunlight slanted into the cabin, illuminating Yvette's face.
Yvette wore a black silk eye mask, already dampened with tears.
The plane continued its flight, the scenery constantly changing, but Yvette had no heart to look.
This time, Albert had "thoughtfully" bought a ticket for Sylvia as well.
Before boarding, while Albert was on a work call, Sylvia briefly recounted the events of the morning to Yvette.
"David knew you would come back, so when I said I was getting something for you, the butler let me in immediately," Sylvia said, her eyes slightly red as she looked at Yvette with concern. "You were right, David destroyed all the evidence. The storage room is completely empty."
Yvette stood there, stunned.
Sylvia continued, "I sent all his packed things back to you and searched everywhere, but there's nothing left."
Just as Sylvia finished speaking, Albert ended his call and walked over.
Yvette fought to hold back her emotions until she boarded the plane and put on her eye mask. Only then did her tears dare to flow.
David had indeed been thorough, leaving her no room for recovery.
Albert turned his head and saw Yvette leaning back in her seat, seemingly asleep, but her body was trembling slightly.
He frowned. "What's wrong?"
Yvette didn't respond, continuing to feign sleep, and Albert didn't press further.
The sun was just setting at the edge of the airport, casting a golden light on the runway.
The plane began its descent, gliding through the twilight sky, landing on the runway, and slowly coming to a stop.
Yvette removed her eye mask, and her face was now calm. She looked out the window at the airport building, which appeared grand under the setting sun.
But to Yvette, the sunset was blinding.
The driver dropped off Sylvia, and Yvette followed Albert home.
Yvette checked the time; it was just when BoBo and CiCi's kindergarten was letting out.
She changed her clothes and was about to leave when Albert's voice came from behind. "Where are you going?"
Yvette paused and turned to look at him. "I want to pick up the kids. I've been away for so long; they must miss me."
Yvette was a bit nervous, fearing that back in Luken, Albert would confine her and not let her go out.
To her surprise, Albert just raised an eyebrow, rolled up his sleeves, and stood up. "I'll go with you."
Yvette was taken aback, doubting her ears. "What?"
"I said, I'll go with you." Albert strode over to Yvette, looking down at her. "What? You don't want me to?"
Yvette felt the heat of his gaze and instinctively turned her head to avoid his eyes.
"No, let's go together then."
Albert nodded and followed Yvette out.
In the soft twilight, they walked side by side. The kindergarten was within walking distance, and Yvette felt uneasy, wanting to keep a step away from him.
But Albert kept moving closer, his shoulder lightly brushing against hers.
Yvette pressed her lips together and was about to step aside again when Albert grew annoyed.
He put his arm around her shoulders and asked in a low voice, "Do you really not want to be near me?"
Yvette's body stiffened. "This is the way to the kindergarten. It's full of kids..."
Albert ignored her, still holding her as they stood at the kindergarten gate.
Yvette wanted to break free but didn't dare, so she clasped her hands together, unable to hide her unease.
Just then, Albert's phone rang. He released his grip on her waist and turned to take the call, giving Yvette a moment of relief.
Albert's face darkened as he answered the call. It was Vincent.
"Mr. Valdemar, there's a problem with the contract in Eldoria. We need you to review and sign it again."
Vincent's voice sounded anxious. Albert frowned, displeased. "Whose fault is it?"
"One of the investors is causing issues, which is stalling the technical progress. Complaints are already coming in."
"My question is, whose fault is it?" Albert repeated.
"It's Mr. Turner's fault," Vincent replied.
Willie Turner.
Albert's expression remained cold. "Since it's Mr. Turner's fault, let him fix it. It's not my problem."
Vincent knew this was bad. "Mr. Turner has already made the fastest changes and increased his investment. We just need your signature now."
"No," Albert said with a cold laugh. "Let him come to me."
"What?" Vincent was confused. "I thought you don't want to deal with him?"
"First, it is his problem. If he's slowing things down, he can come and explain it to me personally. Second, if he comes, I'll ask him to control his daughter, who keeps clinging to men. Third, he's interrupting me from picking up my kids."
Vincent was stunned, listening to the dial tone. He was troubled.
Albert's demand to have Willie control his daughter made sense, given Albert's recent frustrations, even in Eldoria.
But interrupting him from picking up his kids...
Vincent cleared his throat. "Mr. Valdemar..."
By now, the kindergarten gate was bustling with parents picking up their children, filling the area with energy.
Seeing Yvette ready to swipe her card to get the kids, Albert's patience wore thin.
"Handle it," Albert said, hanging up.
He strode over to Yvette just as BoBo and CiCi, with their little backpacks, came out.
When the two kids saw Yvette, their eyes lit up with joy. They ran to her, laughing. "Mommy!"
Seeing the kids throw themselves into Yvette's arms, hugging and kissing her, Albert's cold eyes softened.
Watching Yvette's affectionate interaction with the kids, Albert's face relaxed.
"Mommy, Mommy, BoBo and I missed you so, so, so, so much!" CiCi was so excited, she repeated "so" several times, clinging to Yvette's neck.
BoBo nodded vigorously. "Mommy, CiCi has grown up. Even when you weren't home, she was very good."
"Mommy missed you so, so much, too!" Yvette's voice trembled, as if she was about to cry.
Just then, CiCi peeked out from Yvette's neck and saw Albert.
"Wow!" CiCi let go of Yvette and bounced over to hug Albert's leg. "You're back too!"
CiCi smiled sweetly. "Daddy."
Albert was taken aback.
