Chapter 628 Albert Will Cherish Her
Seeing Cheryl's stunned expression, BoBo paused, pressing his lips together with embarrassment.
BoBo blinked and added, "But since I can't read all the words yet, I'm not sure if you'll like the book I picked."
Cheryl's nose tingled with emotion. She never expected Albert to share those memories with BoBo, much less for the boy to remember and express it through his gift.
Back then, when James married Sarah and they had twins, it was the talk of all Luken. Hayden and Cheryl's favorite son with their beloved daughter-in-law—they couldn't have been happier, and they poured endless love into the twins.
No matter how busy work got, they always made time to come home and be with David and Albert. Over the years, their bond deepened, and they were part of every milestone in the boys' lives.
If not for what happened later, they would have been the happiest family imaginable.
The memory brought tears to Cheryl's eyes.
Seeing Cheryl's expression change, BoBo grew anxious. "Great-grandma, don't you like it? I could go exchange it for another one?"
"How could I not love it?" Cheryl quickly collected herself. "Of course I love it! I love both of your gifts!"
Looking at these two children who bore such a striking resemblance to Albert, holding gifts they'd carefully chosen for her, Cheryl's heart swelled with emotion.
This feeling meant more to her than receiving the most expensive presents money could buy.
"Thank you both," Cheryl said, her voice thick with emotion.
Her eyes misted as she stroked their heads, overwhelmed with feeling.
"Your gifts are more precious than any gold or jewels, because you chose them with such care and love." Cheryl spoke with gravity. "I treasure them more than you know."
Watching Cheryl's emotional response, Yvette felt both guilty and happy.
She should have brought the children to visit much sooner. Her sweet children could bring Cheryl such joy—it was a way for her and Albert to show their devotion.
"Grandma, I'm sorry," Yvette said, moving to Cheryl's side. "I should have brought them to see you more often."
"You're here now, that's what matters, Yvette." Cheryl gripped Yvette's hand tightly, her excitement evident. "I've missed you all so much."
"Grandma, how have you been feeling lately?" Yvette linked arms with Cheryl, then turned to the children. "Shall we help your great-grandma inside?"
"Yes!"
"Such good children." Cheryl smiled warmly. "I'm doing well, don't worry about me. It's just that my heart is always with the Valdemar family—the people and everything that matters."
Cheryl didn't elaborate, but Yvette understood exactly what she meant by "the people and everything that matters."
"Yvette, I don't want to pressure you, but an old woman rattling around in this big house does get lonely. Whenever you and the children have free time, please come visit."
Guilt twisted in Yvette's chest. "Grandma, I'm so sorry we've been neglectful. We'll definitely visit more often from now on."
Looking at Cheryl's aged appearance, Yvette felt a pang of sadness.
When Hayden first passed and Cheryl returned from abroad, she still carried herself with such vigor and authority. Even then, when she was healthy and held considerable power, few people genuinely came to see her or keep her company.
Now, with Albert controlling most of the Valdemar Group shares, the Valdemar Villa felt even more desolate.
Seeing Yvette's promise, Cheryl's mood brightened considerably.
"That's wonderful." Cheryl nodded with a smile, then suddenly remembered something. "By the way, why didn't Albert come with you?"
Yvette paused, then realized Cheryl wasn't asking why Albert hadn't driven them—she was hoping he would have joined them.
"Grandma, Albert's been absolutely swamped with work lately—he really couldn't get away. So I brought the children ahead. Once he gets through this busy period, I'll make sure he comes with us to visit you."
"That Albert, always claiming he's too busy with work," Cheryl complained. "It's really too much—no matter how busy he is, he should still come see me."
Seeing Cheryl's irritation, Yvette quickly tried to smooth things over. "Grandma, please don't be upset. Once he finishes this busy stretch, I'll drag him here myself if I have to!"
Seeing Yvette's serious expression, as if she genuinely intended to follow through, Cheryl couldn't help but laugh.
"Oh Yvette, I'm just teasing you." Cheryl spoke with warmth. "Seeing how you care for Albert and defend him makes me happy. When you two have a strong relationship and live well together, it puts my mind at ease."
Yvette nodded. "We will, Grandma. And you need to take care of yourself too—don't worry about us so much."
"I will," Cheryl said with emotion. "You're such a good girl. Albert is truly blessed to have you as his wife. I hope he treasures what he has."
Cheryl's voice carried a note of melancholy—after all, she'd once said similar words to James and Sarah.
One wrong turn could change everything.
"He will," Yvette said softly but firmly, her gaze downcast.
She and Albert had weathered so many ups and downs together.
The journey had been incredibly difficult, but it had also clarified how much they meant to each other.
Maybe no one in this world could be completely certain their partner would cherish them, but Yvette could be.
They'd had so many misunderstandings and barriers between them that seemed utterly absurd once the truth came to light.
That's why she could trust Albert completely—trust that he would treasure her.
Yvette looked up, meeting Cheryl's eyes with a confident smile.
Seeing the certainty in Yvette's eyes, Cheryl's body trembled slightly. She stared at Yvette as if trying to etch this moment—her expression, her conviction—permanently into her memory.
A contented smile spread across Cheryl's face. "That's good. You must both take care of each other, you understand?"
Yvette nodded. "We understand, Grandma."
Cheryl's eyes twinkled. "Since you're in such a good place in your relationship, why not take this opportunity for a proper honeymoon? I'll handle company matters and sponsor the whole trip—you just focus on enjoying yourselves."
Yvette blinked in surprise, wondering why Cheryl had suddenly changed topics, when she heard her continue.
"A honeymoon would be perfect for having another baby—children conceived when couples are deeply in love turn out beautiful!"
