Chapter 374 Where Is He?

When Yvette left home, the consecutive sunny days had suddenly turned gloomy.

Before long, rain began to fall from the sky, and the heavy clouds pressed down, making her feel oppressed.

The once bustling city now appeared cold and bleak in Yvette's eyes.

The entire scene before her looked like a rain-soaked sketch, devoid of vibrant colors, leaving only gray and white.

The rain gradually intensified, and the scenery outside the car window became blurred and distant, just like her happiness.

The scenery outside the car window rushed past Yvette, impossible to grasp.

The car stopped at the hospital entrance, and Yvette, without an umbrella, had to dash into the inpatient building in the rain.

Yvette patted the water droplets off her body and walked towards Albert's ward without concern.

Although she had been driven away, she did not intend to give up.

Entering Albert's small suite, Yvette immediately saw Cheryl sitting on the sofa. Hearing the door open, Cheryl looked up, her calm eyes revealing she had been waiting for Yvette, knowing she would come.

Yvette's lips parted slightly, and she said softly, "Grandma."

Cheryl slowly stood up, her expression cold. "Let's talk outside."

"Grandma, I've already said everything I needed to say." Yvette pursed her lips, somewhat resistant. "I'm going in to take care of him."

Yvette was about to push the door open when Cheryl stopped her. "He's not in there, you don't need to go in."

Yvette was stunned. "Where did he go?"

"To a better hospital." Cheryl looked at Yvette intently. "I was also surprised. I originally thought I would need to find many people to carry him away, but he agreed directly."

Yvette's breathing became a bit labored, but she still held back and said, "Then take me to take care of him."

"Yvette, I hope this is the last time I persuade you." Cheryl's gaze was firm, not yielding an inch. "I originally hoped you and David could live well and raise the two children. But since you are unwilling, I won't force it. The Valdemar Family, these two people, are not suitable for you."

"Grandma, you are mistaken." Yvette gradually calmed down. "I don't necessarily have to be with Albert, but he got hurt because of my child. I have the responsibility and obligation to take care of him. If you don't want me to be with him, that's fine. As long as he allows me to leave, I won't cling."

Clearly, she had always wanted to leave, but now that Cheryl no longer strongly demanded she leave the children behind, she couldn't just take this opportunity to leave decisively.

Because she knew that if she left and something happened to Albert, she would be trapped in guilt and remorse for the rest of her life.

She couldn't do it.

Cheryl's expression was clear. "If you are acting out of gratitude and apology, it's unnecessary. The Valdemar Family lacks neither caretakers, medical resources, nor money. Even if you want to repay us, it's dispensable to us. On the contrary, your presence will cause Albert emotional fluctuations, which will affect his health."

Cheryl continued, "We will not abandon these two children, no matter what they become."

Yvette's breath hitched; she knew every word Cheryl said was true.

But at this moment, she just wanted to see Albert again and tell him everything about the children.

Even though she had said it last time, he didn't believe it at all.

Yvette's eyes ached, on the verge of tears. Her lips moved to tell Cheryl but she held back.

Cheryl would no longer stand by her side; she couldn't see her as family anymore.

Yvette took a deep breath. "Since he doesn't want to tell me where he is now, I won't force it. But please tell him that as long as he needs me, I will appear immediately."

For a whole half month, Yvette didn't go anywhere, just stayed with the two children.

This sudden freedom made Yvette feel somewhat unreal.

Time passed quickly, and Yvette still couldn't see Albert, as if she was inexplicably trapped in an illusory world, unable to break free.

Looking at the children's innocent and lovely faces, Yvette felt a bit of comfort.

The best decision she had made in her life was to keep them, raising them from swaddled infants to the well-behaved and sensible children they had become.

"Mommy." CiCi ran out of the room, jumped onto the sofa, and snuggled into Yvette's arms. "BoBo said something bad to me!"

Yvette helplessly hugged her and kissed her heavily on the face. "What did BoBo say to you this time?"

"BoBo said I'm too clingy!" CiCi pouted. "He's so annoying."

At this moment, BoBo also walked out, glancing at CiCi. "If you don't want me to say that, then stop following me all the time."

CiCi's little mouth quivered. "Mommy."

"This is between you two, it has nothing to do with Mommy." Yvette smiled, not intending to get involved in their little squabbles.

CiCi twisted her body, trying to act cute, but lost balance and fell backward from Yvette's lap. Seeing this, Yvette's back tightened as she instinctively reached out to catch her. Though CiCi wasn't heavy, the sudden weight of her fall almost made Yvette unable to catch her.

At that moment, Yvette seemed to return to that late night, seeing BoBo and CiCi fall and being caught by Albert. That scene flashed in Yvette's mind again!

Her heart suddenly tightened, missing a few beats, as if even her breathing had stopped.

"CiCi." Yvette caught CiCi and held her tightly in her arms. "Are you okay, CiCi? Are you scared?"

CiCi was clearly frightened, her expression dazed, holding onto Yvette tightly, her body still trembling slightly.

"CiCi!" Yvette was a bit nervous. "Answer Mommy, CiCi?"

CiCi seemed to be awakened by Yvette's call. She blinked, her little mouth quivered, and she immediately started crying. "Mommy, I'm scared!"

Yvette swallowed, holding CiCi in her arms with heartache, patting her back and softly comforting her, "It's okay, CiCi, it's okay now."

"I don't want to fall, Mommy, I don't want to fall!" CiCi cried. "Mommy, Uncle Albert will be hurt if I fall."

Yvette's eyes reddened, hearing CiCi mention Albert, she realized that longing had already overwhelmed her.

Yvette couldn't hesitate any longer. After comforting CiCi, she finally couldn't resist taking out her phone and sending a message to Vincent: [Where is he? I want to see him.]
