Chapter 361 Please, Save Me, Albert

The crowd suddenly stirred, and following their gaze, Violet saw Yvette enter in a form-fitting light green mermaid gown that accentuated her graceful figure.

Her hair was tied in a low ponytail, with strands falling down to cover her bare back, revealing glimpses of her delicate skin as she walked.

Yvette's makeup was very light today, deliberately understated.

Yet, she always had a kind of elegant but eye-catching aura. Even among the well-dressed and beautiful ladies of the elite, their eyes couldn't help but glance at Yvette.

The light green dress made Yvette's skin look very delicate. She stood tall and graceful, exuding a cool elegance. Her eyes showed little emotion, but she was polite and gentle to everyone.

This feeling of warmth mixed with aloofness made people want to explore her more.

The elite ladies who had just been talking about Yvette and Albert lowered their voices, but couldn't hide the excitement in their words.

"She is indeed beautiful. If I were Mr. Valdemar, I would like her too!"

"Like her, sure, but to make Mr. Valdemar so devoted, she must have some tricks up her sleeve."

"We should ask her for advice. Maybe we can learn some tricks to keep our husbands in check!"

As they talked, another commotion erupted at the banquet hall entrance. Following the crowd's gaze, they saw Albert walking in, a white shirt and dark suit highlighting his chiseled, cold features.

With his tall and clean-cut appearance, he was the kind of man every woman couldn't take her eyes off.

Albert strode in, wrapped an arm around Yvette's slender waist, and whispered in her ear. Yvette nodded obediently.

The man was broad-shouldered and strong, the woman slender and graceful. Standing together and whispering, they made a very pleasing picture, making the elite ladies present envious.

"Oh my, does Mr. Valdemar mean to personally escort Mrs. Valdemar in?"

"Of course, he must be worried she wouldn't be comfortable in such a setting and came to reassure her."

"This couple really makes people envious!"

"We don't have such luck."

The few ladies were discussing enthusiastically, completely unaware that Violet, standing nearby, had already darkened her expression.

Yvette was a bit uncomfortable in such a setting, and as she walked in, she nervously clenched her hands.

Fortunately, Albert dealt with those who wanted to talk business with him and came in to reassure her.

But once she calmed down a bit, she realized how out of place Albert was here.

The place was filled with elite ladies drinking and chatting together, not a single man in sight.

Feeling a bit awkward, Yvette cautiously said to Albert, "You don't have to stay with me."

Albert replied, "You didn't want to come in the first place, so of course, I have to stay with you."

Yvette looked around and waved her hand at Albert. "I'm fine, you go handle your business."

Albert raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

"Yes." Yvette nodded. "Everyone is waiting for you. Besides, this place is full of elite ladies, and with you here, it's inconvenient for them to chat."

Yvette's forced composure was too obvious. Albert curled his lips, gazed at her, and said softly, "I hope you can get used to the life of socializing with the elite ladies soon."

"Oh." Yvette lowered her eyes, still looking forced. "I'll try."

"Not try, you must." Albert explained, "I don't want to be distracted worrying about you not fitting in while I'm out doing business."

Yvette heard the hint of "indulgence" in his tone and was momentarily stunned. She pursed her lips, hiding the blush on her cheeks. "Okay, I understand."

Yvette casually picked up a glass of champagne. Just then, an elite lady came over to chat with her, so she turned her back and started talking with them.

Albert watched Yvette's back as she tried hard to blend in, feeling a bit more at ease, and then left the banquet hall.

Seeing Albert leave, the elite ladies standing next to Yvette started to tease her.

"Indeed, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Mrs. Valdemar, your relationship is just too good!"

"Exactly, Mr. Valdemar is watching you so closely, even escorting you in. Is he afraid we might bully you?"

Yvette smiled. "How could that be?"

"Why not? Luckily, there are no men here. If there were, Mr. Valdemar would probably watch you even more closely!"

"Your dress is so beautiful, it perfectly complements your figure and the color suits your skin tone."

Yvette replied, "Thank you."

"Mrs. Valdemar, you must teach us how you managed to train Mr. Valdemar so well!"

"Yes, I heard Mr. Valdemar is indifferent to others, but his favoritism towards you is too obvious!"

Yvette pursed her lips. "No."

Yvette was never good at handling such occasions. Although she wouldn't make mistakes, she couldn't handle it with ease either.

After a round of small talk and flattery, Yvette felt tired. She was there just to accompany Albert and hadn't planned on socializing.

Everyone had drunk and chatted enough. While waiting, the elite ladies started playing games.

Yvette waved off the game, uninterested in the rules, and looked for a corner to sit and rest. Putting down her glass, she headed that way.

As Yvette was walking, suddenly, a net veil was thrown over her.

Yvette's vision instantly plunged into darkness, and her body froze uncontrollably, a familiar sense of despair surged up.

The net veil felt like a rope tightening around her neck, depriving her chest of oxygen, making her feel suffocated.

Yvette felt like she was back on the day of her kidnapping, hooded and waiting for her life to drain away in endless darkness and despair. Reflexively closing her eyes, her body trembled uncontrollably. Tears slid down her cheeks as her strength left her, causing her to collapse to the ground.

Yvette's reaction stunned everyone present. Even Kennedy, who just wanted to tease her, was startled and quickly withdrew the net veil.

But it was too late. Yvette sat on the ground, hugging her arms in pain, eyes closed, and murmuring something in agony.

After all, Yvette was Albert's wife. Her sudden intense reaction kept everyone at a distance, turning the scene chaotic. Watching the out-of-control Yvette, Violet was equally frightened.

She approached Yvette and, in the noisy environment, heard Yvette's painful murmurs and desperate cries.

"Help me."

"Albert, help me."

"Please, help me, Albert."
