Chapter 480 I Just Want Her to Live

Valdemar Mansion

Albert sat on the long sofa, eyeing the experts in front of him.

Last time, they had personally informed him that Yvette's DNA had been found at the scene.

The experts looked tense, facing the powerful presence of Albert, who resembled a poised predator, muscles taut, ready to strike.

These experts were top in their fields, having achieved significant success, yet now they appeared uneasy.

Albert leaned forward slightly, his gaze intense. "You all know why you're here."

His voice was low and commanding, with an undertone of threat and warning.

The experts exchanged hesitant glances.

"Sorry, Mr. Valdemar, we really don't know why you called us today."

Albert smirked internally but didn't show it, his eyes growing darker.

From Violet's attitude and the current clues, it seemed possible that Yvette had survived the accident.

So why were these experts so certain that Yvette had been vaporized, claiming to have found her DNA at the fire scene?

Hope flickered in Albert's heart, but so did suspicion.

Who had instructed these experts to say such things?

Albert's eyes narrowed as he looked at them sharply. "Let's cut to the chase. You know the truth. Now, I want you to tell me."

The experts exchanged nervous glances, filled with hesitation and struggle.

They knew what Albert meant by "the truth," but the tea Cheryl had sent them came with irresistible rewards. They couldn't afford to offend Cheryl.

Seeing Albert had no evidence, one expert feigned confusion. "What truth are you talking about?"

Albert raised an eyebrow, knowing they wouldn't give in so easily.

He waved his hand, and Vincent handed out some documents to the experts.

As they opened the files, their faces turned pale with fear.

Albert adjusted his sleeves, speaking slowly and deliberately, "These are the proofs of your academic fraud over the years. Someone was about to submit them, but I intercepted them. As long as these documents are with me, no one will report you."

Albert smirked. "Consider these gifts from me. You've worked hard on my wife's case. Please, don't stand on ceremony—accept them."

The experts exchanged looks, realizing they had no choice but to comply.

They stared at the envelopes as if they were staring at a demon.

Albert's cold gaze made it clear that refusal would mean no chance of redemption.

The evidence in Albert's hands was enough to send them to prison.

If they revealed the truth, the evidence would remain hidden, and they might even gain more.

"Mr. Valdemar, we had no choice," one expert sighed. "We're just researchers. We don't understand the complexities of your family. Your grandmother told us what to say, and we had to comply..."

Albert sneered.

So it was her.

He glanced at the expert, smiling without warmth. "Trusting her isn't safe. My methods are more... persuasive." He scanned the room coldly. "So, what's the truth?"

The atmosphere in the living room grew heavy and oppressive, no one daring to speak first.

Albert's presence became increasingly menacing until finally, another expert couldn't hold back and revealed the truth.

"Mr. Valdemar, after the explosion, there were no human remains found. Only some blood."

Albert's throat tightened, hope rising in his eyes.

When he spoke again, his voice trembled slightly. "So, according to your findings, my wife might still be alive?"

"Yes, there were no signs of anyone being burned to death at the scene."

Upon learning that Albert had discovered the truth from the experts, Cheryl hurried back to Valdemar Mansion.

When Cheryl entered, Albert was sitting on the sofa, holding a cup of tea, looking unusually content.

Cheryl was taken aback. It was the first time since Yvette's incident that she saw some of the gloom lift from Albert.

Noticing Cheryl, Albert glanced up briefly before looking away.

Cheryl quickly approached him, her face showing fatigue but her eyes filled with determination and displeasure.

She stared directly at Albert, her tone sharp. "Albert, why is it so important for you to find Yvette?"

Albert stood up slowly, looking down at Cheryl. "Why did you instruct them to confirm Yvette's death, even claiming she was vaporized? Cheryl, when did you become so cruel?"

Albert's distant and angry eyes stunned Cheryl.

Even when Albert believed the Valdemar Family had caused Sarah's death, he still cared for her and Hayden.

Cheryl felt deeply hurt, her shoulders trembling slightly.

Albert knew she was genuinely upset.

But he was also heartbroken. The only family member he had left wanted to keep him from the one he loved.

"Albert, you only care about her. What about the Valdemar Family? What about me?" Cheryl's eyes filled with tears. "She was with your brother and is the daughter of your mother's killer. Do you want her to destroy you?"

Albert replied calmly, "That's my business."

"Don't you care about finding out the truth about Sarah's death? Can you accept it now?"

Albert lowered his gaze. "Because Yvette is more important than the truth."

"You're insane, Albert!" Cheryl's body shook with emotion, almost collapsing. "What about the Valdemar Family's reputation?"

"The Valdemar Family's reputation?" Albert laughed coldly. "Do any of them have any honor? Haven't they done enough disgusting things?"

Seeing Albert's stubbornness, Cheryl finally broke down in tears. "What about the shareholders impeaching you? What about people mocking you?"

Albert's eyes shone with determination. "None of that matters. I just want Yvette alive."
