Chapter 280 It's Not Yvette
Yvette glanced helplessly at Room 3368, clutching her phone, and then turned to jog away.
"Sir, I'll be there in about two minutes. Just keep an eye on things for me a bit longer, and I'll apologize in person." Yvette dashed into the elevator, but there was no response from the other end of the line.
She looked at her phone, confused. The call was ongoing, but there was silence from the other end.
Maybe there's no signal in the elevator?
Thinking this, Yvette hung up.
The elevator descended quickly, and before it reached the first floor, Yvette got a call from a colleague.
Her colleague sounded a bit anxious. "Jessica, where are you right now?"
"I went to Room 3368, but the person in charge isn't there," Yvette said regretfully. "CiCi caused some trouble, and I need to pick up the kids, so I can't wait any longer."
Her colleague said, "Mr. Valdemar from the Luken headquarters has agreed to meet with us. His assistant is already here, and he'll be here soon."
Yvette's tone was excited. "Really? I'll come over right now!"
The colleague asked, "Aren't you supposed to pick up the kids?"
Yvette hesitated. Just as she was thinking of a solution, her colleague spoke again, "How about you come over first? I'll ask my sister to pick them up for you. She happens to be nearby. Last time you brought the kids over, they had a great time with her. BoBo should be willing to go with her."
Yvette was pleasantly surprised. "That would be great! Please ask your sister to pick them up for me, they're in the hotel lobby. By the way, CiCi spilled water on someone's pants, please apologize for me."
"No problem."
Yvette didn't have time to explain to Christina and Lester or apologize to the person who got wet. She rushed out of the elevator and left through the back door.
Albert had limited time in Las Vegas and could leave at any moment. She had to seize the opportunity.
By the time Albert realized, the call had already ended. His hands trembled as he tried to call back, but the number was unreachable.
His heart was pounding wildly. Albert hadn't felt the blood coursing through his body like this in a long time.
The voice he had longed for day and night sounded so much like Yvette.
Albert's hands holding the phone were trembling almost imperceptibly.
Just then, Albert's phone rang. It was Vincent calling.
Albert's heart was still pounding. After a moment, he finally answered, "Speak."
"Mr. Valdemar, the Las Vegas branch has prepared the conference room. Are you almost here?"
Albert's gaze shifted to Christina and Lester in front of him.
The two children had distinct features: Christina's chubby face always exuded a bright and charmingly cute expression, while Lester's youthful visage portrayed a level of maturity and responsibility that surpassed many adults.
Their eyes, expressions, and the voice on the phone gave Albert a bold idea.
He wanted to see if the woman on the other end of the phone, the mother of these two children, could possibly be Yvette.
"I can't make it right now," he said, his Adam's apple moving slightly. "You handle it and state our requirements."
Vincent was stunned. "Didn't you adjust your flight time to make room for this meeting?"
Albert's eyes dimmed, a thin layer of moisture covering them.
Today, four years ago, was the day Yvette disappeared.
He had initially rushed to return, but a chain of events had caused delays, prompting him to reschedule his flight and allowing for more time to meet with David's team.
Instead of heading straight to the branch office, he opted to make a detour back to the hotel.
He should have left directly, but he ran into Christina and Lester.
It was as if some mysterious force was guiding him to find Yvette.
Albert's voice was hoarse and tight. "I have something more important to do."
Not knowing how long they had waited, Christina and Lester were starting to get restless.
As Christina repeatedly got up to complain to Lester, the emotional toll on the child was evident in his frequent frowns and searching glances.
Christina finally couldn't help but ask him, "Why hasn't my mommy come yet?"
Albert licked his dry lips. "We'll wait for her together."
"Okay." Christina lowered her head, clearly disappointed.
Suddenly, a clear female voice rang out, "BoBo, CiCi, I'm here!"
Albert's heart skipped a beat. He stood up abruptly and turned to look, locking eyes with the woman.
Their eyes met, and both were momentarily stunned.
The woman's eyes lit up at the sight of Albert, captivated by his flawless physique and appearance.
She jogged up to Albert. "Sir, I'm sorry, did CiCi and BoBo cause any trouble?"
The woman who came was not Yvette.
Albert tilted his head slightly, and his demeanor instantly turned cold. A wave of disappointment filled his heart.
The miracle hadn't happened.
Albert pressed his lips together, his fists clenched, trying to control his emotions. "It's okay."
"How 'bout I take you out for a meal to make up for it and say thanks?" The woman leaned in, "You free right now?"
The woman's enthusiasm made Albert uncomfortable. He frowned. "Sorry, I have something else to do. I have to go."
Albert lowered his gaze, waved to Christina and Lester, and turned to leave.
As he turned, the corners of Albert's mouth couldn't help but droop.
Come to think of it, how could Yvette possibly appear in Stellaria?
He was probably just missing her so much that he started imagining things when he heard a similar voice.
The voice on the phone would naturally sound different. How could it be Yvette?
It's been four years; it couldn't be her.
Albert tugged at the corners of his mouth, smiling self-deprecatingly.
Acting like this, he was no different from a madman.
The woman led Lester and Christina out of the hotel, casting a longing glance back as they exited.
A man so perfect in appearance, such a coincidental encounter, how was this different from a TV drama!
Unfortunately, Albert didn't seem to have any interest in her.
The woman sighed and looked down at Christina and Lester.
Lester still had a serious expression, while Christina pouted in grievance. They both seemed clearly unhappy.
Seeing the woman looking down at them, Lester looked up and asked, "Where's my mommy?"
"Alright, your mother has to work, so she asked me to pick you up." The woman patted their heads. "I did apologize and thank him as your mother instructed, didn't I?"
Christina's eyes reddened. "That man looked a lot like my daddy."
Lester immediately said angrily, "But that man is not our daddy!"
