Chapter 626 My Dad Is a Pilot!

The temperature had been dropping steadily, and today's weather was absolutely miserable.

Thick, heavy clouds blanketed the entire sky. Though it was only afternoon, the light had already dimmed to an almost twilight gloom, as if night was falling early.

Wind whipped through the streets, sending leaves and debris spiraling through the air.

Yvette sat in the car, watching the sky grow darker by the minute, a knot of worry forming in her stomach. At least the rain had held off until after the children's school pickup.

After collecting BoBo and CiCi, the car began its slow journey home. The children chattered excitedly, bubbling over with stories from their day at preschool.

Watching the two of them, Yvette felt a warm sense of contentment wash over her.

Children were such pure creatures—their joy was infectious, especially when they were with someone they loved.

The car pulled through the gates of the Valdemar Mansion.

As Yvette led BoBo and CiCi inside, she heard movement from upstairs. Looking up, she spotted Albert descending the staircase.

The moment CiCi caught sight of Albert, she broke free from Yvette's hand and rushed toward him.

She wrapped her little arms around his legs, tilting her head back to gaze up at him with sparkling eyes. "Daddy, you look so handsome today!"

Yvette paused, taking a closer look. Albert was wearing a black dress shirt—clearly designer, perfectly tailored to showcase his broad shoulders and narrow waist.

The fabric clung just enough to hint at the defined muscles beneath. He cut an impressive figure, commanding and athletic in a way that was hard to ignore.

No wonder CiCi was smitten.

BoBo seemed mortified by his sister's display. He quickly grabbed CiCi's hand. "Don't act like such a fangirl."

"What's wrong with being daddy's fangirl!" CiCi declared proudly. "He's MY daddy!"

Her sweet words melted even Albert's typically stoic demeanor. He bent down and scooped both children into his arms.

"It's perfectly fine to be your own father's fangirl." He chuckled, then turned to BoBo. "Does she do this often?"

"All the time," BoBo nodded. "The last time she got this excited was over a pilot. She said he was really handsome."

"Well, pilots ARE handsome!" CiCi piped up enthusiastically. "That was the most handsome pilot we saw on our flight back!"

Albert raised an eyebrow, about to respond when Yvette suddenly spoke up. "CiCi's talking about Victor."

"Victor?" Albert turned to look at Yvette, puzzlement crossing his features. "When was this?"

"It must have been on our flight back to the country." Yvette's eyes flickered downward, clearly reluctant to elaborate. After all, she'd still been traveling under Jessica's identity at the time.

Albert nodded, and CiCi suddenly threw her arms around his neck. "Daddy, do you know that handsome pilot?"

"I do. We used to work together."

"Work together?" CiCi's eyes went wide. "You mean like... at the same job? Does that mean you're a pilot too, Daddy?"

"That's right." Albert nodded, his eyes crinkling with amusement.

CiCi looked as if she'd just heard the most wonderful news in the world. Her eyes grew round as saucers. "Daddy! Oh my gosh! My daddy is a PILOT!"

Her reaction clearly delighted Albert. He smiled. "Yes, I am."

CiCi burst into giggles, her eyes scrunching into happy crescents. "BoBo, see! I told you pilots are all handsome! I love pilots!"

Even by dinnertime, CiCi was still riding high on the discovery that her daddy was a pilot.

The family of four sat around the dining table when thunder suddenly crashed outside, followed by the steady drumming of rain against the windows.

Albert glanced toward the weather, his brow furrowing slightly. He turned to Yvette. "Have the driver take them to school tomorrow. With weather like this, you should stay home and rest."

BoBo quickly looked up from his plate. "Today was our last day anyway, Daddy. Winter break starts tomorrow."

"Winter break?" Albert seemed surprised.

"Yes! Today was the very last day!" CiCi chimed in between bites. "All our classmates were talking about going on trips with their mommies and daddies."

Yvette served them more food, asking casually, "Where did they say they were going?"

Her question immediately captured both children's attention, and they launched into an animated discussion.

"Some of our friends are going to the beach, and others are going somewhere cold to ski." BoBo added pointedly, "They're all going with both their mommy AND daddy."

Yvette caught the hint in BoBo's words. Seeing the hopeful looks in both children's eyes, she thought about Albert's demanding work schedule.

After a moment's consideration, she said gently, "It sounds like all your friends have exciting vacation plans. How about after dinner, we make our own vacation plan together?"

Seeing that Yvette hadn't dismissed the idea outright, both children perked up with anticipation. "Yes!" they chorused.

True to her word, after dinner Yvette sat down with BoBo and CiCi to plan their winter break.

As expected, both children had the same wish—they wanted to take a family trip, all four of them together.

Yvette felt torn. On one hand, there was Albert with his overwhelming work commitments. On the other, there were the children who had never experienced a proper family vacation.

BoBo and CiCi gazed at her with pleading eyes. "Mommy, can we go on a trip together? Please, can we?"

Yvette hesitated, but then she thought about her body—a ticking time bomb that could go off at any moment.

She realized she couldn't let the children live with this regret forever. At the very least, before her health gave out completely, she wanted to give them one family vacation with both parents.

"I can't promise anything yet," Yvette said carefully. "I need to talk to your daddy first. After all, this would be a trip for all four of us, right?"

The children exchanged glances and nodded reasonably. "Will you help convince Daddy, Mommy?"

"I'll do my best."

Yvette ruffled their hair affectionately. "Let me go talk to him now."

"Thank you, Mommy!"

Knowing Albert was in his study for a conference call, Yvette prepared a plate of cut fruit and headed upstairs to find him. She was about to knock when she noticed the door was slightly ajar. Carefully, she pushed it open.

Albert looked over and, seeing it was Yvette, beckoned her inside. She tiptoed in and set the fruit on his desk just as Vincent's voice came through the speaker.

"So Mr. Valdemar, the next few days are going to be pretty intense. Otherwise, we won't be ready for the critical period of your upcoming business trip."

Yvette's hand froze mid-motion.
