Chapter 355 How long do you think you can stay by his side?
Albert's eyes flashed with coldness as he stared intently at Yvette's back. Yvette, feeling his oppressive gaze, lowered her eyes and resisted the urge to look in the mirror, pretending not to notice his presence.
A woman's voice came from the other end of the phone, "Hello, Ms. Orlando, have you seen the email?"
"I have, but did you make a mistake?" Yvette tried to make her voice sound sincere. "In the email you sent me, there was information about both a travel visa and immigration?"
The immigration agent was a bit puzzled. "Weren't you inquiring about immigration?"
"Yes, I might have mentioned it before, but at that time, there was a fight at home, and I impulsively wanted a divorce." Yvette paused. "Now my husband and I have reconciled, and I'm not going anywhere. I plan to stay by my husband's side, so you don't need to send me any more immigration information."
The agent answered, "Oh, sorry about that. I'll make a note of it."
"Okay, thank you." Yvette changed the subject. "I looked at the different types of travel visas, and they all seem pretty good. I'll discuss the trip with my family and get back to you."
After finishing, Yvette hung up, pretending nothing had happened, and continued applying her skincare products.
When she looked up, she saw Albert slowly walking towards her in the mirror.
Yvette feigned surprise and turned around in astonishment. "You're here?"
Yvette's surprised and bewildered expression seemed genuine, indicating she was telling the truth.
"Yes." Albert didn't mention anything, but his expression softened, and there was even a slight smile at the corner of his eyes. "Did you sleep well last night?"
Yvette nodded, her emotions relaxing.
She smiled. "Pretty well."
She knew that her crisis had temporarily passed.
Yvette wore a light apricot-colored long dress, her hair styled into a bun, looking elegant and beautiful, with an indescribable mature charm.
Her makeup was light, yet captivating.
Sitting in the hotel's lounge area, Yvette sipped coffee, waiting for Albert, who was in a business meeting.
Yvette's deliberately low-key attire still drew the attention of those around her.
Looking at her appearance, it was clear that she was beautiful and charming, whether in heavy or light makeup.
The light apricot-colored long dress accentuated Yvette's delicate skin.
She only wore a slightly tinted lip balm, which revealed the natural pinkness and softness of her lips.
The lounge area was filled with wealthy ladies attending the auction dinner, and Yvette stood out. Among them was Violet, who noticed Yvette immediately upon her entrance. She had to admit, Yvette had an inexplicable charm.
Seeing Yvette walk in, completely indifferent to those around her, and sit at an empty table in the corner, starting to drink coffee, Violet felt uneasy.
Yvette sat in a sunny corner, looking at photos of BoBo and CiCi on her phone, her heart softening.
For the sake of these two children, no matter how difficult it was, she had to persevere.
Suddenly, a shadow fell over her, and Yvette looked up to meet Violet's gaze. She paused and discreetly turned off her phone, looking at Violet calmly, her eyes expressionless.
Violet gently stroked her swollen belly, curling her lips. "Long time no see."
Violet's slightly boastful gesture didn't catch Yvette's attention, but seeing her reminded Yvette of her past with Albert. It felt like a large hand was gripping her throat, making it hard to breathe, and her heart ached.
Violet's presence was a constant reminder to Yvette that she and BoBo, CiCi had once been the ones Albert had decisively abandoned.
No matter if Albert later clarified things with Violet or disregarded her, the hurt Yvette felt could never be healed.
Yvette clenched her hand but kept her face calm and composed. With an indifferent glance at Violet, she finished her coffee and stood up without hesitation. She didn't want to face Violet and risk reopening old wounds.
But Violet didn't seem to want to let her go.
As Yvette turned to leave, Violet's voice came from behind.
"Wait. Can we talk?" Violet called out to Yvette.
Yvette paused but didn't turn around, silently resisting.
Violet continued, "You don't want all the wealthy ladies here to know about our messy affairs, do you?"
Yvette frowned slightly; Violet was threatening her.
Yvette thought for a moment, then sat back down, looking up at her. "Know what? Know that you pretended to be me, dated Albert for many years, and during our marriage, made him divorce me to marry you?"
Violet didn't expect Yvette to react so strongly. She chuckled but didn't answer her question.
Violet stared at Yvette for a while, finally speaking with a hint of sarcasm, "Are you happy now?"
Yvette's expression turned cold. "We don't seem close enough to catch up."
Violet smiled indifferently. "I'm just reminding you, Albert loved me so much before, but he left me. Do you think you can stay by his side for long?"
Yvette's body stiffened. "Love you? Wasn't it because of my firefly necklace?"
"Even if it was because of a necklace, the time and feelings we shared can't be easily erased." Violet raised her chin. "Besides, if there were no feelings, why would he agree to divorce you and marry me after knowing the necklace was yours? Do you think he really wants to be with you forever?"
At this moment, Yvette's pretense finally failed.
Violet was right; even if their relationship started because Violet took her necklace, the long years of feelings couldn't be easily erased.
Because Albert still had compassion and feelings for her, he agreed to divorce Yvette and marry Violet. That's why, when choosing between them, he almost without hesitation took out $10 million to save Violet, abandoning Yvette and their unborn child.
Yvette's usually calm face finally showed a crack. She gritted her teeth. "My relationship with him is none of your business. You don't need to worry about it."
Violet kept watching Yvette's expression. She suddenly raised her eyebrows and smiled. "I thought you would be very confident now that you have everything. It seems he doesn't love you that much, didn't give you enough confidence, and you don't even have the courage to argue with me."
