Chapter 631 Rebecca's Kick When Down
Several days of dejection had taken a visible toll on Violet's complexion.
Violet walked into the skincare salon she frequented, where the staff greeted her with practiced smiles, their eyes gleaming with anticipation. After all, Violet had been a regular customer who always splurged on multiple treatments.
Under the soft lighting, a staff member guided her to a plush sofa, served her a rich cup of coffee, and began pitching their latest treatment packages.
"This is our newest treatment package, perfect for your skin type. You'll absolutely glow when we're done!" The staff member explained each step and benefit in detail.
Violet nodded. "I'll take that treatment."
Hearing Violet's approval, the staff member's eyes lit up like she'd just struck gold.
This package wasn't cheap, and if she could upsell some products afterward, her commission for the month would be secure.
As the staff member led Violet toward the VIP luxury suite, she made small talk. "Ms. Swift, it's been ages since your last visit. This treatment is absolutely perfect for you."
Before she could finish, a mocking voice cut through the air. "Of course she hasn't been here—she was supposed to marry David from the Valdemar Family, so they arranged for specialists to come to her."
Violet froze mid-step, her entire body going rigid as she slowly turned around. That voice was all too familiar—her personal nightmare.
Sure enough, Rebecca stood there with her chin raised high, eyes filled with contempt.
Violet and Rebecca's gazes met in what felt like a silent duel. Violet fought to maintain her composure, but anxiety crashed over her like waves. She knew this confrontation wasn't just about Rebecca's provocation—it was about facing the ghosts of her past.
Because of Rebecca, her marriage was destroyed, her child was lost, her chance at motherhood stolen, and her entire future ruined.
Rebecca's lips curved into a cold smile, her eyes sharp with challenge and disdain, boring into Violet like daggers aimed straight at her heart.
Violet's pulse quickened, her face flushing as she clenched her fists, nails digging deep into her palms. Her knuckles went white as she struggled to control her emotions, refusing to let her fear and vulnerability show.
Seeing Violet standing frozen, Rebecca strode toward her with confident steps.
Rebecca stopped directly in front of Violet, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Well, well, if it isn't my former stepmother. Long time no see!"
Violet's face went even paler. She wanted to respond but felt as though something was lodged in her throat.
Violet took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm within. She knew that in this crucial moment, she had to stay composed and strong—she couldn't let Rebecca see her weakness.
The atmosphere grew thick with tension. The salon's usual chatter died away, leaving only the sound of heavy breathing echoing through the space.
Violet's expression gradually turned cold as she stared at Rebecca. "Ms. Morgan, since we no longer have any relationship, there's no need for pleasantries, is there?"
Rebecca seemed displeased by Violet's calm demeanor, which only fueled her irritation further.
She let out a cold laugh, her gaze sweeping over the staff members who had lowered their heads, then raised her voice with deliberate intent. "Do you all know why Ms. Swift had specialists coming to her home for skincare treatments for so long, but suddenly showed up at your salon today?"
Violet's face went ashen. Before she could stop it, she watched the staff members shake their heads.
Rebecca spoke each word slowly and clearly, ensuring everyone present could hear her. "Because her engagement to David has been called off—indefinitely."
The staff members' expressions immediately became telling. They exchanged glances, momentarily speechless.
With Violet standing right there, they didn't dare be too obvious, but the shock and excitement in their eyes was impossible to hide.
They already knew about Violet being abandoned by Rebecca's father, Rodolfo. Now she'd been dropped by David too.
The staff member who had been so enthusiastic toward Violet noticeably cooled after Rebecca's revelation and the reality of Violet's situation.
Violet's face turned deathly pale as she fought to keep her emotions in check.
Not wanting to engage further with Rebecca, she turned to the staff. "Can we proceed with the treatment now?"
"Of course," one staff member nodded, though her eyes had already turned cold. "Please follow me."
"Wait," Rebecca interjected. "Didn't you reserve the last VIP suite for me? Why are you taking her there?"
Rebecca's voice was icy, laced with obvious mockery and accusation, clearly intent on humiliating Violet.
The staff began avoiding Violet's gaze, turning instead to fawn over Rebecca.
After all, the modest Swift Family could never compare to the Morgan Family. As one of Luken's most prominent families, rivaling even the Valdemar Family, who would dare offend anyone from the Morgan Family? Especially Rebecca, the Morgan Family's most cherished daughter.
The staff member immediately bowed her head. "Yes, Ms. Morgan, my apologies. Thank you for reminding us. That was our mistake!"
She turned back to Violet with a formulaic smile. "Ms. Swift, the VIP suites are all booked. Would you accept a standard room?"
The smile was purely professional, practically suggesting that if she couldn't accept it, she should leave immediately.
The once-warm staff member had turned cold and sarcastic, her words cutting like ice.
Violet was stunned. She hadn't expected the staff member who had been so friendly moments ago to become so callous.
Violet took a deep breath, her brow furrowing. "Is this how your establishment treats customers?"
Rebecca was thoroughly satisfied with the situation. She simply snorted dismissively. "Ms. Swift, I think you're confused about your position here."
Violet's expression shifted slightly.
"How they treat customers versus how they treat valued clients—I'm sure they have their standards," Rebecca said, lifting her chin with an air of superiority. "After all, there's quite a difference between the Morgan Family's beloved daughter and a woman who's been cast aside by Rodolfo, Albert, and David in succession. Anyone with sense can tell which one matters more."
Violet's body went rigid, trembling uncontrollably.
Her throat felt blocked by a boulder. She bit her lip hard and walked away without looking back.
Rebecca watched her retreating figure with a cold laugh. "Serves her right."
