Chapter 448 Mr. Hayes, I Am Married and Have Two Children, Please Behave Yourself

Yvette nervously changed her clothes, her lips slightly pursed, and her expression conflicted.

She had just realized that this was Clifford's birthday party, and even more shockingly, that Clifford was the man she had spoken to outside the preschool last time.

No wonder she felt a sense of familiarity when she heard "Niamh's uncle."

Thinking about how Albert had been upset because she chatted with Clifford outside the preschool, Yvette felt a bit lost.

If she stayed at his birthday party and Albert found out, wouldn't it be hard to explain?

Just as Yvette was deep in thought, there was a knock on the door of the lounge.

"Mommy, are you ready? I need to go to the bathroom!"

CiCi's anxious voice came through, clearly unable to hold it any longer.

Yvette quickly opened the door and let CiCi in. "Come in, Mommy will take you."

When Yvette appeared, Clifford's eyes showed a hint of surprise.

She was wearing a simple long dress in a soft beige color, exuding a low-key elegance.

The dress's material was delicate with a slight sheen, making Yvette's skin look even more flawless.

The neckline was uniquely designed in a slight V-shape, revealing her elegant collarbones and elongating her neck.

The dress had no excessive decorations, just a simple belt at the waist, highlighting her graceful figure and impressive curves.

Clifford's gaze lingered on Yvette for a couple of seconds before he looked away.

Yvette awkwardly said, "Hi, could you please watch BoBo for a bit longer?"

"Sure thing," Clifford smiled. "I'll stay here with them while you go."

After taking care of CiCi's needs, Yvette took BoBo back from Clifford.

"Thanks a lot," Yvette said sincerely.

Clifford smiled. "No problem at all. Since you brought the kids to the Hayes family, I should make sure you all have a good time."

Yvette smiled, planning to have the kids say goodbye to Niamh and Clifford, but Niamh suddenly said, "BoBo, CiCi, do you want to go to my toy room? Even though it's my uncle's birthday, I got a lot of toy gifts too. Let's go open them together, okay?"

BoBo and CiCi's eyes lit up, looking up at Yvette expectantly. "Mommy, can we?"

Yvette sighed, "Didn't you say you wanted to say goodbye to Niamh?"

"But Niamh invited us to play," CiCi said with a mischievous smile. "Mommy, can we stay a bit longer and play before going home?"

"Yeah, they rarely get to meet outside of preschool. Since Niamh invited them, let them play," Clifford explained. "You can stay with them in the room or rest here if you prefer."

"No, Mommy," BoBo said seriously. "You've already done a lot bringing us here. Just rest. I'll take care of myself and CiCi and Niamh."

Clifford patted BoBo's head. "BoBo is quite the little gentleman."

"Alright then," Yvette smiled helplessly. "Mommy will wait here. Play for a bit and then we'll go home, okay?"

"Yay!"

With Yvette's permission, the three kids excitedly held hands and ran to Niamh's room.

The lounge was now just Yvette and Clifford, and she felt a bit awkward.

"Mr. Hayes, I'm sorry. I came because Ingrid invited us, saying Niamh wanted to play with the kids. I didn't prepare a birthday gift for you."

"No need to apologize," Clifford said. "It's less about my birthday and more about the Hayes family's social event. Don't worry about it. I'm glad you brought BoBo and CiCi."

Yvette didn't take his words too seriously, thinking he was just being polite. She smiled. "Since it's your birthday, you should go entertain your guests. I'll wait here for BoBo and CiCi and won't bother you."

"It's fine," Clifford shrugged. "I used Niamh as an excuse to avoid entertaining guests. Chatting with you here is a nice break."

Yvette felt a bit uneasy, suppressing her discomfort, and smiled without saying more.

This was Clifford's home, so Yvette couldn't ask him to leave. She could only hope BoBo and CiCi would finish playing soon so they could go home.

Clifford didn't seem to notice her discomfort and looked at her. "BoBo and CiCi are quite good-looking."

"Thank you," Yvette replied politely.

Clifford's gaze deepened. "They look more like their father."

Yvette's face stiffened slightly, but she nodded. "Yes, they resemble him more than me."

"And their personalities?" Clifford asked. "CiCi seems more like you. What about BoBo? Is your husband also a mature and thoughtful person?"

Yvette felt a bit annoyed at the mention of Albert. "Children have their own personalities. It's hard to say who they take after."

Sensing Yvette's unease and resistance, Clifford's gaze grew more intense. "Are you happy with your life now?"

Yvette's forced smile disappeared instantly. She felt Clifford's question was intrusive. This kind of social interaction was unacceptable to her.

She abruptly stood up from the lounge sofa and glanced at the clock on the wall. "Mr. Hayes, I have things to do at home. I'll take the kids and leave now. I'll go get them from Niamh's room."

Sensing Yvette's anger and intention to leave, Clifford quickly stood up. "Are you upset?"

Yvette pressed her lips together, not speaking, indicating her desire to leave.

"Sorry," Clifford's voice carried an apology. "I just felt a strong connection when I met you at the preschool, and couldn't help but wonder if you're doing well. That's why I asked like that."

Clifford tried to explain. "Maybe I was too impulsive, but I've never felt this way before. If I made you uncomfortable, I apologize."

Yvette looked at Clifford in surprise. She had thought Albert's suspicions were baseless, but Clifford's words revealed his true feelings.

Yvette lowered her voice, angry. "Mr. Hayes, I'm married with two children. Please respect that!"

"I'm sorry."

Clifford apologized, but Yvette had no patience left to listen.

With a stern face, she left the lounge, saying one last thing.

"Mr. Hayes, I'll pretend this never happened and hope it won't happen again."
