Chapter 72 Was Yvette Planning to Have an Abortion?

As soon as the clinic door opened, Yvette walked in as if nothing had happened.

Sylvia asked in confusion, "Why didn't you leave with your husband? I thought you weren't coming back."

Yvette pursed her lips and said nothing.

Sylvia leaned forward, closer to Yvette, and asked, "You two still haven't made up?"

Yvette blinked, her face still expressionless, and ambiguously replied, "He and I never really had that kind of marital relationship."

Hearing this, Sylvia couldn't help but walk up to her.

"For a long time, I've kept quiet because I know you rarely seek our opinions and are usually quite set in your own ideas. But your recent terrible state worries me." Sylvia comforted.

Sylvia was always straightforward, expressing her concern and worry directly.

To be honest, Yvette felt quite envious of her.

Seeing her concern, Yvette turned to comfort her, "I'm fine, don't worry."

Having been friends for many years, Sylvia naturally sensed Yvette's reluctance.

Sylvia knit her brows and voiced her concern, "Don't be rash. Avoid making decisions when you're emotionally charged. Now that you're expecting, your bond with Albert isn't as simple as breaking up after an argument. The baby ties you together, and that connection is permanent. Albert isn't the kind of man who would stand for his child being away from him, and I suspect you wouldn't be able to bear being separated from the baby you've carried for nine months either."

Sylvia was right. Albert, who was the kind of guy to clutch onto things he didn't even fancy, would definitely tighten his grip when it came to his own flesh and blood.

Yvette lowered her head, saying nothing, but Sylvia's words left her feeling conflicted.

Sylvia could tell she had struck a nerve with Yvette and let out a sigh.

"Knowing you, as long as Albert remains in your life, even after the divorce, you'll always be torn." She remarked.

Sylvia's eyebrows knitted together in empathy. She paused, then added, “It's time to face reality, Yvette. Accept your life with Albert. If you choose not to terminate the pregnancy, you'll never be able to completely sever ties with him.”

Sylvia's rapid and dense words gave Yvette a headache.

Seeing Sylvia getting more agitated and her words becoming more outrageous, Yvette quickly interrupted her.

"We're really fine, no fights. He just has a flight mission and couldn't leave with me."

Upon hearing this, Sylvia, previously emotional, instantly regained her composure. She let out a sigh of relief. "That's good."

Yvette nodded. "You should get back to work. Don't let this affect your job."

Watching Sylvia turn and leave the clinic, Yvette felt a bit disoriented.

Recalling Sylvia's words, although outrageous, they left Yvette deep in thought.

The next morning, Yvette was holding her hospital queue number, waiting in line at the OB-GYN.

She was focused on the details on the slip but was accidentally bumped by someone next to her.

Yvette looked up and saw a man carefully supporting his wife as they walked past her.

Looking back at the husbands accompanying their wives outside the OB-GYN clinic, all in pairs, anticipating the arrival of new life, Yvette smiled self-deprecatingly.

She was the only one alone.

Just as Yvette found a place to sit, her phone vibrated in her bag.

It was Sylvia.

Yvette answered the call.

"Where are you?" Sylvia asked.

"I'm at the hospital," Yvette said softly, "I have a prenatal checkup today and am waiting in line."

Sylvia responded and then asked, "Albert should be with you, right?"

Yvette pursed her lips, looking at the empty seat beside her. "Yes."

The OB-GYN called her number, and it was Yvette's turn. She hurriedly ended the call. Clutching the paper in her hand, she took a deep breath and walked into the clinic.

The doctor's office looked like any other, and Yvette didn't feel unfamiliar. She sat down and handed her checkup slip to the doctor.

The doctor carefully reviewed her previous checkup slip and asked, "It's not time for your prenatal checkup yet. Is something wrong?"

Yvette's face stiffened slightly, and she lightly bit her lower lip. She clenched her fists and remained silent for a moment.

When the doctor looked up at her in confusion, Yvette swallowed.

She gingerly asked the doctor, "If I don't want this child, can I have the procedure now?"

After an unpleasant encounter yesterday and a night's rest, Albert had calmed down significantly.

Getting easily angered wasn't his character.

Perhaps Yvette had been too obedient and compliant in the past, always restraining herself and listening to him. But recently, they had been having intense arguments.

Her sudden change and refusal to communicate made Albert suspect that if he ended the relationship with her, there would be no connection between them.

Before he had even figured out why he wanted to see Yvette, he was already outside her clinic.

Looking at the closed door, Albert mentally prepared himself. Today, no matter what, he wouldn't argue with Yvette again. They couldn't afford more misunderstandings.

Just as Albert was about to knock on Yvette's clinic door, he ran into Sylvia.

Sylvia looked at Albert in confusion. "Why are you here?"

Albert nodded. "I'm here to see Yvette."

"You're here to see Yvette?" Sylvia was puzzled. "Didn't you go with her for the prenatal checkup? Why are you here looking for her?"

Albert asked, "When did this happen?"

Sylvia replied, "Just now. I just finished talking to her on the phone."

Albert furrowed his brow, thinking, "Did she go for a prenatal checkup?"

He pondered, Isn't it not yet time for her prenatal checkup?'

Although Albert had never accompanied Yvette for a prenatal checkup, he vaguely remembered her mentioning it after the last one.

'Does Yvette need such frequent prenatal checkups recently? And why would she lie to Sylvia?'Albert thought.

"Which hospital is she at?" Albert asked. He didn't want to guess anymore and decided to go directly to the hospital to find Yvette.

"At the Civil Aviation General Hospital." Sylvia also frowned, feeling displeased with the couple's inexplicable behavior. She retorted directly, "Albert, you don't know which hospital your wife is having her checkups at? What's going on? Haven't you never been there?"

Albert frowned and straightened his lips.

Albert's reaction confirmed Sylvia's conclusion. Thinking of the grievances Yvette had suffered, Sylvia became angry. After all this time, he didn't even know where Yvette had her checkups.

Sylvia couldn't help but raise her voice. "What's going on with you? Yvette went for a prenatal checkup without asking you to join her, what was she up to??"

Sylvia's dissatisfied tone made Albert a bit unhappy, but it also instantly woke him up.

Their recent misunderstandings and arguments, Yvette's indifference and resistance, and today's checkup that wasn't even scheduled. All this information overwhelmed Albert.

He felt a tightness in his temples, and even his muscles tensed slightly.

A conclusion dawned on him.

He thought to himself, 'Was Yvette planning to have an abortion?'
