Chapter 221 Yvette, Please Keep Albert Company

"He just doesn't wanna go back there," Cheryl said urgently. "Don't say stuff like that."

David was caught off guard, and Yvette, standing nearby, was also surprised.

The vibe got awkward real quick. Yvette pulled out her phone and said, "I'll call him and see if he wants to come over."

Cheryl's attitude made Yvette feel the pressure.

Lately, she and Albert hadn't had much private contact. She wasn't even sure if Albert would pick up her call.

Sure enough, Albert didn't answer.

Pursing her lips and frowning a bit, Yvette said, "Cheryl, he didn't pick up."

Yvette looked down and continued, "Why don't you try calling him yourself?"

Cheryl gave Yvette a thoughtful look and then said to David, "Then you call him."

David didn't look too happy. He said, "He won't answer my call either."

Thinking about Albert's temper, Cheryl frowned and waved her hand dismissively. "Forget it. Don't bother."

Just then, David's phone rang. He looked apologetically at Cheryl and said, "Grandma, I need to take this. It's from the company, might be urgent."

"Go ahead," Cheryl said.

As David walked away, Cheryl turned to Yvette, her eyes probing.

After a moment, Cheryl asked, "I heard you and Albert were planning to divorce?"

"Yeah," Yvette admitted, knowing she couldn't hide it from Cheryl.

Even with her head down, Yvette could feel Cheryl's gaze. She was almost ready to lie when Cheryl just responded with a light acknowledgment.

"If you're gonna divorce, do it sooner rather than later," Cheryl said casually.

Yvette was taken aback, then said, "We're not divorcing."

At least not until she had Albert's child; she couldn't leave him yet.

Cheryl let out a cold laugh and said nothing more.

In the Valdemar Group's temporary office.

Albert had so much to handle that he found a temporary office to work in.

Percy was explaining the procedures to him one by one when Albert's phone suddenly rang.

The phone was face down on the table, and the sudden vibration annoyed Albert. Without looking at it, he pressed the lock button to hang up the call.

By the time Albert had sorted out the procedures and was about to pick up his phone, he realized the missed call was from Yvette.

The call had come in over ten minutes ago.

She had only called once, and when he didn't answer, she didn't call again.

Albert felt his heartbeat become irregular. He tightened his jaw and looked at Percy, asking, "If you hate someone and miss their call, would you call them back?"

Percy adjusted his glasses without changing his expression. "If I hate someone, I wouldn't care whether I called them back or not."

Albert's face changed slightly, then said, "I'm going to the restroom."

Percy nodded knowingly. "Very well. Please finish those procedures when you return. There's a deadline."

Albert frowned, suddenly finding Percy, who had always been easy to communicate with, quite annoying.

Albert walked out of the office and called back, his face blank.

Yvette picked up quickly.

"What do you want?" Albert asked coldly.

"Cheryl came to the house where she and Hayden used to live and asked me to contact you to see if you wanted to visit," Yvette said calmly, just passing on Cheryl's message.

Albert glanced at his watch. "How long are you staying?"

"Not sure yet, but we plan to head back to the Valdemar family before dinner," Yvette replied.

Albert thought about the stack of unfinished documents and was about to refuse, but then he remembered David's suggestion from that afternoon. He frowned and asked, "Did David take you there?"

Yvette hesitated before answering, "Yes."

Her hesitation darkened Albert's mood. "I'll be there right away," he said.

"Okay, I'll let Cheryl know you're coming."

Let Cheryl wait for him.

Albert let out a cold laugh. "Alright."

As Albert strode back to the office, he said, "This afternoon I..."

Before he could finish, he saw that Percy had already packed up all the documents and was standing at a distance with his briefcase.

Albert stopped mid-sentence.

Percy gave a formal smile and said, "I'll see you bright and early tomorrow, Mr. Valdemar."

Albert frowned, finding Percy even more annoying.

Yvette hung up the phone and returned to Cheryl's side.

Cheryl appeared calm, but her eyes couldn't hide their anticipation. "So? Did Albert call you back?" she asked.

"Yeah," Yvette nodded. "He said he's coming over right away."

"Alright. Then we'll wait for him," Cheryl said as she walked deeper into the backyard.

Yvette followed her, and soon they arrived under a tree.

Cheryl pointed to the ground beneath the tree. "Under this earth lie wish bottles that Albert and David buried when they were young. They were very close, probably because they were twins. They were inseparable, consulted each other on everything, and even liked the same things."

Yvette was taken aback and lowered her gaze, hiding her slightly emotional eyes, afraid that Cheryl would notice something.

Fortunately, Cheryl was lost in her memories and didn't notice Yvette's unusual expression.

Cheryl continued, "Later, some unpleasant things happened, and they were sent to the countryside, completely separated from us. Sarah was truly remarkable; regardless of our efforts, we couldn't find out where they were."

Yvette knew this part very well. She pursed her lips and listened quietly to Cheryl.

Cheryl went on, "Later, it was because Sarah returned to the Valdemar family that we found them. We tried everything to persuade Albert to come back, but he just wouldn't. Who knew things would turn out the way they did?"

Cheryl let out a long sigh, saying, "I'm always saddened that their relationship fell apart like that, and they could never stand together again. But that's how life is; we can't control everything, and we can't force them to reconcile. Yvette, I know you're not a bad kid. Please keep Albert company."
