Chapter 524 David, Hand Over Yvette!

Clifford's Hospital Room

Felix and Gabrielle sat by the bedside, their silence weighted with worry. Their gazes were fixed on the unconscious Clifford, as if trying to penetrate that veil of unconsciousness and purge the toxins ravaging his failing body.

Clifford lay pale against the sheets, his breathing shallow. His eyes remained tightly shut, lost in what seemed like a profound slumber, his breath faint yet steady as he battled against his illness.

Felix and Gabrielle gently stroked his hand, trying to summon him back with their love.

"Clifford, when will you wake up?" Gabrielle's voice trembled. "When will you open your eyes again and smile at me with that brightness? I miss the healthy you so much."

Looking at Clifford's colorless face, Gabrielle finally broke down. "Felix, why haven't we heard anything from the Swift Family? Didn't they promise to give us the medicine once we lifted Violet's ban?"

Felix's expression darkened as he exhaled heavily. "I just contacted them. The Swift Family claims they've been trying to reach us."

"But why haven't they after all this time? Are they..." Gabrielle's tears streamed down her face. "Are they deceiving us? Tricking us into lifting her ban and now refusing to provide the medicine? I knew we shouldn't have released Yvette so easily."

Just then, Felix's phone rang. Gabrielle's crying ceased abruptly as she looked at Felix expectantly. "Answer it, Felix!"

Felix quickly answered, putting it on speaker.

Before he could speak, Thaddeus's furious voice came through. "You dared to deceive us with false information! Do you realize Violet was nearly captured?"

Felix and Gabrielle exchanged shocked glances.

"That's impossible! We personally negotiated with Albert. Yvette was taken by him, and I heard him instruct his people to lift Ms. Swift's ban! Why would we lie to you?" Felix protested.

"Exactly, Mr. Swift!" Gabrielle's voice rose with urgency. "What would we gain by deceiving you? Our son's life is in your family's hands—we're completely committed to cooperating with you!"

"The ban was never lifted. Violet almost got caught!" Thaddeus insisted.

As Felix and Gabrielle struggled to comprehend this, Clifford's hospital room door burst open with a thunderous bang.

They looked up in terror to see Albert storming toward them.

"Mr. Valdemar is back?" they gasped in confusion.

Before they could fully process what was happening, Albert was upon them.

"Where have you hidden her? Hand her over!" Albert's voice was a low growl, his fists clenched as if ready to explode with rage. His gaze locked onto Felix and Gabrielle with such intensity and authority that they felt a chill run through them.

"We already gave her to you. Why are you looking for her with us?" Felix's voice was filled with genuine confusion.

"I'm warning you—don't lie to me," Albert said through gritted teeth.

Gabrielle stared at him in shock. "But we just gave you the key to your wife's room. How did you—"

Both suddenly realized something was terribly wrong. The man they'd seen earlier—supposedly David—had difficulty walking, yet had rushed in. And in such a short time, how could he have changed clothes?

Unless...

"Someone was here before me?" Albert's eyes flashed crimson as he demanded an answer.

"Yes," Gabrielle's voice quivered. "It was you—or we thought it was. Has your leg healed?"

That single sentence froze Albert in place. His breathing grew heavy, his chest rising and falling as he fought for control.

"You gave Yvette to him?" he asked, his voice dangerously quiet.

"Yes."

A darkness swept across Albert's eyes, a pain spreading through his chest like ice and fire.

He cursed under his breath and turned abruptly to leave.

Felix and Gabrielle exchanged terrified glances, both knowing they had made a catastrophic mistake.

Albert drove his sports car at breakneck speed, saying nothing. His fingers gripped the steering wheel like a vise, the accelerator pressed to the floor, far exceeding the speed limit.

Beside him, Vincent had been startled by such reckless driving countless times today, and though pale-faced, he could only endure in silence.

The car tore into the Valdemar Mansion's grounds. Albert slammed on the brakes, tires screeching against the pavement in protest.

Before the car had fully stopped, Albert had already leaped out, his eyes cold and resolute. Nothing would stand in his way.

The servants, hearing the commotion, rushed out to investigate. They recoiled at the sight of Albert's furious return—the deadly aura surrounding him made him seem like a demon incarnate.

Albert stormed into the Valdemar Mansion and immediately spotted David sitting calmly on the sofa, watching him with an air of nonchalance.

Albert strode toward him purposefully. Their eyes met in a clash that seemed to spark with enough tension to ignite the entire mansion.

"Albert, developing a fondness for coming home these days?" David raised an eyebrow.

Albert, his eyes glacial, ignored David's words completely. He lunged forward, grabbed David by the collar, and yanked him up from the sofa.

Without hesitation, Albert delivered a brutal punch to David's face.

The force of the blow was so powerful that everyone around them gasped.

One servant stepped forward to intervene, but froze mid-step when Albert's bloodthirsty gaze swept over him.

David, caught off guard, crashed heavily to the floor.

Albert showed no mercy. He advanced relentlessly, hauling David up again and raining blow after blow upon him.

"David, give Yvette back to me!" Albert's voice was a dangerous rumble. "Otherwise, I'll make you regret it."

David, dazed from the beating, eventually lifted his head, his eyes gleaming with defiance. "The children are with me. Yvette is with me. Our family of four is finally reunited. You should know better than to interfere."

This ignited Albert's fury anew. He grabbed David's collar and slammed him against the wall. "If you want to live, hand her over."

"What, you're going to kill your twin brother?" David let out a cold laugh. "Kill me, and the Valdemar Group will never forgive you. The law won't either. How could you possibly give Yvette and the children happiness then?"

David enunciated each word with deliberate precision. "Albert, you can't even protect the woman you love and her children. What use is the Valdemar Group to you?"
