Chapter 262 See You Next Tuesday at City Hall

Albert couldn't even wait for the elevator; he bolted up the stairs, taking three at a time.

He figured this was just another one of Cheryl and Yvette's pranks, but when he swung open the door, the empty room told a different story.

The place looked almost the same as when Yvette was there, except her bright yellow suitcase was missing.

That suitcase, the one that held all traces of Yvette at the Valdemar Villa, was gone.

"Yvette," Albert muttered, his voice rough, fists clenched.

But the big room was silent, just filled with suffocating air.

"Yvette!" Albert's voice got louder, laced with anger and urgency.

His jaw tightened, brows furrowed, as he searched the entire Valdemar Villa, but found nothing.

Had she really left?

He hadn't even had the chance to explain the truth to her yet. How could she just take off?

Albert's face darkened as he grabbed his phone to call Yvette, but she hung up on him.

Half a minute later, a message popped up from Yvette: [Don't contact me. See you at City Hall next Tuesday, on time.]

After leaving Valdemar Villa, Yvette, now without a place to stay, picked a nearby hotel and finally let out a sigh of relief.

She still had the money James had given her, enough to get by and have the baby.

Once she got the divorce papers and left Luken, she planned to stay far away from Albert.

Yvette didn't tell anyone she was at the hotel, but she couldn't resist her best friend Sylvia's constant badgering and ended up spilling the address.

Sylvia showed up quickly, giving Yvette a stern look as soon as she walked in.

"Yvette, do you still think of me as your bestie? Something this huge, and you didn't clue me in?" Sylvia griped.

"It happened so fast, I didn't know how to tell you," Yvette explained. "You're the only one who knows I'm here. If anyone asks, please keep it a secret."

"Who?" Sylvia asked, "Albert? Or your mom?"

Yvette pursed her lips. "Both."

Sylvia suggested, "Maybe you should change rooms, just in case I slip up."

Yvette sighed. "It's fine, I won't be here long."

"Why did you suddenly move out of the Valdemar Villa? Weren't things getting better between you two?"

"We're getting divorced. We're getting the papers next Tuesday," Yvette said calmly.

Sylvia was confused. "But you don't have to hide from Albert, do you?"

Yvette bit her lip and looked down, not ready to tell Sylvia about the pregnancy.

She lied. "My mom won't let me get divorced. Going back would just mean more fights, and I'm too tired for that."

"That's true." Sylvia sighed, stepping forward to hug Yvette. "If you need anything, just let me know."

The more Sylvia thought about it, the angrier she got. "I can't wrap my head around it. Albert, who came off as such a gentleman, could pull off something so terrible!"

Yvette shrugged nonchalantly. "That's all water under the bridge."

After quickly packing her things, Yvette went to a nearby supermarket to grab some essentials.

As she left the supermarket with her bags, Yvette got a call from Violet.

She was a bit surprised, but not entirely.

After a moment, Yvette answered the call.

Violet didn't waste any time. "Yvette, let's meet."

Yvette's mind flashed back to when Violet had smiled and asked Albert to divorce her and marry Violet. She clenched the bag in her hand, the plastic making a harsh noise that snapped her back to reality.

"There's no need," Yvette said coldly. "We have no reason to meet."

"Of course we do." Violet chuckled. "Your mom keeps coming to the office to find me. We need to talk. Otherwise, things will get messy for everyone, right?"

Yvette frowned and finally gave the address of a nearby café. "I'll wait for you in fifteen minutes."

A heavy rain was coming, and the low-hanging clouds over Luken made the air feel hot and suffocating.

Violet sat down in front of Yvette, who finally shifted her gaze from the gray sky outside the floor-to-ceiling window to Violet.

"Long time no see, Yvette," Violet said with a smile.

Yvette couldn't be bothered with pleasantries and lifted her eyelids slightly. "What do you want?"

Violet raised an eyebrow in surprise. She called the waiter to order a coffee before leisurely saying, "I'm here to talk about your divorce with Albert."

Upon hearing Violet's words, Yvette took it in stride. She gazed at her with composure. "What's next?"

Violet was surprised by Yvette's calmness. She paused. "Since Albert has asked for a divorce, I hope you can follow through and get the divorce certificate as soon as possible."

Yvette replied, "I've already agreed to the divorce with Albert, and we've scheduled to get the certificate next Tuesday at City Hall. Once we have it, you can proceed with your plans."

"So you already know we're getting married." Violet chuckled. "That's good. Since you know, I hope you'll be there on time and not try to prolong this marriage by avoiding it."

Yvette frowned, momentarily doubting her ears. "Avoiding?"

Violet said, "You left the Valdemar Villa and hid, didn't you? Aren't you afraid Albert will force you to get the divorce certificate?"

Violet remained calm, but Yvette saw urgency in her eyes.

Yvette took a sip of water and asked casually, "Are you in a rush? Does Albert even know about this?"

"I'm not in too much of a hurry; Albert is," Violet said with a hint of disdain. "After all, being married to someone he doesn't love for so long, it's normal to be eager for a divorce, right? If you really care about him, you should let go sooner for everyone's sake."

Married to someone he didn't love.

Violet knew how to hit her weakest spot, but Yvette had long accepted this reality.

Yvette's eyes grew colder, but her smile deepened. "Really? It seems men can enjoy and be very involved in making love with someone they don't love, and they never call out the wrong name."

Violet's smile froze, as if she had heard something terrible. "What did you say?"

"Sorry, I forgot. You might not know what he's like in bed," Yvette said apologetically. ""But from the way he's been acting lately, I'm not sure how keen he is on the divorce, but he's definitely eager to get intimate with me."

Violet's face darkened. She opened her mouth, "Yvette, how can you be so shameless?"
