Chapter 240 Albert Doesn't Want Yvette to Have His Child
Back in the room, Yvette's back and shoulders were starting to ache from sitting up so straight.
She stepped into the bathroom, and the warm water from the showerhead poured over her, finally letting her relax a bit.
As she walked out, lost in her thoughts and drying her hair with her head down, she bumped right into Albert, who was just about to come in.
Startled, Yvette instinctively took a step back, but the slippery bathroom floor made her lose her balance.
Albert quickly reached out and grabbed her by the waist, keeping her from falling.
The moment turned awkward, but Albert's serious expression and furrowed brows snapped Yvette back to reality.
She quickly stood up straight, pulling away from his strong arms and adjusting her nightgown.
Albert had just walked in when Yvette bumped into him, and the steamy bathroom stirred a subtle sense of arousal within him. Before he could say anything, Yvette had already spoken. "Why are you back?"
Her words echoed David's.
Albert's brows knitted together, his tone icy. "Do I need to check in with you every time I step foot in my own damn house"
Yvette paused, deciding not to explain, just pressing her lips together.
She noticed Albert was holding a towel too, and her heart sank. 'Was he planning to stay at the Valdemar family tonight?'
She wanted to ask but didn't want to embarrass herself.
Albert was right; this was the Valdemar family, and he didn't need anyone's permission to come back.
Yvette stepped aside, letting Albert pass.
After his shower, Albert came out wrapped in a towel, not caring that Yvette was already sitting on the bed, and lay down directly.
The mattress sank and rebounded with a distinct weight, unlike when Yvette was alone.
Albert's body carried the same scent as hers, making the atmosphere instantly tense.
Without the haze of alcohol, sharing a bed with Albert made Yvette a bit uneasy.
Lying flat on the bed, Yvette stared at the white ceiling, trying to stay calm, but hearing his close breathing, her hands nervously clasped together.
Yvette blinked and cautiously spoke, trying to break the tension. "Are you planning to stay at the Valdemar family from now on?"
Albert didn't even turn his head. "No."
Still cold, firm, and decisive.
Yvette lowered her eyes. "I thought you were planning to stay."
Hearing this, a trace of displeasure flashed in Albert's eyes.
He suddenly turned over, propping himself above her with one hand and gripping her chin, forcing her to look at him.
Yvette winced in pain, letting out a cry. "What are you doing?"
His eyes were filled with sarcasm. "So eager for me to come back? Can't wait to get pregnant? Let me guess, you and James and Lisa are tight, they must have thrown some cash your way, am I right?"
Yvette was stunned.
Had Albert heard her conversation with James?
She didn't know where he had started listening or how much he had heard. Her eyes showed a hint of panic.
"No..."
Yvette was about to explain when Albert impatiently interrupted her. "Yvette."
Albert looked at her coldly, not wanting to hear any of her excuses. "No matter how much money you got from James for Lassie, I will never allow my child to be tainted by your inferior genes."
Yvette's eyes darkened. She turned her face, trying to escape his grip.
She spoke softly, "Then let go of me."
The touch disappeared, but Albert's handsome brows furrowed slightly. He reached out again to grab her chin, forcing her to face him.
Yvette had just finished her shower not long ago, and the faint fragrance on her body had already stirred Albert's desire.
Rubbing her lips with his thumb, Albert pressed his lips down, kissing her.
Yvette immediately put her hand between them, anxiously saying, "Didn't you say you didn't want me to taint your genes? Why do you still want to have sex with me?"
Albert sneered, "Does having sex necessarily mean having a child?"
Albert's tone was mocking, and Yvette didn't even know how to resist.
Yes, Albert had prepared long-term contraceptives for her, which would prevent her from getting pregnant.
He had already thought it through; she was merely overthinking it. He was just using her to satisfy his desires.
Albert didn't give her any more chances to resist, nor was there any tenderness.
Yvette's muscles tensed, and she gasped, "Ouch!"
Albert looked at her coldly, without a trace of pity, and said in her ear, "Yvette, this is your duty."
Yvette bit her lower lip, her hands clenched tightly.
It really hurt, but she had to endure it.
The pain and humiliation were much clearer when she was sober than when she was drunk that day.
Yvette curled up in the blanket, like a fish washed ashore, dry, in pain, and weak, without even the strength to lift a finger.
She lowered her eyelids, looking emptily and wearily at Albert in front of her.
He had already finished his shower, expressionlessly picking up a set of clean clothes and putting them on, even tying a tie that matched his shirt.
In sharp contrast to Yvette's exhaustion, he had completely regained his composure, appearing indifferent, as if nothing had happened.
After changing his clothes, Albert raised his hand to adjust his cufflinks and called out expressionlessly, "Vincent."
Vincent's voice came from the door, "Yes, Mr. Valdemar."
Hearing Vincent's voice outside, Yvette was stunned.
Had Vincent been waiting outside the whole time? Could he have heard the sounds from the room?
Yvette's sense of humiliation intensified.
Albert left the room, with Vincent following him.
As the door opened, Vincent didn't dare to look around, but Albert quickly walked out.
Vincent stared at Albert's heels, uttering cautiously, "Mr. Valdemar, I've prepared the documents for you. Do you plan to review them here or go back to the office?"
"Back to the office." Albert glanced at Vincent and asked in a voice loud enough for Yvette to hear, "Did you give her the contraceptives?"
Vincent paused and replied, "Yes."
Albert said, "I see."
"Mr. Valdemar." Vincent hesitated and then tentatively said to Albert, "She's gotta take these daily. Whether she does it or not is up to your wife."
Albert naturally understood his meaning.
Yvette had the contraceptives, but their effectiveness relied on her compliance. If she chose otherwise, the risk of her becoming pregnant loomed large, potentially undoing his recent precautions.
Albert showed no sign of panic, responding calmly and indifferently, "The medication has been given. If she ends up pregnant with an unwanted child, then it will be aborted."
