Chapter 74 Marital Duties
Albert's domineering attitude made Yvette angry as well. Even someone as mild-tempered as her was infuriated by him.
Yvette clenched her fists tightly, glaring at Albert defiantly.
"Albert, let me educate you on something: men don't have reproductive rights, only women do," Yvette said with a tense expression. "I have the right to decide what happens to my body."
Her voice was gentle yet firm, but to Albert, it sounded discomforting.
Albert's lips were tightly pressed, his jawline taut. He looked down at her, emotions swirling in his eyes.
"Yvette, have you made up your mind that you don't want this baby, is that the case?"
His voice was low and gravelly, and even though his question sounded cool and collected, it packed a punch that hit Yvette right in the heart.
Yvette instinctively raised her hand to protect her belly.
She pondered, 'Not want this child?'
Yvette had asked herself this question many times while at the hospital. The more she asked, the clearer her heart became.
She regretted it. The idea of terminating the life within her made her breath hitch in her throat.
If it weren't for running into Wyatt and Albert, she would have already left the hospital.
She had nothing else, and this child was her whole world.
No matter how much Albert disliked her, and no matter how tough her life would be, she wanted this child.
Albert stood there quietly, his hands unconsciously clenched into fists. He stood for so long that he felt his bones stiffen.
Yvette didn't answer him, biting her lip, implicitly confirming Albert's question.
Albert let out a cold, mocking laugh, his gaze at Yvette filled with scrutiny and malice.
His lips moved, seemingly against his will, and he posed the question again, "Yvette, you need to comprehend this. Without this child, you get nothing from me. I'll ask you one last time, are you sure you don't want this child?"
Albert's words were clearly giving Yvette one last chance.
He was telling her this was her last opportunity to trade the child for what she wanted.
Yvette was visibly stunned, shocked that Albert still thought she was a woman trying to use the child to gain benefits from him.
An indescribable sense of irony and shame made her lips, pressed into a line, droop slightly.
She nodded self-deprecatingly. "Yes, because I don't want to be entangled with you anymore."
The atmosphere between them instantly froze.
Albert's expression stiffened for a moment, his eyes darkening.
Yvette's words echoed in his mind, 'She doesn't want to be entangled with me anymore.'
He pondered, 'She really want to break off our relationship. And then what? Would she run to that male doctor? That male doctor is even willing to accept her and another man's child. As a woman, she must be very tempted, right?'
Thinking this way, an uncontrollable irritation mixed with anger made him grit his teeth as he looked at her, warningly repeating her name on his tongue.
"Yvette!" Albert exclaimed in an exasperated voice.
Yvette avoided his gaze, lowering her eyes. Just as she was about to counter with silence, her phone rang.
Realizing that continuing this pointless conversation would only increase dissatisfaction, Yvette exhaled slowly and gave Albert a calm look.
She replied calmly, "Since we have reached an agreement, I'll go home now."
As she spoke, Yvette stood up and reached for her phone. Turning around, she didn't notice Albert's face darkening, his aura becoming ominously cold.
Yvette glanced at the caller ID, seeing Wyatt's name.
She casually answered Wyatt's call.
Wyatt's voice came through with concern. "Are you okay, Yvette?"
"I'm fine." Yvette's throat was dry. She said she was fine, but given the current situation, she felt quite helpless.
Yvette bit her lip and cautiously asked, "Can you come pick me up?"
These few understated words, without any intimate language, instantly infuriated the man who was already on the verge of exploding.
Before Yvette could hear Wyatt's response, she felt a warm hand grasp her wrist. Turning around, she met Albert's dark, bloodshot eyes.
Albert couldn't tolerate Yvette urgently running to another man from his side once again. He mercilessly gripped her slender wrist and pulled her into his arms.
Yvette crashed into Albert's solid chest, but he wasn't satisfied with just that. He raised her delicate chin, forcing her to look up at him.
Albert lowered his head and aggressively captured Yvette's soft lips, venting his frustration with gentle bites.
Yvette suddenly fell silent, and Wyatt's confused voice came through the receiver. "Yvette, you haven't given me the address."
Unable to push Albert away with one hand and fearing Wyatt might hear something inappropriate, Yvette quickly hung up the phone.
As soon as the call ended, Albert pressed down on her even harder. Feeling the increasing force on her lips, Yvette gasped in pain, prompting Albert to ease up slightly.
Finally able to catch her breath, Yvette angrily yelled, "Albert! Are you crazy?"
Seeing that Yvette still had the strength to curse him, Albert's lips curved into a vengeful smile. He crossed her obstructive hands behind her back, his lips and teeth mercilessly plundering hers.
Yvette's heart raced, her dissatisfaction peaking. She struggled fiercely, which only angered Albert more. He picked her up and swiftly carried her to a private bedroom.
He threw her onto the bed, and she sank into the soft mattress, unprepared.
He continued kissing her, his hands moving from her waist to the fabric constraining her chest, tearing it off like a violent gift unwrapping, devoid of any tenderness.
Yvette didn't expect to be treated the same way twice at his house. She couldn't help but feel a tinge of fear towards the cold mansion.
She raised her arms to create a barrier between them, making a final, futile resistance.
Albert effortlessly pinned her arms down.
"I may not have the right to decide what happens to your body, but let me educate you on something else—you are my wife, and you have a duty to fulfill marital obligations," said Albert, in earnest.
