Chapter 392 Why didn't you save me and the child back then?
Albert's voice was hoarse and cold, devoid of warmth, making Yvette's scalp tingle. She didn't need to turn around to feel his sinister eyes staring intently at her.
He exuded a thick aura of danger, and Yvette's heart felt as if it was being tightly gripped, causing a faint pain.
Yvette's face was as pale as paper, her eyes slightly downcast. "Didn't you see it?"
Yvette's voice was light and airy. She didn't explain because what Albert saw was the truth: she was taking long-term birth control pills.
Faced with Yvette's unarguable admission, Albert's aura dropped to freezing point. He let out a cold laugh and threw the small pill bottle into the trash can.
The sound of the bottle hitting the trash can was particularly harsh in the silent night.
Yvette blinked, hesitated for a few seconds, but didn't retrieve the bottle from the trash can in front of Albert.
Although Yvette didn't want another child with Albert for the time being, she could always buy more pills.
Albert's deep eyes narrowed dangerously, his gaze sharp as he looked at Yvette.
He questioned, "Why are you taking birth control pills?"
Yvette answered, "Taking birth control pills is obviously for contraception, not for health benefits."
Albert frowned slightly. "You know what I mean."
"I don't know." Yvette turned her head away, no longer looking at him.
Albert coldly curled his lips, his eyes carrying a hint of absurdity. "You don't know? Then I'll make it clear."
He walked up to Yvette and tightly gripped her shoulders.
Yvette winced in pain and couldn't help but squirm. "Let go of me, it hurts!"
Albert ignored her complaint and slowly said, "I'm asking you, why don't you want to have children with me?"
Yvette pressed her lips together, unable to think about these things in her current situation. Legally, Albert was indeed her husband.
But there were too many things between them that couldn't be resolved with a simple "starting over."
At least, she had no idea where to begin.
Albert's deep eyes seemed to almost draw her in. "In your heart, what is our relationship? Do you still consider me your husband?"
Yvette frowned slightly, forced to meet his gaze and respond, "In the past, when you didn't want to be my husband, I got pregnant, making you my husband. We've never been like ordinary couples, loving each other, in sync, deciding to spend our lives together."
Albert seemed taken aback by her words.
Yvette slowly spoke, her eyes filled with indescribable emotions, "Between us, there's David, two children, the Valdemar Family, and your grandmother. Having a child now would only complicate things further, wouldn't it?"
Albert's lips curled into a cold smile. "To me, all you're doing is making excuses. When you had children with David, why didn't you think so much?"
Albert's words, to Yvette, were just using BoBo and CiCi as an excuse to force her to have another child.
But it was clearly him who didn't believe these two children were his.
Yvette stared into those deep, unfathomable eyes. "So, you never really accepted these two children. You don't treat them as your own, do you?"
"Yvette, you're being unreasonable and twisting the facts!" Albert's voice was hoarse. "I'm talking about your feelings for me!"
Yvette said, "I'm also talking about your feelings for me."
Albert took a deep breath, suppressing his emotions.
He looked at Yvette's beautiful eyes, slightly glistening with tears, and felt a moment of softness.
But Yvette's attitude and actions were driving him crazy.
Albert slowly stood up straight, releasing his grip on Yvette's shoulders. "I'm not forcing you to have our child. It's just that this made me realize you don't truly want to come back to me."
He looked down at her. "Do you know? Whether it's the Valdemar Family, my grandmother, or anyone else, I don't care about what they say. In my heart, I've chosen you, and that's it."
"You've really chosen me? Then why didn't you choose me back then? Why did you choose Violet?" Yvette swallowed, her throat dry and painful as if scratched by sand. "Albert, your love changes. I don't feel secure with you."
He murmured, "I..."
Albert had just started to speak when Yvette interrupted him. "But don't worry, I won't leave either. When I realized you might die, I knew I couldn't just walk away. I've left my heart with the past Albert."
Yvette's lips pressed into a faint, bitter smile. "The only promise I can give you is this. I hope you can give me some time to readjust to this life and become the Yvette you want."
Albert thought Yvette's so-called choice referred to when he lost his memory and was with Violet for so many years.
He frowned tightly and explained to Yvette, "I didn't choose Violet. Violet pretended to be you and came to my side. From beginning to end, I've always chosen you!"
Albert's words sounded like a huge joke to Yvette.
With just a few light words, he wanted to erase the harm caused by the kidnapping incident?
Yvette let out a cold laugh. "Really? Then why didn't you save me and the children back then?"
Albert was stunned, doubting his ears. "What?"
Yvette's lips moved, about to speak, when the door suddenly opened.
CiCi ran in crying with open arms, followed by a sullen BoBo.
CiCi cried as she threw herself into Yvette's arms. "Mommy! Why don't you want me and BoBo again..."
CiCi's heart-wrenching cries made Yvette's heart ache instantly.
Yvette reached out to CiCi, but Albert pulled her back. "What are you talking about? Explain! What do you mean I didn't save you and the children?"
Yvette's focus was on the crying CiCi. She squatted down and hugged CiCi and BoBo tightly.
Albert said, "Yvette! You..."
Yvette covered the children's ears with her hands and looked back at Albert with dissatisfaction.
"Can you not argue in front of the children? Don't scare them!" Yvette's eyes brightened slightly, as if she had made a decision. "This matter is no longer important. I've accepted it. I'll try to become the wife you want as soon as possible."
