Chapter 129 Is he acting?

Albert stood on stage next to the host, tall with slightly raised eyebrows that gave him a noble look, yet he fit right in. His slight smile made him seem approachable. The stage lights made him glow a bit.

Friends and family cheered below, and the host was excited too.

"Handsome, you’re lucky! Are you with the bride or groom?" the host asked, handing Albert the mic.

"I'm the bride's cousin's husband," Albert replied.

The crowd cheered again.

The host joked, "For a second, I thought I was interviewing a celebrity. Why didn’t you bring your wife up here too?"

Albert's gaze found Yvette in the crowd. "She's pregnant, so it's not convenient."

"Congrats to you both!" the host smiled. "So, you caught the doll for your wife, right?"

"Yes," Albert said, his deep voice filling the hall.

Yvette stared at him, barely hearing his words, feeling drawn to his eyes. Watching Albert chat naturally with the host, Yvette's heart raced. She was surprised—was this really Albert?

Amid the cheers, Albert walked off stage with the delicate doll. He did so well that even skeptical relatives were now praising him.

"Your son-in-law is amazing! He made you proud today!"

"Yes, Yvette is so lucky. Lassie, you really have good fortune!"

Lassie couldn't stop smiling. "Of course, I've always said Yvette is very fortunate!"

Listening to their chatter, Yvette felt a bit awkward. She bit her lip and quietly asked Albert, "Why did you come?"

Albert handed her the doll. "Mom asked me to."

He called Lassie "Mom" so naturally that Yvette felt a bit confused.

Yvette awkwardly looked away and softly said, "Okay."

After the wedding, Yvette went to the restroom. When she came out, Lassie was gone. Yvette saw Albert holding her bag nearby and walked over.

"Where did my mom go?" Yvette asked, taking her bag.

"She took Kyle and your relatives out to have fun."

Yvette sighed, "Alright then."

"Let's go," Albert said.

Yvette shook her head. "You don’t need to take me home. You've done enough today. I can go back myself."

Albert seemed to expect her refusal. "Mom asked me to take you home and made sure I take you upstairs."

Hearing "take you upstairs," Yvette knew these were Lassie's words. She always insisted David take her upstairs, so it wasn't surprising she'd ask Albert to do the same.

Yvette bit her lip. "But I need to go to the mall first."

"Let's go," Albert said.

The hotel was next to a large shopping area, and Yvette led Albert to the fifth floor. The fifth floor was all maternity and baby products. Albert, in his suit, followed Yvette, making her feel a bit awkward.

Yvette's belly had started to show recently, so she decided to buy maternity pants today. She walked into a store to pick out some pants but kept glancing at Albert outside. He didn't seem uncomfortable at all, standing there relaxed, waiting for her. Though Yvette felt uneasy, she also felt a strange warmth in her heart. Albert seemed different, and there was something different between them too. That subtle change made Yvette smile.

"Thanks for paying," Yvette said cautiously as Albert completed the transaction and held the shopping bag.

"You're carrying my child. It's the least I can do," Albert replied, his deep voice soothing.

"Let me carry it. You're already holding my handbag. The paper bag isn't heavy; I can manage," Yvette said, reaching for the bag. But as soon as she reached out, Albert held her hand tightly.

Yvette looked down at their intertwined hands, feeling a surge of emotion and her heart racing.

"Albert?" a surprised female voice interrupted. Yvette turned and saw one of Albert's high school classmates. She instinctively tried to pull her hand away, but Albert interlocked his fingers with hers. Their fingers were tightly intertwined.

Albert nodded slightly. "Long time no see."

The classmate looked surprised. "I can't believe I ran into you here. Who is this?"

Yvette lowered her eyes, feeling awkward. She wasn't used to such probing looks.

Albert glanced at Yvette and said, "This is my wife, Yvette."

Yvette looked up, meeting Albert's gentle gaze, her heart tightening. Albert wasn't very enthusiastic, and after the introduction, the conversation with his classmate didn't go further. The classmate noticed and found an excuse to leave.

As the person walked away, Yvette said, "Don't hold my hand so casually. It's weird."

Albert replied, "I'm afraid you might fall." His eyes were sincere, as if he really cared about her. If it was an act, his acting skills were too good. Yvette felt complicated.

David sat at his desk, looking serious. Two minutes ago, he had received a call from James, urging him to quickly find Yvette and handle her divorce with Albert. David looked at the divorce agreement in front of him, having read through the terms. James wasn't too unreasonable; nothing essential was missing.

David took several deep breaths, furrowed his brows, and dialed Yvette's number. On the other end, Yvette seemed in a good mood. "David, what's up?"

David blinked, staring at the "Divorce Agreement" on the document, and said softly, "When do you have time? I have something to give you."
