Chapter 266 Where is Yvette?
With Peter's help, the barely conscious Violet managed a weak, but happy smile.
Using all her strength, she whispered, "Did Albert really drop ten million bucks to save me?"
"Absolutely!" Peter sighed. "Who would've thought a rich heir would love his wife this much? You're really lucky. Unlike that ex-girlfriend of his, he wouldn't even give her four hundred grand."
Violet was stunned, lowering her head as the pain in her heart overshadowed the physical pain from the beating.
Tears mixed with blood fell, and her swollen eyes were filled with hatred.
Following the location info given by the kidnappers, Albert led a group of people to the site.
The ride was rough, and while Albert's face stayed calm, the storm brewing in his eyes made everyone in the car too scared to breathe.
As night fell, Albert looked at the row of rundown factories in the desolate countryside, thinking of Yvette suffering inside, his eyes turned red.
Giving Austin a signal, Albert took Vincent and walked into the factory Patrick had mentioned.
Immediately, someone at the door stopped them. "Why so many people?"
Patrick's laughter came from inside the factory. "Exactly, how can our small factory accommodate so many people? Mr. Valdemar, you come in alone."
His words were polite, but his tone was threatening.
Albert's gaze was icy, his sharp and ruthless eyes fixed on Patrick's face.
Patrick, usually ruthless in his actions, felt a pang of guilt under that gaze.
Albert looked at Patrick, his voice cold and hard. "I can't bring in the money you want by myself."
At the mere mention of money, Patrick paused briefly, then gestured to the two guys by the entrance, motioning for them to usher Albert and Vincent inside.
Vincent lugged in the suitcases, one by one, popping them open to reveal the cash to Patrick. "Here's your money."
Patrick's eyes lit up, and under the light bulb hanging from the ceiling, the money in the suitcases seemed to glow.
He licked his lips. "Don't worry, you kept your word, and I won't break mine. I've already sent someone to bring your wife."
Albert's jaw tightened, his fists clenched, struggling to contain his murderous rage.
He kept reassuring himself inwardly, 'Just a little longer, and I would see Yvette.'
Patrick thought for a moment and added, "But you can't take your ex-girlfriend with you."
Before he could finish, Albert impatiently replied, "I know."
He only wanted Yvette.
A look of surprise flashed in Patrick's eyes.
At that moment, a rickety wooden door behind Patrick was pushed open.
The door, old and in disrepair, had its chain fall to the ground with a crisp sound when lightly pushed.
Albert's heart tightened, his eyes fixed on the shaky door, wishing he could rush over in the next second.
The door opened, and Peter appeared, supporting a hooded Violet.
The scene was like a heavy blow, hitting Albert's eyes hard. Violet's steps were unsteady, barely able to stand on her own. Though her face was obscured by the black hood, blood dripped with every step she took, a horrifying sight.
It was unimaginable how terrible Violet's condition was under the hood.
Albert's body swayed for a moment, instantly recognizing Yvette's red coat.
A few days ago, he had accidentally fallen asleep in the study, and when he woke up, he found this coat covering him.
A chilling, terrifying light burst from Albert's cold, aloof eyes as he looked at Patrick. "Is this what you meant by not harming my wife?"
Saying this, Albert immediately rushed towards "Yvette," but was stopped by several kidnappers.
Patrick looked puzzled. He hadn't ordered anyone to harm Yvette, even fearing that injuring her would prevent them from getting the money, so he had her hands and feet untied.
Not knowing what his subordinates had done, Patrick swallowed hard. "Mr. Valdemar, we haven't even finished counting the money, and you're already preparing to take her away?"
In the large factory, there were only Albert and Vincent, but there were another kidnappers. Albert was stopped, and the dim light from the bulb cast a shadow over his face. His eyes were bloodshot, but he dared not move.
Yvette was still in their hands, and he feared that any movement would cause her more pain.
In a hoarse voice, gritting his teeth, he said, "Then hurry up!"
The kidnappers swarmed over and began counting the money.
"Yvette" collapsed to the ground, head bowed, blood still dripping from the bottom of the black hood.
Albert stared at the dripping blood, his eyes nearly popping out, struggling to suppress the urge to burn these people alive.
At that moment, a voice came through the miniature earpiece in his ear.
"Mr. Valdemar, everyone is ready, waiting for your order."
Albert lowered his eyes, touched his earlobe, and responded.
"Alright," Bradley, who was counting the money, said excitedly, arranging the money neatly in the suitcase and closing it.
Albert's hoarse voice was cold. "Release her."
Peter helped "Yvette" up from the ground and handed her to Albert.
In that instant, Albert tapped lightly behind his ear. Austin and a group of people immediately broke in from outside.
Patrick and his men were stunned, and before they could react, they were subdued by Albert's people.
"Don't move!"
"Kneel down!"
Albert grabbed "Yvette," lifted the hood, and was shocked by the bloody face underneath.
It was Violet?
Violet, beaten to the brink of death, squinted in pain, her unrecognizable face pleading for help.
Albert panicked instantly, his brows furrowing as he pushed Violet into Vincent's arms.
He strode over to Patrick, yanked off his hood, grabbed his hair, and punched him hard in the face. "You tricked me?"
Patrick was stunned by the punch, struggling to look up at Violet in Vincent's arms.
Seeing clearly, Patrick was shocked. "This isn't right!"
He turned to Peter, gritting his teeth in anger. "Who did you capture? I told you to release Yvette!"
Peter blinked, confused. "Wasn't it the one in the red coat?"
Patrick spat blood at Peter, cursing, "Are you stupid? Not this one! You released the wrong person!"
Albert cursed under his breath, his face fierce as he kicked Patrick hard.
Watching Patrick wail in pain, Albert shouted, "If she's harmed in any way, I'll make sure every single one of you pays for it!"
