Chapter 285 Reunion
At Luken Airport's service desk, Yvette walked up to find a crowd gawking at someone lying on the ground, but no one was stepping in to help.
Only an airport staff member was half-kneeling, trying to wake the person up.
Yvette immediately crouched down like she'd done this a million times before and started unbuttoning the patient's clothes for a quick check.
While she was checking the patient, she said, "Hey, everyone, back up a bit. We need some air here so they can breathe."
Seeing how professional Yvette was, the staff member got up to help her and started moving the crowd back.
Yvette not only checked the patient's pulse and breathing but also examined their organ responses with such skill that it even surprised her.
Realizing the patient's pulse and breathing were super weak, Yvette jumped into CPR mode.
After a few rounds of CPR, Yvette was getting tired. She wiped her sweat and said to the staff member, "Come on, take over for a bit."
She knew the staff had some training but had probably panicked, so she showed her the right way to do CPR.
Soon enough, the patient finally came around.
Breathing heavily, the patient started to get some color back. "Thank you, you saved my life!"
"No problem, I'm just glad you're okay." Watching the staff put the patient on a stretcher, Yvette patted his shoulder. "The emergency team will take you to the hospital for a full check-up. Don't worry, they'll take good care of you."
"Okay, thanks!" The patient, gripping Yvette's hand, asked, "Which hospital are you from? When I get better, I want to thank you properly."
People nearby chimed in, "This doctor is amazing. You can tell she's a pro!"
Yvette was momentarily stunned and a bit embarrassed; she wasn't a doctor, but a project manager at a company. But with a CPR/AED certification, she just felt she had to help. Her actions were pure instinct.
Yvette replied, "Thanks, but that's really not necessary."
The patient asked, "At least tell me your name?"
Yvette answered, "Jessica."
As the patient was wheeled away, the crowd looked at Yvette with admiration. She lowered her gaze, feeling a bit lost; her amnesia made it hard to remember her past.
But just now, when she heard someone had fainted, everything she did was almost automatic.
Except for CPR, which she had learned at work, all the other checks were done by muscle memory. She didn't even know why she could do them so well or why she knew all those professional terms to teach the staff.
Yvette blinked, feeling a hollow ache in her chest.
What did she used to do?
Who was she?
Yvette was deep in thought but suddenly remembered she had left Lester and Christina behind.
"Oh no!"
Yvette started sprinting back, glancing at the time. It had been over ten minutes; Lester and Christina must be freaking out!
She picked up the pace, but when she got back to the spot, they were gone.
Panic surged through her. She clearly remembered leaving Lester and Christina right there.
She frantically looked around but saw no sign of them or their suitcase and backpack. They were too young to carry all that stuff on their own.
An adult must have taken them.
Her heart skipped a beat.
She was both panicked and terrified, with all sorts of horrible thoughts flooding her mind, almost drowning her in guilt.
Then she thought, 'Phone!'
Yvette suddenly remembered her phone was in her bag. Just as she was about to borrow a phone from a passerby, the airport's PA system announced:
"Good afternoon, passengers. We have a missing person announcement: Would the mother of Lester and Christina please come to the VIP lounge at the service center? Thank you!"
Yvette's tense body instantly relaxed, nearly collapsing as she realized she was drenched in sweat, her palms clammy.
If anything had happened to Lester and Christina, it would have been her fault!
She didn't waste another second and hurried to the VIP lounge at the service center.
When Yvette rushed to the VIP lounge, Lester and Christina ran to her.
"Mommy!"
Yvette quickly hugged them tightly, her voice trembling with emotion. "I'm really sorry for leaving you in that big crowd. I won't do it again."
Lester patted Yvette's head. "Mommy, you went to save someone, you should go. I'll take care of myself and CiCi."
Yvette's eyes reddened, almost crying. "Thank goodness you're okay."
Christina smiled and said, "Mommy, it was the man we met at the hotel last time. He's a nice person. He brought us here and said we could wait for you."
Lester nodded and whispered in Yvette's ear, "But, Mommy, he asked me your name. You said not to reveal important information to strangers, so I didn't tell him!"
Yvette gratefully patted Lester and Christina's heads. "You both did great. Did you thank the person who helped you?"
"We did!" Christina pointed behind Yvette and said loudly, "Mommy, this is the person I said looks like Daddy. Look and see who BoBo and I think he looks like!"
Yvette blinked, calming herself. Albert had helped her with the kids twice; she needed to thank him properly.
Yvette turned around with the two kids, looking up, and met a pair of deep eyes.
Yvette was stunned. How could this face look exactly like her husband David's?
While Yvette was lost in thought, Albert suddenly spoke, his voice hoarse and filled with an emotion Yvette couldn't understand.
"Yvette."
Yvette looked around in confusion, and tentatively asked, "Are you calling me?"
