Chapter 435 Afraid She'll Leave, Afraid She'll Love Someone Else

Sylvia's anger hit Albert like the sudden storm outside, catching him completely off guard.

Sylvia continued, "All these years with Yvette, except for when you first met, it's always been her holding on. When you lost your memory and were all lovey-dovey with Violet, she waited for you. At your slightest beckon, she would come to you, marry you, have your children. She even got kidnapped because of you and Violet...Albert, if you had any sense, you wouldn't keep misunderstanding Yvette like this. Her love for you is something you don't even deserve a fraction of!"

Albert was silent for a few seconds, his lips moving slightly, "She loves me?"

Sylvia shouted, "Everyone in the world knows it, every bystander can feel it, but you refuse to believe it. I just don't get it. Is it because her family was struggling back then, and you think the marriage was a transaction, so you doubt everything she says?"

Sylvia was so angry she could almost grind her teeth to dust. "Albert, you're so smart. You became Luken's youngest and best pilot, took over the Valdemar Group midway, and led the company to new heights. You can see through all the deceit and scheming in the business world, but you can't see Yvette's love for you?"

Sylvia's eyes were red as she stared at Albert. "I finally understand why Yvette won't explain herself to you. You're too stubborn. If you really want to lose Yvette completely, just keep up this foolish behavior!"

Sylvia turned and left their room, slamming the door behind her, leaving a trembling echo in the room.

The argument ended, leaving a heavy silence that mirrored his inner world.

In the empty living room, Albert sat on the couch, deep in thought. His hands rested lightly on his knees, tense knuckles revealing his inner struggle. Though his face was expressionless, his eyes were filled with turmoil.

Sylvia's fierce words echoed in his mind repeatedly. Maybe he cared too much, always fearing she would leave or love someone else.

But the more he cared, the more he tightened his grip, wanting to keep her close, confined in his embrace.

Sylvia was right. Everyone knew it, except him.

He needed to believe in her, in their love. Only then could they truly last.

Albert's dim eyes slowly lifted, focusing on the closed door with a glimmer of hope and determination.

He stood up, ready to find Yvette. But as he opened the door, thunder roared and lit up the dark sky. A heavy downpour stopped him in his tracks.

He retreated back inside, dialing his phone to get his bodyguards to help him find Yvette, but the next second, the lights went out, and his phone lost signal.

Albert's face darkened as he looked at the obstructive typhoon outside, forcing himself to stay calm.

The sky was shrouded in darkness, and the rain poured down like a waterfall.

Yvette stood in the villa's living room, her brows furrowed as she watched the unannounced storm, her eyes filled with worry and unease.

Her silk dress was soaked, clinging to her skin, making her shiver.

Yvette rubbed her exposed arms, trying to soothe the goosebumps, but it was no use.

She looked down at her phone, seeing Sylvia's numerous missed calls, her heart sinking further.

When she realized how many calls she had missed from Sylvia, she grabbed a large umbrella, intending to leave despite the rain.

But the storm was too fierce. The moment she stepped out of the villa, the wind broke her umbrella, leaving only the frame.

Before the thunder struck, David rushed out and forcibly dragged Yvette back inside.

Both of them were drenched, looking quite disheveled.

David's eyes were cold as he questioned her, "You'd risk your life just to get back to the estate and avoid being alone with me?"

Yvette's eyes were red, trembling. "I didn't expect the typhoon to be this severe."

"If you had known, you wouldn't have come, right?" David sneered. "Are you afraid Albert will be angry?"

Yvette bit her lip, water dripping from the ends of her long hair.

David stared at her stubborn figure, unable to argue with her.

He pursed his lips, found a clean towel, and wrapped it around Yvette. "Dry off, take a shower, and change your clothes. Don't catch a cold."

Yvette still looked resistant, and David said no more, turning to take a shower.

She dried herself with the towel but remained damp and uncomfortable. The mosquito bites on her neck and chest irritated her, and she scratched at them, feeling increasingly annoyed.

Just then, David came downstairs, having finished his shower and changed clothes.

He had a towel over his head, revealing only his eyes, which looked just like Albert's. He glanced at Yvette and walked over, asking softly, "Got bitten by mosquitoes? Itchy? I'll get some ointment."

David's presence brought a chill with him.

His voice was no longer as cold as before, returning to its usual warmth.

Yvette frowned. "No need, I can..."

Before she could finish, the once bright living room was plunged into darkness.

Yvette and David were momentarily surprised as they realized the power had gone out. The typhoon was indeed severe. In the sudden darkness, the room fell silent.

After a while, David spoke, "I'll find the candelabra. It should be over there."

In the dark, David relied on his intuition and memory to find the candelabra.

A sudden noise broke the silence.

David accidentally bumped into the coffee table. His leg hadn't fully healed, and he lost his balance, falling straight down.

Yvette felt a tall figure coming towards her, and it was too late to dodge.

"Watch out!" David whispered. He twisted his body, trying to avoid her, and fell beside Yvette.

With a ripping sound, the fabric tore through the quiet night.

Yvette's breath hitched as she reached out, realizing her dress had been caught on something and torn, leaving her side exposed, unable to cover her underwear...
