Chapter 203 Yvette Stood Him Up

Yvette's voice was soft, but Lassie could hear the tremble in it. Lassie was taken aback and needed a moment to process. She ignored Yvette's expression and only focused on the words "not getting a divorce."

She was instantly thrilled, her eyes lighting up as she looked at Yvette, so excited she wanted to jump up and hug her. Lassie raised her voice. "That's fantastic! As long as you two aren't divorcing, I can relax!"

Yvette lowered her eyes a bit, her hands gripping the handle of her suitcase tightly, trying hard to keep her emotions in check. She forced a smile. "Don't worry, once I find a good hospital, I'll take you for treatment."

Hearing this, Lassie looked away slightly and blinked. "It's okay, I feel fine now. You should settle in with the Valdemar family first, otherwise, I can't relax about my treatment. Don't you think so?"

Yvette nodded. "You're right." Yvette took out her phone, walked to the balcony, and dialed the driver's number.

The driver quickly answered, "Hello?"

"Hi, this is Yvette. James should have mentioned me," Yvette said calmly, "My luggage is ready. You can come pick me up now. I'll send you the address."

Yvette made the call with her back to Lassie. Lassie glanced at Yvette's slightly hunched back, and a flicker of guilt finally appeared in her eyes.

After a long while, Lassie slowly exhaled. She thought, 'Yvette, I'm doing this for your own good.'

Albert's flight landed back at the airport in the early hours. Steve, dragging his suitcase, followed behind Albert, looking a bit puzzled at how tightly Albert was gripping his suitcase. His fingers were white, like he was using a lot of force to hold it.

Steve blinked and said, "Albert, is your suitcase heavy today? Need me to carry it?"

Albert's voice was cold. "No." Steve was confused, having no idea why he was holding it so tightly.

As they were walking, a sleepy woman suddenly bumped into Albert. Sandra White was startled and quickly rubbed her eyes to apologize, "Sorry!"

As Sandra spoke, she looked up and was instantly drawn to Albert's handsome face. Albert didn't even glance at her. "It's okay."

Albert was about to walk away with his suitcase, but Sandra stopped him. "Are all pilots as handsome as you? I must be lucky to bump into you today. Can I have your contact info?"

Albert paused and stopped in front of Sandra. This was the airport, and she was a passenger. Professional ethics kept Albert from showing impatience directly. He pursed his lips and patiently said, "Sorry, we're on duty."

Sandra was still unwilling to give up and even reached out to grab Albert's arm. Albert immediately dodged, and Sandra felt a bit embarrassed. She cleared her throat. "It's okay even if you're on duty. I just want your contact info. I won't report you."

Albert frowned. "I'm married."

"You're married?" Sandra smiled and said casually, "No problem, I'll wait for you to get divorced."

Albert's face turned cold, and his aura instantly became menacing. He stared at Sandra, on the verge of exploding. He was about to speak when Steve immediately stepped between them and tugged on Albert's jacket.

Steve smiled and said, "Sorry, our company has a rule against giving out personal contact info to passengers. Maybe we'll bump into each other again!"

With that, Steve quickly dragged the grumpy Albert away. It wasn't until they got into the car that Steve felt a sense of relief.

Steve cautiously glanced at Albert a few times, saying, "Albert, you good? Why are you in such a bad mood?"

Albert fastened his seatbelt, grabbed a bottle of water, and chugged half of it, his face finally relaxing a bit. He had almost lost it back there.

Albert, who was usually a pro at keeping his cool around strangers, had almost said something he shouldn't have to a passenger. If it wasn't for Steve, he might have been reported.

Albert slowly exhaled. "I'm fine. Just had a bit of an emotional slip." Albert paused, then added, "Thanks."

Steve was flattered and smiled. He knew Albert well. On the plane, they often dealt with difficult passengers, and Albert always handled it like a champ. No matter how big the issue, with Albert around, everyone felt at ease. Steve asked worriedly, "Is it because of what she said?"

Albert nodded. "Yeah."

Steve quickly tried to comfort him, "Whatever she said, it doesn't affect your life. It's not worth getting in trouble over someone like her."

Albert frowned slightly, checked the time on the screen, and said in a deep voice, "Today, I'm getting the divorce certificate with Yvette."

Sandra had hit a nerve. Steve was dumbfounded. No wonder Albert had been in such a foul mood since early morning.

In front of City Hall.

Albert held an umbrella and walked slowly towards City Hall.

Weirdly, the last two times he came, the weather was perfect, with bright sunshine and a fresh morning breeze. But today, the sky was covered with thick clouds, making it super gloomy. The constant drizzle was oppressive, though not as intense as a thunderstorm.

Albert walked into City Hall and put away his umbrella. He took the plastic bag for the umbrella from the staff and slowly organized it while checking the time. Due to traffic, Albert was already a few minutes late.

Albert and Yvette had agreed to meet at nine, and it was already eight minutes past nine. He looked around, expecting Yvette to be waiting eagerly at the entrance, ready to get the divorce over with. But there was no sign of Yvette anywhere.

Albert thought, 'Probably stuck in traffic because of the rain, just like me.' He walked to the waiting area, found a seat, and sat down to wait for Yvette.

Albert checked his watch several times, but Yvette never showed up. After thinking for a while, Albert finally dialed Yvette's number.

He thought he’d hear Yvette calmly explaining on the phone, asking him to wait a bit longer as she was on her way. But to his surprise, all he got was the automated message, realizing Yvette might have blocked his number.
