Chapter 289 My Wife's Name is Yvette

The car was cruising down the road during rush hour. Albert shut his eyes, frowning at the constant honking around him.

Suddenly, Albert's eyes snapped open. "Where's she staying now that she's back in Luken?"

Vincent replied, "Not sure yet, but she might be back to handle some project stuff."

"Might?" Albert wasn't happy with the vague answer.

"The Las Vegas branch has been asking for a meeting with you because of some project issues. You couldn't meet the person in charge last time you were in Vegas, so this time the request got approved, and Dominic Schneider is handling it," Vincent explained. "I think Jessica came back for this."

Albert's eyes narrowed. "When's their meeting?"

Vincent quickly checked. "Tomorrow afternoon, but today we're expecting someone from the Vegas branch to swing by the office with some stuff to drop off."

Albert straightened up a bit and said firmly, "To the office."

Victor, knowing he couldn't be part of what was coming next, sensibly suggested, "Albert, how about we reschedule? You can have the driver drop me off at..."

Before Victor could finish, Albert cut him off coldly, "Stop the car."

The driver responded, "Okay."

The turn signal clicked rhythmically, and the car smoothly pulled over to the side of the road.

Before Victor could react, Vincent had already gotten out to open the door for him. "Mr. Thomas, take care."

Victor got out and watched the Maybach drive away, then hailed a taxi.

In the car, Albert exhaled slowly, believing that he would definitely uncover the truth.

The car pulled into the Valdemar Group building. As soon as it stopped, Albert saw Yvette getting into a car with two kids.

"Follow them," Albert said in a deep voice.

Inside the car, Yvette handed the kids two bottles of water. "Thanks for coming to work with Mommy. Have some water."

"Thanks, Mommy," Christina said with a smile. "Today, a lot of people said we look great!"

"You do look great," Yvette replied, giving their heads a pat. "Did you say thanks for the nice words?"

"Of course!"

Yvette noticed Lester looking glum. "What's wrong?"

"Mommy," Lester asked, puzzled, "why didn't Daddy come back with us?"

"Daddy has a lot of work to do," Yvette reassured him. "He'll come back to be with us once he's done."

Yvette thought for a moment and decided that since her memories weren't important, there was no need to search for them. "Or, once Mommy is done, we'll go home."

Lester's expression softened. "Okay."

At that moment, the driver suddenly said in a serious tone, "Mrs. Valdemar, hold the kids tight. We're being followed."

Yvette glanced back and instinctively tightened her hold on the kids.

In Stellaria, Yvette had faced similar situations.

For the Valdemar Group, business enemies always sought ways to target David, even going after his wife and children.

Yvette frowned. "Speed up and lose them."

"Got it."

Yvette asked the driver to keep an eye on the kids and took the materials and documents to a restaurant.

She'd heard this was Dominic's favorite spot, the guy in charge of the project.

Yvette got there early, thinking she could go over the documents in the private room before Dominic showed up. But when she opened the door, she was met with a pair of deep, familiar eyes.

Yvette froze. Sitting at the head of the table wasn't Dominic, but Albert, the guy she'd briefly met at the airport.

Their eyes locked, and Albert's cold, complex gaze made Yvette a bit uneasy.

Was his relationship with David so bad that he had to keep tabs on her even for a regular work meeting?

Dominic, who was also there, looked surprised and nervous. He'd come straight from the office for the meeting but hadn't expected Albert to be there.

Albert, the high-ranking heir of the Valdemar Group, rarely met with a director like him. For the cooperation with the Las Vegas branch, he had personally sought him out, lowering himself to discuss the project together.

Thinking of this, Dominic couldn't help but glance at Yvette a few more times.

Yvette had a stunning figure and beautiful looks. Could there be something between them?

Dominic's gaze shifted between the two, but with Albert present, he didn't dare to be too obvious.

He quickly stood up. "Jessica? Hello, I'm Dominic Schneider from the main office, your contact. This is Albert Valdemar, the president of the Valdemar Group."

Yvette collected herself, forced a smile, and said, "Mr. Valdemar, Mr. Schneider, hello, I'm Jessica from the Las Vegas branch."

"Hello," Albert responded, his tone flat.

His gaze, however, stayed on Yvette.

She seemed to have dressed up today, wearing a fitted professional outfit that showed off her figure without being flashy. Her makeup was on point, adding a touch of professional elegance.

She was different from the Yvette he knew.

But she couldn't fool him.

Dominic initially thought there might be something between Albert and Yvette, which was why he introduced her so formally. But seeing Albert's cold attitude, he dismissed the idea.

Dominic raised his glass to Albert. "Mr. Valdemar, I just went to the Morgan Group. Since the Valdemar Group is taking over some of their business, I can assist you and Ms. Morgan more."

Yvette, curious, asked casually, "Is the Valdemar Group taking over the Morgan Group? Is there a merger plan?"

Dominic chuckled, slightly boastful. "The Vegas branch has no clue. Mr. Valdemar is tying the knot with Rebecca from the Morgan clan. It's not just a merger."

Yvette nodded in realization and was about to speak when she heard a teacup being heavily placed on the table.

Albert's voice was cold. "Nonsense. I'm already married."

Dominic was startled, his body trembling as he looked at Albert in shock. "What?"

Albert lifted his gaze, his deep eyes fixed on Yvette's face, and said slowly, "My wife's name is Yvette."
